The capacitor placement in radial feeders is an efficient way to mitigate energy losses of distribution networks, where the power converted to useless heat is much higher than transmission system. These considerable power losses increase network operating costs and also decrease quality and quantity of delivered power. Shunt capacitors by compensating part of load reactive power reduce magnitude of feeder current and subsequent distribution losses. However, electricity demand variations with time affects power distributed through feeders and therefore have important role in energy losses determination. Thus, load variability may change the optimal places of capacitors, but considering whole load variations substantially increases the burden and computational time of capacitor placement problem in large-sized distribution systems. Therefore, current study poses an effective capacitor placement formulation for energy loss reduction in the presence of time-varying loads. The numerical results analysis demonstrates the good performance of the presented framework for the optimal placement of capacitor banks in radial distribution feeders with variable loads.

Lithium-ion batteries (LIB) are the best technology for supplying and storing energy for electric mobility systems. Despite that, this technology is sensitive to abuses that can compromise its lifetime and cause fire and explosion risks. In this context, if LIB is not correctly controlled, some abuses, such as overcharging (OC) and over-discharging (OD), can be observed and provoke a loss of capacity. Therefore, this work presented the application of several experiments in cells, of the NMC type, under OC and the combination of OC and OD. The results indicated that cells charged until 4.4 and 4.5 V and discharged until 3.0 V do not lose capacity for twenty-five cycles, but more cycles should be done to understand the impact over time. On the other side, the cell charged until 4.6 and 4.8 V had its security protection romped in the fourth charging cycle, and the cell charged until 5.0 V had its safety compromised in the first charging cycle. Conversely, cells with a combination of OC and OD were more compromised. In this context, while a cell is submitted only with OC and does not lose capacity, a cell under OC and then under OD had its protection romped in the third charging cycle. Cells under 4.6 V and 4.8 V lost capacity during the second charging cycle. In conclusion, OC provokes a high level of degradation in the cell, but the combination of OC and OD causes even more degradation.

Morocco is one of the important producers of wheat in Africa, in which this crop is the first agricultural product in the country. In spite of obtaining a huge quantity of wheat residues in the Moroccan agriculture sector, a small portion of this great bioenergy resource is reused for energy generation in the country. This is a big challenge for Morocco because its energy sector highly depends on costly fossil fuel imports. Furthermore, the country has to decrease harmful gases emission based on the Paris and Kyoto agreements. Regarding the importance of rainfall amount and water resources available for this agricultural product that is the main feedstock of Moroccan food, the use of wheat biomass to produce energy will remove high pressure from both the national energy and agriculture sectors. Besides that, the problems related to crop residue removal are reduced by using wheat biomass. Also, the use of wheat residues for energy generation pushes farmers to prevent the open firing of wheat straws and unnecessary air pollutants release. Thus, the present paper, for the first time, calculates possible energy production from wheat straws and root biomasses in Morocco, aiming to provide useful information for Morocco's energy sector.

Wireless communication via unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has drawn a great deal of attention due to its flexibility in establishing line-of-sight (LoS) communications. However, in complex urban and dynamic environments, the movement of UAVs can be blocked by trees and high-rise buildings that obstruct directional paths. This problem can be effectively addressed by employing reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS). To achieve this goal, accurate channel estimation in RIS-assisted UAV-enabled wireless communications is crucial. This paper proposes an accurate channel estimation model using long short-term memory (LSTM) for a multi-user RIS-assisted UAV-enabled wireless communications system. Simulation results showed that LSTM can effectively improve the channel estimation performance of RIS-assisted UAV-enabled wireless communications.

Capacitor placement in electric power systems is an effective way to minimize energy losses, especially in distribution systems, where power losses are more than transmission ones. On the other hand, time-varying load levels affect energy losses amount in such networks. Therefore, load profile has an important role in determining the amount of power losses and the optimal place of shunt capacitors in radial feeders. However, embedding load variability in the capacitor placement problem enhances the computational burden and processing time, while its ignorance leads to inaccurate calculation of energy losses and subsequent optimal locations of capacitor banks. Hence, most of specialized studies have ignored load changes in their capacitor placement models because of computational burden and processing time increase. Accordingly, the present paper intent to evaluate the effect of consumption patterns on capacitor placement proposals in order to understand the importance of load variability consideration in reducing power losses through reactive power compensation. The analysis has been carried out using a mathematical programming language in several distribution systems.
