Traffic forecasting is essential for the intelligent transportation system and is applied to managing traffic networks. Recently, there has been a growing interest in incorporating spatial and temporal variables into the methodology of traffic forecasting. The primary emphasis of modern research lies in the complex architecture of graph neural networks. In contrast, preprocessing data for the input is also essential. Especially traffic data, such as traffic flows, have high nonlinearity and complex patterns. The traffic graph signal is attributes that are associated with the nodes. In this paper, the step of preprocessing data utilized graph signal processing (GSP) to filter noise from traffic signal data before the traffic flow data was applied for prediction tasks. The adjusted parameter for filtering noise was used. In this paper, the parameter was set from 0.1 to 10. The result shows that the increasing parameter filter of the graph data was smoothed filtered. Moreover, the smooth data is affected by the time horizons. For the increasing time horizon, we can use the large parameter and get the prediction error smaller than the shorter time horizon. © 2023 IEEE.

The global trend in broadband internet services reveals an increased focus on reliability, customer service, and integrating new technologies like IoT, 5G, or FMC. Customer service is primarily determined by network quality and reliability, price, and the quality of customer support provided by ISPs. Meanwhile, existing network quality measurement methods often involve numerous parameters, ranging from download speed and server response time to video streaming quality, each providing a separate insight into aspects of user experience. Therefore, the importance of the composite index method is becoming increasingly relevant. This method allows the integration of these various parameters into a single, easily understandable integrated index, simplifying complex data analysis into a more concise and interpretable form. As a result of this approach, internet service providers can more effectively monitor and enhance the customer experience and the overall quality of their services for various purposes with a single composite parameter value, providing reassurance and confidence in their operations. © 2024 IEEE.

This study conducted in Lima, Peru, a combination of spatial decisionmaking system and machine learning was utilized to identify potentialsolar power plant construction sites within the city. Sundial measurementsof solar radiation, precipitation, temperature, and altitude were collectedfor the study. Gene Expression programming (GEP), which is based on theevolution of intelligent models, and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) wereboth utilized in this investigation, and the results obtained from each werecompared. Eighty percent of the data was utilized during the training phase,while the remaining twenty percent was utilized during the testing phase. Onthe basis of the findings, it was determined that the GEP is the most suitablenetwork for predicting the location. The test state’s Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency(NSE) was 0.90, and its root-mean-square error (RMSE) was 0.04. Followingthe generation of the final map based on the results of the GEP model, itwas determined that 9.2% of the province’s study area is suitable for theconstruction of photovoltaic solar power plants, while 53.5% is acceptable and37.3% is unsuitable. The ANN model reveals that only 1.7% of the study areais suitable for the construction of photovoltaic solar power plants, while 66.8%is acceptable and 31.5% is unsuitable.

Natural disasters, particularly earthquakes, can cause the electric power system to collapse, which can be brought on by one of the infrastructure breakdowns in the power system. Damaged power system can cause losses to electricity providers, electricity users, so it is necessary to understand the vulnerability of electric power system assets to earthquakes. The research fragility function presents the concept of fragility function in power system of the entire power system, showed fragility of power plant, transmission line, tower transmission, transformers, generator, and substation. Substation is more fragile than the others because substation consist of circuit breaker and disconnecting switch the most fragile asset. In addition, this paper also presents how to creating the fragility function and several solutions to increase the resilience of the electric power system to earthquakes. © 2023 IEEE.

UV exposure, soil burial, and storage ability tests were carried out on biocomposite films with different concentrations of nanocrystal cellulose to study their biodegradability and morphological properties compared to neat whey protein films. The addition of nanocrystal cellulose as a natural filler to the whey protein based film can change a variety of properties such as strength, shelf life, biodegradability, and resistance to environmental conditions that are required in food packaging. The degradation films were assessed by UV exposure and soil burial tests. On the other hand, packaging ability is analyzed through storage tests under controlled conditions. After the analysis, changes in physical, chemical, and morphological properties were observed in the biocomposite film. From these results, we can conclude that the whey protein film with the addition of 3% nanocrystal cellulose would be a more favorable choice because of its better properties and suitability for the proposed biodegradable food packaging application. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd. River Bian in Merauke Regency has been utilized by local people in Papua (the Marind) who live along the river for fulfilling their daily needs, such as shower, cloth and dish washing, and even defecation, waste disposal, including domestic waste, as well as for ceremonial activities related to the locally traditional culture. Change in land use for other necessities and domestic activities of the local people have mounted pressures on the status of the River Bian, thus decreasing the quality of the river. This study had objectives to find out and to analyze river water quality and water quality status of the River Bian, and its compliance with water quality standards for ideal use. The study determined sample point by a purposive sampling method, taking the water samples with a grab method. The analysis of the water quality was performed by standard and pollution index methods. The study revealed that the water quality of River Bian, concerning BOD, at the station 3 had exceeded quality threshold. COD parameter for all stations had exceeded the quality threshold for class III. At three stations, there was a decreasing value due to increasing PI, as found at the stations 1, 2, and 3. In other words, River Bian had been lightly contaminated. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.

