A research on developing a system that integrates clean production and waste water treatment for biogas production in tofu small industry has been conducted. In this research, tofu waste water was turned into biogas using an AnSBR reactor. Mud from the sewage system serves as the inoculums. This research involved: (1) workshop;(2) supervising;(3) technical meeting;(4) network meeting, and (5) technical application. Implementation of clean production integrated with waste water treatment reduced the amount of waste water to be treated in a treatment plant. This means less cost for construction and operation of waste water treatment plants, as inherent limitations associated with such plants like lack of fund, limited area, and technological issues are inevitable. Implementation of clean production prior to waste water treatment reduces pollution figures down to certain levels that limitations in waste water treatment plants can be covered. Results show that biogas in 16 days HRT in an AnSBR reactor contains CH4(78.26 %) and CO2 (20.16 %). Meanwhile, treatments using a conventional bio-digester result in biogas with 72.16 % CH4 and 18.12 % CO2. Hence, biogas efficiency for the AnSBR system is 2.14 times greater than that of a conventional bio-digester. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.

The presence of road lighting helps a car driver to identify nearby cars. The availability of road lighting can also reduce the occurrence of security disturbances however it has not been considered as the cause of accident. A study was conducted to analyze the visual perception of car drivers toward the road lighting. The research was conducted on Cikampek and Cipularang freeways which include straight and curved road sections. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires as the measurements instrument by asking the participants to watch the video footage of the freeway. The results show that the car drivers feel safer and more clarity in identifying the traffic signs and road marking in the presence of road lighting. Furthermore, yellowish road lighting provides more visual safety perception than white lighting which opposed with other previous studies. This result was obtained from the existing condition in the questionnaires without any control variable. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.

Plant fertility is very dependent on the levels of nutrients present in the soil. Measurement of soil nutrients can be done through laboratory tests and can also be done using IoT technology. IoT equipment is supported by sensors that can be used to measure soil nutrients and the location of the soil is measured. Data from land measurements made through IoT technology can be stored and displayed in real-time through the cloud. This paper designs data sources derived from IoT -based nutrient measurement data to build data warehouse locations and soil nutrients. A data warehouse that is formed later can be done for analysis of the types of plants and fertilizers needed at a soil location.

Background: In an op-ed posted on the New York Times (NYT) website, Angelina Jolie disclosed that she carries the BRCA1 genetic mutation and received a preventive mastectomy. Studies have since demonstrated a positive impact of Ms. Jolie's disclosure on breast cancer-related health behaviors. This qualitative study used conventional content analysis of comments to the op-ed to explore intermediate outcomes of the disclosure;specifically, how the disclosure influenced public discourse regarding appearance changes related to breast cancer surgery. Method: After downloading all comments from the NYT website and using an iterative process to develop a standardized codebook, two researchers applied the codes using NVivo 10. Result: Five subthemes were identified in sixty-one comments discussing physical appearance or body image in the context of breast cancer treatment or preventive care: appearance versus health, perception of breast appearance following surgery, partner acceptance of appearance following surgery, beliefs about others’ reactions regarding appearance, and beliefs about reconstructive surgery. While some commenters shared body image concerns following surgery, many were relieved to have undergone the procedure, valuing health over appearance. Most women stated that their romantic partners praised their appearance following surgery, although some worried about how they were perceived in public. Conclusion: This study clarifies how celebrity disclosures about cancer may influence intermediate outcomes (e.g. interpersonal communication and beliefs about appearance-related surgical outcomes) hypothesized to contribute to changes in cancer prevention and treatment behaviors. More research is needed to further elucidate the relationships between celebrity disclosure, intermediate outcomes, and behavioral outcomes. © 2020, © 2020 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

This study aims to determine the effect of the road network and the implementation of freight transportation on regional development and the community welfare in Langkat Regency. This type of research is associative and explanatory research whose data are obtained through surveys. The study population was drivers of motor vehicles transporting goods in Langkat Regency. The number of samples is 305 respondents by means of probability sampling and data analysis techniques using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The results showed that the road network variables did not significantly influence the community welfare, but the road network had a significant and positive effect on the community welfare through the development of the Langkat Regency. The implementation of freight transportation has a significant and positive effect on the community welfare partially, directly and through the development of the Langkat Regency. Regional development has a significant and positive effect on the community welfare of Langkat Regency.

