In this paper we consider a method for finding several eigenvalues and corresponding eigenvectors of large-scale generalized eigenvalue problems. In this method, a small matrix pencil that has only the desired eigenvalues is derived using complex moments obtained via numerical integration. Since the process to derive the moments can be performed in parallel and we do not need to exchange data between processes, the presented method is suitable for master-worker programming models. We have implemented and tested the proposed method in a grid RPC (remote procedure call) system. Numerical examples illustrate the properties of our approach. (© 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Combustion temperature analysis in a fluidized-bed reactor by utilizing palm oil biomass for a renewable energy

Biomass from palm oil is a renewable energy source that can be utilized and has very promising availability. Biomass energy is a renewable and sustainable energy that can replace conventional (fossil) fuels. The main objective of the experiment in this article is to analyze the combustion temperature, emissions, and efficiency of palm oil biomass fuel to use and applied in rural/remote areas. The palm oil biomass used in this study is palm kernel shells, empty fruit bunches, oil palm midrib, and oil palm fibers. The experiments in the research carried out in a fluidized-bed combustion chamber designed explicitly with capacities of up to 5 kg of biomass. The results of operations on fluidized-bed when the valve is open 100%, 75%, and 50% with overall palm oil biomass show a high combustion temperature. The highest combustion temperature was recorded in the TC test for 100% open valves with 3 kg biomass of 943°C. While the minimum combustion temperature obtained on TF2 at 50% open valve with 1 kg biomass of 619°C, overall combustion temperatures in this experiment showed high results. The maximum emission for O2 is 20.4% which is obtained at 50% open valve, while for CO2 the maximum emission is produced when 100% open valve is 19.9% with a biomass weight of 1 kg and 3 kg, respectively. The yield for maximum combustion efficiency when using 1 kg of biomass recorded at 50% open valve was 94.9%. While the minimum efficiency of 87.7% is obtained when the valve is 100% open with biomass of 2 kg. As the biomass fuel used in fluidized-bed increases, the combustion temperature also increases significantly.

With the fast development of the global economy and population, there has been an increase in the amount of wastewater and industrial effluents being discharged into rivers and lakes, resulting in deterioration of water quality and a reduction in the availability of freshwater resources. A comprehensive discussion of the topic of Industrial Wastewater Treatment Integrated for Sustainable Green Industry 4.0, including the difficulties and possible solutions that may be encountered along the way, is provided in this article. According to the results of this study, industrial wastewater treatment that uses online/real-time water for quality monitoring and control has shown great promise in terms of quality monitoring and control when utilizing online/real-time water. Implementing such a system in industrial wastewater treatment may offer an early warning system for poor treatment while increasing the quantity and quality of the end product, both of which are desired outcomes.

Digitizing microalgae production to support green process facing industry 4.0 era

The microalgae industry produces and processes microalgae such as Arthrospira platensis, Chlorella Vulgaris, and Haematococcus Pluvialis as raw materials. The product of the microalgae industry in Indonesia consists of raw materials, extract products, and retail products. The sales activity tends to rise, impacting the financial conditions of the industry in good condition. The potential of this business field is vast with open market demand so that the continuity of production and marketing of diversified products is still guaranteed. Problems and needs facing the Microalgae industry in Indonesia are the whole processes from upstream to downstream in the microalgae industry still manual. It replaced conventional methods with more efficient advanced green technologies that offer greater product quantity and low environmental impact. Literature reviews, observations in the industry, and interviews to evaluate development strategies to help the microalgae industry solves the problems in cultivation, drying techniques, standard fulfillment, and marketing by applying more efficient technology. Based on the analysis of conditions and opportunities, there are some critical aspects of microalgae industry development, namely the creation of an online monitoring application system of production pools that can be implemented in the field according to standards; construction design of encapsulation include spray drying. Moreover, a circular economy fulfills food safety standards such as halal certification, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point, and Good Manufacturing Practice standards. Additionally, improvement of qualifications and competencies of reliable marketing personnel in the manufacture of marketing tools.

Technology integration has been applied in the industrial world for the production process, distribution, employment to worker training. The training in Vocational Education is expected to facilitate every learning with various technological transformations that develop. engineering Mathematics and engineering Physics are lessons that must be given to vocational students as a vocational basis. This study aims to explore the impact of using technology in vocational learning. This study uses qualitative research methods, with an emic approach. The theories used are: (1) Critical Theory from Max Horkheimer and Theodor W. Adorno regarding assumptions; (2) Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory regarding perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use; and (3) the concept of Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s teachings about “ngerti”, “ngroso” and “nglakoni". The results of this study are: (1) the integration of technology provides benefits to student learning activities seen from the critical theory that learning theory is not boring so that students become more active to take part in learning engineering mathematics and engineering physics; (2) the integration of technology in learning provides positive emotions for students in terms of the perceived benefits and perceived ease of use both from the software and hardware devices they have to solve problems in engineering mathematics and engineering physics; (3) technology integration benefits students’ curiosity about "ngerti", "ngroso" and "nglakoni" according to the concept of Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s teachings seen from seeing the lecturer in explaining the material, demonstrating software and hardware devices, viewing, remember and mark, and imitate implementation in everyday life.