Nowadays, it is essential to provide 3D digital reconstructions with the highest possible reliability and veracity. Archaeological sites within the framework of the building to be rebuilt are important. The data provided by Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can be extracted from different sources, and are a crucial tool to carry out the topographical survey in the context of Virtual Archaeology. Therefore, engineering and archaeology work hand in hand to form multidisciplinary teams with the aim of addressing the design of heritage cultural elements. The aim of this study was to represent the terrain associated with the "the Baker’s House", at the archaeological site of Torreparedones (Cordoba, Spain). The interest in this representation increased after the virtual reconstruction of the domus, which was performed to geographically place the house in its exact location. Two methodologies were used through different software and data to obtain the topographical survey. The first methodology was the one applied in QGIS 2.3.15 with data from the CNIG, and the second methodology was the one applied in Blender 2.90.0 using the Google Satellite database. Both methodologies were compared, analysing the time invested in the two processes, as well as the orography of the terrain, which was captured with a 360 panoramic picture taken on the site. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

At the beginning of the discipline, archaeology as a scientific subject was understood thanks to the archaeological drawing, or what is the same, to the graphic representation of heritage. The use of new technologies in the scope of archaeology has posed a revolution in the representation of heritage assets. The creation of multi-disciplinary teams who transfer the information of the archaeological record to new representation techniques, and who can solve specific problems in the scope of heritage. Virtual archaeology contributes to the motivation and interest for the learning of archaeological spaces. In this context, new technologies are a relevant and more attractive tool that ease the access to the knowledge of past societies, facilitating the didactic and informational mission and the clarity and comprehension of the contents. This study is focused on the representation of the degree of historical-archaeological evidence of a heritage asset, through the use of the three evidence scale propositions that exist nowadays. Evidence scales will be compared, with the aim of obtaining accurate results of their application, identifying their suitability. Furthermore, compliance with the scientific quality requirements established for this kind of work will be guaranteed. Currently, it is important to disseminate the existing heritage, relying on emerging technologies. In the same way as the lifestyles of people change, the ways of acquiring information must also change. Self-driving cars have gained significant attention in recent years. Real-time object detection is a critical component of their perception system. One of the main challenges in developing safe and efficient self-driving cars lies in accurately and in real-time detecting objects in diverse and complex traffic environments. This paper presents the performance evaluation of real-time object detection of YOLOv8 models, a state-of-the-art deep learning framework for self-driving cars in mixed traffic environments. The objective is to assess the extent of YOLOv8's object detection capabilities can be used for self-driving car within complex realworld traffic scenarios. The experimental results show that the accuracy of YOLOv8 during normal daylight scenarios ranges from 0.60 ~ 0.80. In contrast, the accuracy values obtained in night scenarios fall between 0.15 ~ 0.25. Similarly, the FMeasure of YOLOv8 models under daylight conditions ranges from 0.75 ~ 0.87. Conversely, the F-Measure in night conditions falls between 0.27 ~ 0.46. Based on our thorough evaluation results, YOLOv8 has demonstrated its robustness in detecting objects. However, the algorithm requires improvement to effectively handle the challenges of self-driving cars' object detection systems in mixed traffic, such as diverse object classifications, small-scale objects, fast-moving objects, blur, glare, and low-light illumination, particularly in nighttime scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.

Being one essential part of the solutions we are developing to provide accessibility for blind persons, synthesized speech of mathematical content, although having evolved in naturalness in recent years, still keeps a characteristic of generating very long outputs, which makes it difficult for a person who uses a screen reader to memorize. Eye-gaze tracking has been useful for studying cognitive processes and student's effort in performing tasks therefore it seems attractive as a means to understand how people analyze, process, and break down extensive math expressions into smaller ones. This understanding can help to build a similar model of auditory rendering of MathML capable of avoiding cognitive overload. Therefore, we carried out an experiment to do a gaze-based analysis of reading and memorizing mathematical expressions. Our sample consisted of fourteen participants, and seven mathematical expressions were used in the experiment. The results showed that the computed complexity of the expressions and the average duration of eye-gaze fixations have a strong and significant relationship. Therefore, we conclude that the complexity variable must always be considered in the speech synthesis process of mathematical expressions. However, when considering why participants requested the repetition of an expression with not larger complexity during the memorization process, a tentative interpretation based on the number of MathML tree nodes and the computed complexity of the expressions was not enough to explain it, indicating that other factors need to be investigated. Although some answers to the research questions were not yet conclusive, we consider this research relevant because it points to directions for the work in order to minimize the cognitive processing and mental load of the synthesized speech rendering of mathematical expressions. © 2022 IEEE.