Pollution of domestic wastewater becomes an urban problem. Domestic wastewater contains a variety of pollutants. One of the pollutant parameters in domestic wastewater is BOD. Domestic wastewater which BOD concentrations exceeding the quality standard will be harmful to the environment, particularly the receiving water body. Therefore, before being discharged into the environment, domestic wastewater needs to be processed first. One of the processing that has high efficiency, low cost and easy operation is biofilter technology. The purpose of this research was to analyze the efficiency of BOD concentration reduction in domestic wastewater with anaerobic reactor biofilter using volcanic gravel media. The type of reactor used is an anaerobic biofilter made of glass which volume of 30 liters while the biofilter media is volcanic gravel. In this research the established HRT were 24, 12, 6 and 3 hours. The results showed that the efficiency of BOD concentration reduction in artificial domestic wastewater reached 80%. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.

Poly ϵ-caprolactone (PCL) gets a lot of attention, and shows great potential in some applications among synthetic polymers. This is because the thermoplastic polymer posses some desirable features, including good stability, and easy of process. PCL also had some specific properties when it blended with organic or inorganic filler. Bentonite (montmorillonite/clay) has been studied as one of filler material used for improving the genuine properties of polymer. The modifying process of bentonite is an initial stage before mixing with PCL matrix to form a composite, it consist of purification and opening stage of d-spacing layer with surfactant for several size of bentonite (100,120, 150, 200 and 250 mesh). Some characterization have been done to measure how good the filler is. CEC value was obtained at size of 250 mesh of 79.00 meq/100 g. From the results of X-RD (X-Ray Diffraction) analysis shows the increasing bentonite d-pacing layer since before and after the modification process equal to 0,425 nm. FT-IR analysis identify the functional groups contained in bentonite, the Si-O and Al-O vibrations appear on wave numbers 420 cm-1-1200 cm-1. To identify the biomedical properties of PCL, chitosan nanoparticle has been added as filler with bentonite biomedical material applications such as for medical tools. The results of Tensile Test showed that the presence of modified chitosan-bentonite in PCL polymer improve the mechanical properties of the composite, the composition of filler Bentonit-Chitosan 7% is the maximum value of 290 Mpa. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A research that analyzed the relationship between biogas production as renewable energy and performance of waste water treatment in tofu small industry using AnSBR reactor has been conducted. This research used system operation method in batches in to get a description of how the biogas production system works as it was operated in the batch mode, which is applied in tofu industry. An instrument capable of operation in batch mode using AnSBR reactor was designed as it does not require sludge re-circulation. An AnSBR reactor includes five stages of;filling, reaction, settling, decanting, and stabilization (idling state). The research was run for 24 days using biogas collected in a tank. Biogas was measured for each HRT starting on the second day HRT to 24th day HRT. Biogas characteristics were monitored on day 16th for contents of CH4, CO2 and heat value. Results show that CH4 content in the biogas amounts to 78.26 %, while CO2 comprises 20.16 %. Meanwhile, the heat value, which depends on acid methane and CO2 content, is 4,246.55 kkal/kg. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2018.

An ethnographic study using qualitative research methodology underwrites the following study. Withinthe current urban planning practice, the concept of public space exists in contradiction to private ownership. Within the global capitalist system, land is commodified like any other goodand is subject to ownership via the market mechanism. The endgame is for all land to have this status. In this context, there isbusiness. This paper, however, offers to renege on this perspective. It tries to understand public space within a system where use-value is the dominant concept. Taking Bali as its laboratory, this paper examines a hypothetical typology of public space that brings use values to the fore and denies the primacy of land as solely a profit-seeking medium for land rent, surplus value extraction from labor and profit on built form. While no doubt these processes will still take place, they must be assessed in the context of environmental ethics and fundamental human needs. In conclusion, this paper seeks a benevolent and humane planning practice that places people before profits. It implements this idea by saying that the creation of spaces whose use values can be accessed by all members of society must become the central planning strategy.

Leather industry is facing new trends on production and consumption patterns due to society *** economy is proposing a transition from the current economic model to a more sustainable one,in which waste is designed out and resources will be reused and recycled as long as *** this transition,Life Cycle Assessment(LCA) is an important tool to help *** the present review,39 English-written peer-reviewed papers related to LCA and leather have been found,30 of which were published in the last 6 years,meaning LCA is nowadays an important *** are presented within 4 types,focused on:1) the whole leather production process,2) a single step in the production process(e.g,new technologies for unhairing),3) waste treatment and recycling,and 4) life cycle thinking with ideas on long-term strategies for leather *** discussed in the literature review,leather industry has important challenges to address:increasing sustainability and transparency on the supply chain,and strengthening the beauty of *** up these challenges from a life cycle perspective will help leather industry flourish in the coming future.
