Solar energy is environmentally friendly energy with a very large energy source. Indonesia is also exploring and implementing renewable energy options including solar panels as a viable and long-term alternative to green technology. On the other hand, to get sufficient solar radiation, solar panel systems are generally located in open areas such as hillsides, deserts, and water surfaces, making them more vulnerable to lightning strikes. Lightning is one of the main threats to PLTS, a lot of damage to solar panels is caused by lightning. Direct and indirect lightning strikes have great potential to affect the entire solar panel farm system. The main objective of this study is to evaluate Lightning Protection System (LPS) modeling for network-connected solar panel (PV) farm systems using the ATP-EMTP software. Field observations and simulation tests are used to determine the position of the LPS and its installation structure. The rolling ball method is used to see the installed LPS protection radius. The results show that it is necessary to add LPS to the PV field. It was found that there was one additional LPS needed on the north side of the PV field, because that position was not protected by the radius of the lightning rod. From the simulation results, it was found that the LPS installation structure was good, because the results from the modeling of the isolated LPS lightning protection system were better to use than without installing LPS.

This paper compares single microstrip antenna designs and microstrip arrays used for Manpack Radar with X-band frequency. Antenna array configurations were investigated for 1x2, 1x4, and 1x32 elements. A gain increase is required for each additional patch element. Patch dimensions are set at 9.17 x 10.10 x 0.035 mm. The parameters needed are X-Band frequency with gain >15 dBi, beamwidth angle of ≤5°, and bandwidth of more than 60 MHz. The simulation results show a good match with the target required for the 9.3 GHz frequency. The largest gain value numerically is obtained on the antenna with 32 patches, which is 17.1 dBi.

This research proposes a methodology for identifying the optimal feature combination using Support Vector Machine (SVM) based on edge and texture features. Canny, Sobel, and Prewitt for edge detection and GLCM, Gabor, and LBP for texture analysis are popular feature extraction techniques widely employed in various cases. The approach combines edge and texture features with SVM to classify rice types into five categories: Ipsala, Jasmine, Karacadag, Arborio, and Basmati. Experimental results demonstrate that SVM using Canny, Sobel, and Prewitt combined Gabor texture features outperforms the comparative methods. A comparative analysis based on accuracy scores using confusion matrices is conducted. Combining all feature edge methods, Canny, Sobel, and Prewitt with Gabor on SVM classification is the best model for rice object classification, achieving an accuracy of 96%.

Passive cooling systems in buildings are inseparable from thermal comfort, particularly in regions with tropical climates. Natural Ventilation (NV) as one of the passive cooling systems can be the solution to issues of thermal comfort and energy conservation as it is proven to achieve thermal comfort in a building. Low ventilation is one of the Natural Ventilation systems that is proven to increase indoor air velocity and thermal comfort in a building. This study examines how the height of low ventilation affects indoor air velocity and thermal comfort in a building model with dimensions 2.5 m x 2.5 m. The research employed 180 data of indoor and outdoor air velocity (m/s) with an interval of 1 minute for each height of vents. The heights of the low ventilation in the research are 10 cm, 40 cm, and 70 cm from the floor surface of the model building. From 540 data, it is concluded that with relatively the same wind speed, the low ventilation with a height of 10 cm has the highest air velocity. The lowest air velocity is obtained from the low ventilation with the highest height, which is 70 cm. The research significance is to give a new consideration of the location of the vent holes, particularly low ventilation holes. With their effectiveness in increasing the air velocity, thermal comfort in the building can also be achieved without the use of an active cooling system.
