Purpose - The purpose of this research was to discover what frameworks for project, portfolio, and innovation management there are and if necessary to propose a new framework useful for SMEs of the construction and building materials industry. Design/methodology/approach - The methodology used in this research was the case study, in which the Canadian construction and building materials industry was selected. The research was based on literature review, interviews, group discussion and survey. Findings - Although there are currently many frameworks available for the three management areas (project, portfolio and innovation), research has shown that a framework that helps companies to follow an approach that supports their business at these three levels is lacking. Originality/value - Innoframe is a new framework for project, portfolio, and innovation management that incorporates a pipeline and two phases as well as a performance management matrix, that can be used for project and portfolio management, to support innovation-driven SMEs. © 2020 Universidade do Minho. Molasses has a high sugar content and potentially good to be used as a fermentation substrate in the production of ethanol. The main purpose of this study is to compared the ethanol yield between free and immobilized on calcium alginate as the agent of fermentation. The fermentation of molasses was carried out directly using yeast isolate K2 which was free and immobilized on calcium alginate. Isolate K2 was tested physiologically first to determine the character of its tolerance to NaCl, pH, and molasses. The physiological character of isolate K2 showed its ability to grow at the limit of 12% NaCl, pH 3-6, and 25% molasses concentration at 30°C. The highest ethanol content was 1.96% from 25% molasses concentration with 24 hours fermentation using immobilized K2 isolate while the lowest ethanol content was 0.42% from 24 hours fermentation time using free yeast. Substantially, it can be concluded that the immobilization of K2 isolate in calcium alginate has the potential to increase the production of ethanol from molasses.

Model Performance Index of Ground Water Irrigation Systems in the Karst Mountain Region: Case Study in Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta

Ground Water Irrigation Network (GWIN) make a major contribution to agricultural production in karst mountainous areas, especially in the dry season. A performance index model would be developed to measure the level of success in developing groundwater irrigation systems. Performance evaluation of groundwater irrigation systems was a value called the Groundwater Irrigation Performance Index. This study aims to obtain determinants of the parameters of the index performance of groundwater irrigation that based on technical and non-technical aspects by analyzing the variables that give effect to the both aspects. Technical variables were physical infrastructure, supporting facilities, geological conditions, vegetation conditions, water recharge area conditions, direction of spatial planning, documentation, and crop productivity. Non-technical aspects were personnel organizations, P3A (Association of Water User Farmers'), and economic-socio-cultural. The locus of research was in the Karst Mountains area of Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta. The method used in collecting data was direct measurement of site visit and secondary data from the field. The non-technical aspects of using questionnaire data as qualitative data were converted into quantitative data. Smart Partial Least Squares was used for filtering variables. GRG-Generalized Reduced Gradient method was used to solve the non-linear equation with the objective-objective assumption and constraints. The model calibration test was calibrated and simulated on the parameters used. The results were a performance index model to measure the level of success in developing groundwater irrigation systems. The performance index evaluation of the developed groundwater irrigation system was an accumulation of technical indexes and non-technical indices involving influential variables.

The skin perfusion pressure (SPP) is traditionally measured with laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF), but this technique is limited by its single-point fiber optic probe, the need to contact the skin, and susceptibility to various factors, resulting in poor data consistency. Therefore, we developed a noncontact system for measuring the SPP over a large area based on laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI). When it was paired with a pressure cuff device, the system accurately recorded blood flow changes during various pressure interventions, and the reperfusion pressure point could be calibrated to overcome traditional measurement limitations. Cross-comparison experiments revealed that the measurements obtained with the LSCI and LDF systems were highly correlated (r > 0.7), confirming the reliability of LSCI in assessing microcirculatory function. Since supine measurements are not always suitable in clinical environments, such as in space-constrained clinics or when the patient cannot lie flat, we compared SPP measurements obtained from individuals in sitting versus supine positions, revealing minimal differences (Cohen's d  = 0.1, p > 0.05), which demonstrates the system's stability over different patient postures. Under cold water stimulation, which induces microvascular contraction, simulating poor circulation, the measured SPP was significantly lower than that measured under normal conditions (Cohen's d  = 2.6, p < 0.05), verifying the system's potential applicability under different pathological conditions. According to our results, the LSCI system not only obtains SPP measurements that are correlated with the LDF-measured SPP but also overcomes the limitations of the latter system, providing noncontact, instant, and large-scale microcirculation monitoring. Water and good sanitation are essential elements to support human health. Unfortunately, the fulfillment of clean water and sanitation needs has not been fully implemented in several parts of the world. Sanitation development in Indonesia refers to the Sustainable Development Goals, which in 2030 are targeted to ensure the availability and sustainable management of clean water and sanitation for all communities. The problem in this study is to determine community participation in its contribution to achieving SDGs (6) goals in the use of public toilet facilities built from local government budgets in a sustainable effort in the SANIMAS program in Bandung City West Java. The research results that have been carried out show that the use of shared toilet facilities requires participation from the community and the increasing number of residents in each urban area. Policies from the government can anticipate problems in the future, and there is a need for collaboration between the government, the private sector, and the community by paying attention to the environment both for the sustainability of water reserves from dug wells and the use of technology that can prevent river water pollution in the city, as well as the sustainability of the sanitation program for all public.