The hologram of a single-point object is called a Fresnel zone plate (FZP), and the hologram of a general object is represented as a superposition of FZPs. This paper proposes the FZP sampled hologram and the corresponding two-dimensional image reconstruction method. The FZP sampled hologram is sampled with small interval at the central part and large interval at the periphery. By multiplying the phase function with the one-dimensional hologram and performing the Fourier transform, the two-dimensional image distribution can be determined for the azimuth and range.

CLNS1A is a chloride channel protein and an essential component of the methylosome complex, which additionally comprises PRMT5 and MEP50. In this study, we investigated its contribution to lung cancer and its potential as a therapeutic target. Analysis of transcriptomic datasets and western blotting revealed that CLNS1A, PRMT5, and MEP50 were overexpressed in lung cancer tissues, with elevated CLNS1A expression correlating with poor patient survival. CLNS1A overexpression enhanced platinum clearance from cells, increased the IC values for chemotherapy, and improved cell survival. Conversely, the knockdown of CLNS1A increased drug accumulation, reduced survival, and increased sensitivity to chemotherapy. The 3W mutant, a chloride channel-defective variant with steric hindrance at key bottleneck residues, impaired chloride ion transport, thereby reducing drug resistance, migration, and anchorage-independent growth. Mechanistically, CLNS1A promotes drug efflux through its chloride channel activity and activates the FAK-SRC-RAC1 pathway to enhance motility and clonogenicity. It also facilitates PRMT5-mediated RUVBL1 methylation to support anti-apoptotic DNA damage response signaling. In vivo, CLNS1A overexpression accelerated tumor growth and reduced survival, whereas CLNS1A knockdown sensitized tumors to cisplatin, enhancing therapeutic efficacy. These findings suggest that CLNS1A is a potential biomarker and therapeutic target, and its inhibition offers a strategy to overcome drug resistance and limit the metastatic progression of lung cancer.

Neurotrophic receptor tyrosine kinase 3 (NTRK3) has pleiotropic functions: it acts not only as an oncogene in breast and gastric cancers but also as a dependence receptor in tumor suppressor genes in colon cancer and neuroblastomas. However, the role of NTRK3 in upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) is not well documented. This study investigated the association between NTRK3 expression and outcomes in UTUC patients and validated the results in tests on UTUC cell lines. A total of 118 UTUC cancer tissue samples were examined to evaluate the expression of NTRK3. Survival curves were generated using Kaplan–Meier estimates, and Cox regression models were used for investigating survival outcomes. Higher NTRK3 expression was correlated with worse progression-free survival, cancer-specific survival, and overall survival. Moreover, the results of an Ingenuity Pathway Analysis suggested that NTRK3 may interact with the PI3K-AKT-mTOR signaling pathway to promote cancer. NTRK3 downregulation in BFTC909 cells through shRNA reduced cellular migration, invasion, and activity in the AKT-mTOR pathway. Furthermore, the overexpression of NTRK3 in UM-UC-14 cells promoted AKT-mTOR pathway activity, cellular migration, and cell invasion. From these observations, we concluded that NTRK3 may contribute to aggressive behaviors in UTUC by facilitating cell migration and invasion through its interaction with the AKT-mTOR pathway and the expression of NTRK3 is a potential predictor of clinical outcomes in cases of UTUC. © 2024 The Authors. Water quality of the Garang River, Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia based on the government regulation standard

The Garang watershed composed by three main river streams has been managed by the Regional water company of the Semarang city, Central Java for drinking water supply. A river is often polluted by domestic waste and industrial effluents. Therefore water quality of the river should be keep to meet the Government regulation standard. The study aims to analyze water quality of the Garang' river using pollution index based on the government regulation. Series data from 2010 to 2016 were derived from the Environmental and Forestry Office of the Central Java Province and sampling of water quality was taken in August 2017 from the middle of watershed area. Water quality parameters include temperature, pH, TDS, DO, COD, Phosphate, Nitrate, Chromium, Copper, Cadmium and H2S. The research indicates that concentration of Copper has exceeds the standard of the Government Regulation No. 82 Year 2001. The water pollution index is 1.23, its means that the river is lightly polluted. Therefore the river should be managed comprehensively for sustainable uses in order to create one river one management concept.

The effect of muffler mounting to the engine noise of LAPAN surveillance UAV - 02 (LSU-02)

The effect of muffler mounting on LAPAN Surveillance UAV-02 (LSU-02) engine noise has been investigated. In the propulsion laboratory, the LSU-02 engine was tested by varying the throttle setting so that the propeller rotated with RPM variation. The noise level was measured by using noise sensor, located 1 meter behind the engine and 1 meter front the engine. The same test was repeated, but this time the engine had a muffler. The maximum noise level for the LSU-02 engine was 113.9 dB without a muffler and 98.7 dB with a muffler, with noise sensor located 1 meter behind the engine, at the highest propeller rotational speed of 6500 RPM, according to the measurement results. The engine noise level was reduced by an average of 15% and 12% with noise sensors mounted behind and in front of the engine. With current muffler design and operation by propeller speed of 5000 RPM, the measured noise level could not be suppressed to under 85 dB.
