In this research, the Human Following Robot (HFR) prototype has been designed and implemented using YOLO v3-Tiny and Tensor Flow Lite on Raspberry Pi hardware named Rewang. The HFR Rewang is designed to assist aircraft technicians by bringing maintenance tool kits to aircraft shelters. Rewang's movement is based on a camera as a vision sensor following the movement of human entities. Image input is processed by YOLO v3-Tiny through the determination of the bounding box, the calculation of Euclidean Distance, and the determination of the pixel value of the camera as the basis of Rewang's movement which is regulated by an L298N driver motor that controls two Direct Current (DC) motors for the left and right wheels. The test results show that Rewang can move at an average speed of 0.18 m/s at 2 m with a travel time of 11 seconds with a light intensity of more than 250 lux. The minimum and maximum distance of object detection is as far as 120 cm and 400 cm, with an object detection accuracy of 95.8%. Rewang allows the HFR to have a larger carrying capacity to bring more complete aircraft maintenance tools and is prospective for other aerospace and general applications.

This paper models a platooning system consisting of trucks and a third-party service provider (TPSP), which performs platoon coordination, distributes the platooning profit in platoons, and charges trucks in exchange for the services. Government subsidies used to incentivize platooning are also considered. We propose a pricing rule for the TPSP, which keeps part of the platooning profit including the subsidy each time a platoon is formed. In addition, a platoon coordination solution based on the distributed model predictive control (MPC) is proposed, in which the pricing rule under government subsidies is integrated. We perform a realistic simulation over the Swedish road network to evaluate the impact of the pricing rule and subsidies on the achieved profits and fuel savings. Our results show that subsidies are an effective mean to boost fuel savings from platooning. Moreover, the simulation study indicates that high pricing corresponds to a low platooning rate of the system, as trucks' incentives for platooning decrease. © 2023 The Authors. This paper investigates the adaptive prescribed-time distributed Nash equilibrium (NE) seeking problems for networked games with heterogeneous dynamics and unknown uncertainties. The proposed algorithms are based on the two-layer structure, namely the NE seeking part and the tracking control part. For the players without uncertainties, the adaptive parameters are utilized in the seeking part to avoid the use of the global information. The auxiliary variables are constructed to seek for the NE point within the prescribed time and serve as the reference signals for the tracking control part. Then the state feedback control is designed to drive the strategies of all the players to the expected NE point in the prescribed time. Furthermore, the approximation theory is introduced to deal with the unknown nonlinear uncertainties. The exponential parameters are involved in the designed estimates to accelerate the convergence rate. The Lyapunov method is utilized to show the prescribed-time convergence property of the algorithms. Besides, although the time-varying piecewise function is involved in the algorithms, the uniform boundedness of the control input can be ensured by carefully selecting the initial values of the auxiliary parameters. Finally, the simulation is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms. © 2025 IEEE.

In recent years, reinforcement learning techniques have gained widespread application in control synthesis. However, in the context of safety-critical systems, employing trial-and-error based reinforcement learning may be unacceptable due to the potential risks it poses during the learning process. Consequently, the development of safe reinforcement learning techniques has become imperative. This paper addresses the challenge of safe reinforcement learning for controller synthesis, particularly when safety specifications are intricately linked to the real-time behavior of the system. To articulate time-sensitive requirements, we leverage Metric Interval Temporal Logic (MITL). To ensure safety throughout the learning process, we introduce an additional reactive controller called a shield. Specifically, the shield functions to reject any behavior that violates the real-time specifications, thus mitigating potential risks. The efficacy of our proposed approach is demonstrated through simulation results, highlighting its ability to satisfy safety constraints in the dynamic environment of controller synthesis.

The accurate prediction of remaining useful life (RUL) is vital to improve the safety and reliability of lithium-ion battery power systems. However, owing to the effects of state (work and storage) switching and retention time randomness, it is difficult to accurately predict the RUL of lithium-ion batteries in real time. This study uses a nonlinear-drift-driven Wiener process to describe the dynamic degradation paths of lithium-ion batteries, and utilizes the Markov chain to establish a switching model and to predict the future state-switching probability. The analytical distribution of the first arrival time of the lithium-ion battery failure threshold is derived, and the model posterior parameters are updated using the Bayesian strategy. Finally, the model is verified using a lithium-ion battery dataset from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The RUL prediction model that considers state switching is superior to models that do not consider state switching. Moreover, the model shows a relative error of only 5.9388%. Overall, this study provides a theoretical basis for the research and development of lithium-ion battery RUL prediction and health management systems. © 2023, Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co., Ltd.

This paper proposes a novel online-learning-enabled hierarchical distributionally robust energy management framework for multi-microgrids (MMGs) with off-site hydrogen refueling stations (HRSs). The proposed framework integrates day-ahead scheduling, intra-day rescheduling and real-time control. The day-ahead scheduling is implemented via a central energy management system for optimal joint scheduling of the MMG systems and off-site HRSs, then the intra-day rescheduling is carried out to optimize the real-time operation and to generate the reference for local controllers. To adequately characterize the statistical properties of renewable and load uncertainties from data streams, we leverage a Dirichlet process mixture model to construct an online-update ambiguity set, which encodes multimodality and local moment information. Based upon this ambiguity set, an online-learning distributionally robust model predictive control (OL-DRMPC) is developed to enhance the tracking performance of energy storage references and to reduce conservatism while guaranteeing probabilistic operational constraints. Its effectiveness is verified in a case study. © 2022 IEEE.

Global Navigation Satellite systems (GNSS) can provide real-time positioning information for outdoor users, but cannot for indoor scenarios or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios. Strap-down Inertial Navigation system (SINS) are widely used to locate people in complex interior or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios due to its light weight and low power consumption. However, IMU of SINS are noisy, and the sampling data error is large, which is a divergence of the error with time. Therefore, it will generate a positioning accumulation error, which affects the final positioning accuracy. The problem of cumulative IMU errors is usually dealt with by Zero-Velocity Update (ZUPT). The zero-velocity detection part of basic ZUPT method usually uses a single threshold to determine the gait of pedestrian, which often has the problem of gait misjudgment and omission. To address these problems, this paper proposes a composite conditional detection method to solve the problem of misjudgment in the zero-velocity interval. In addition, we redesign the zero-velocity update algorithm and uses the Cubature Kalman filter (CKF) for pedestrian positioning error correction. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ZUPT method based on dual-threshold detection can better detect the interval between pedestrian motion and stationery than ones with single threshold. The zero-velocity update algorithm based on CKF has higher performance than conventional EKF and UKF methods, which constrains the cumulative error of SINS to about 0.2% of the whole walking distance. © 2023 IEEE.

Electric vehicles (EVs) have experienced an unprecedented increase in their penetration; in well developed countries; due to the advancement of battery technology and the need to make transportation more environmentally friendly. As a result of this trend, EVs have become an integral part of those countries power grid ecosystem, where they may be used as both a source, and a consumer of energy. However, cybersecurity risks associated with large fleets of EVs within the power grids can significantly impact the normal operation of distribution systems. This paper considers the cyber-attack consequences, from attackers’ perspective. The cyber attackers under study target the charging price (CP) by increasing the CP in off-peak hours and accordingly subsiding it in on-peak hours. A two-stage optimization framework is proposed to identify the most important ultra-fast charging stations (XFCs) under the cyber-attack, meanwhile, the EV users’ response to the compromised CP is considered. Then, the proposed model is implemented on a modified IEEE 123-bus distribution test system, and the effectiveness of the model is proved through some case studies. In particular, they demonstrated that the amount of load shedding is increased by 8.198 MW when the EV user response is taken into account.