In this work, a comparative analysis of the performance and efficiency of the FCS-MPC and Modulation FBQ applied to an AFE active front rectifier is carried out. The above compares quality indicators of form in the input current of an AFE, THD, and WTHD rectifier. For efficiency, the conduction and commutation losses in the switches will be estimated to obtain a selection criterion between these two control methods, which will be based on the efficiency of the converter and the performance of the input current loop. The semiconductors losses are calculated by linear mathematical approximations, which depend on the operation point of the AFE rectifier and the switch parameters, which are obtained from the datasheet provided by the switch manufacturer, which for this work, IGBT IKW25T120 was selected. Finally, for the performance analysis, satisfactory simulation results were obtained.

Classification of images containing sensitive and non-sensitive information using the convolutional neural network

Currently, social media is used by almost all ages, from pre-teens to the elderly. They use social media to socialize and express their activities by uploading pictures; however, they sometimes do not realize that the images they upload contain sensitive information. They do not carefully analyze the images to be uploaded due to a lack of knowledge, irresponsible acts, or impaired vision. Therefore, we propose a method to classify images with sensitive or non-sensitive content using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). This research was performed through several steps: image public dataset collection, data pre-processing, model architecture design, model training, and model validation. A randomly selected sample of 2,000 of 5,537 images from the VizWiz-Priv dataset was used to train the classification model. The CNN architecture was compiled using two max-pooling layers and four convolution layers. Finally, the model was trained and validated using images containing sensitive and non-sensitive information. The results revealed that the model accuracy during training and validation achieved 98.75% and 83.30%, respectively.

Setting time of geopolymer binder based on Umeanyar slate stone powder

This study aims to determine the effect of precursor and activator proportion on the setting time of the geopolymer binder. The precursor used was Umeanyar slate stone powder containing SiO2 (49%), Al2O3 (11%), CaO (11.2%). While the activator used was a mixture of 14 M sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution and sodium silicate (Na2SiO3). The proportion of precursor: activator (P/A) in the geopolymer binder were 70%: 30%; 75%: 25%; 80%: 20% and those of Na2SiO3 : NaOH (SS/SH) were 1:1; 1.5:1; 2:1, by weight. The setting time of the binders was tested according to the SNI 2049: 2015. Measurement of setting time using vicat test equipment and based on normal consistency. The measurement of the setting time was carried out every 15 minutes until the initial bonding time was reached. The initial and final setting time result of the geopolymer binder decreased to 75 minutes and 100 minutes when P/A, as well as, SS/SH increased.

Neurotrophic receptor tyrosine kinase 3 (NTRK3) has pleiotropic functions: it acts not only as an oncogene in breast and gastric cancers but also as a dependence receptor in tumor suppressor genes in colon cancer and neuroblastomas. However, the role of NTRK3 in upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) is not well documented. This study investigated the association between NTRK3 expression and outcomes in UTUC patients and validated the results in tests on UTUC cell lines. A total of 118 UTUC cancer tissue samples were examined to evaluate the expression of NTRK3. Survival curves were generated using Kaplan–Meier estimates, and Cox regression models were used for investigating survival outcomes. Higher NTRK3 expression was correlated with worse progression-free survival, cancer-specific survival, and overall survival. Moreover, the results of an Ingenuity Pathway Analysis suggested that NTRK3 may interact with the PI3K-AKT-mTOR signaling pathway to promote cancer. NTRK3 downregulation in BFTC909 cells through shRNA reduced cellular migration, invasion, and activity in the AKT-mTOR pathway. Furthermore, the overexpression of NTRK3 in UM-UC-14 cells promoted AKT-mTOR pathway activity, cellular migration, and cell invasion. From these observations, we concluded that NTRK3 may contribute to aggressive behaviors in UTUC by facilitating cell migration and invasion through its interaction with the AKT-mTOR pathway and the expression of NTRK3 is a potential predictor of clinical outcomes in cases of UTUC. © 2024 The Authors. Polycaprolactone (PCL) is an important polymer due to its mechanical properties, miscibility with a large range of other polymers and biodegradability. Polycaprolactone (PCL) was chosen as the matrix because of its biodegradability characteristics. This paper reports on an investigation of the influence of the presence of bentonite. It was found that of bentonite significantly influenced the mass loss behavior of the nanocomposite because of physical interactions between the clay and the polymer chains and degradation volatiles. Melt drawing of the composite, however, had little influence on the degradation behavior of the investigated samples. Based on mechanical properties results, addition of bentonite significantly enhances the flexibility of PCL blends. TGA showed that the presence of bentonite improves thermal stability of blends. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
