Despite various attempts throughout past decades to deal with concurrent delays in construction project schedules, they continue to be a vexing issue that has eluded an unambiguous solution. Prior studies have resorted to the prime contract, which only binds general contractor and owner, cannot be proven to be fair, and may even be biased. Therefore, this paper adopts a concept from cooperative game theory, the Shapley value, which apportions profits (which project participants seek to maximize). Creatively applying it to liquidated damages (which they seek to minimize), the model uses all participants' actual finish dates as input to gain percentage shares of liquidated damages as output. Analyzing all possible coalitions among participants and assigning weights comprehensively assesses their marginal contributions to the project finish date. This generalized view of participants explicitly includes subcontractors, whom prior approaches typically ignored. An example demonstrates how the model also implies an early completion bonus. This yields compelling implications for real-world incentives that can be cast into future contract clauses. © ASCE.

The 2011 flood in Thailand exposed significant vulnerabilities in industrial areas, highlighting the necessity for enhanced disaster risk management through Area-Business Continuity management (Area-BCM). This preliminary study focuses on identifying how stakeholders rely on information from each other to improve disaster preparedness and response. The research involves systematically identifying Area-BCM stakeholders and designing interview questions, which are evaluated by experts using the Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) to ensure relevance and clarity. All interview questions surpassed the IOC threshold of 0.5, confirming their effectiveness in capturing information interdependencies. Expert feedback led to refinements in the questions, underscoring the importance of tailored data collection. This initial plan provides a critical foundation for understanding information interdependence and highlights the importance of well-designed data collection methods. The findings have significant implications for developing more resilient disaster management strategies in industrial areas, emphasizing the need for precise and relevant stakeholder communication to enhance Area-BCM effectiveness. © 2024 IEEE.

The ASEAN region faces unique challenges in urban transportation due to rapid urbanization, increasing population densities, and the growing demand for sustainable mobility solutions. This study does a thorough bibliometric analysis of the patterns and advancements in smart mobility, with the objective of tackling these difficulties between 2013 and 2023, focusing on 1,249 peer-reviewed publications. The analysis shows a consistent increase in research effort, with publications reaching their highest point in the past two years. The study identified six main research areas: Intelligent Transportation Systems, Public Transportation, Smart City, Urban Mobility, Autonomous Vehicle, and Advanced Mobility Technologies. The findings suggest a transition from conventional transportation systems to integrated, technologically enhanced solutions prioritizing sustainability and efficiency. The study emphasizes the importance of innovation in addressing urban transportation issues in ASEAN cities and proposes potential areas for further research, including incorporating emerging technology and analyzing socio-economic effects. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Internet of Things (IoT) is an environment in which digital equipment is augmented with sensors to share and receive data through network. When devices share data it can be effected by anomalies or any attack due to corrupted data or by any other uncertainty and ambiguity in data. The data can also be corrupted through a damage in device. These attacks or anomalies damage the working of the IoT networks. The anomalous data can be detected through detection techniques however most anomaly detection techniques depend upon labelled data but for IoT datasets, usually class labels are not available. Labeling is performed by a manual process which is time consuming and also costly. As data in IoT increases day by day so there is a need to label and classify data for future unseen data. In this paper a hybrid algorithm is proposed in which both clustering and classification techniques are applied for automatic labeling and classifying on IoT dataset. The model contains two function. In the first phase k-means clustering is employed for labelling dataset instances as normal or anomalous. In the second phase labelled dataset is used to train Random Forest model to detect anomalies in IoT networks. The results show that the proposed model is detecting anomalies in IoT networks with an accuracy 98%, precision 98 %, recall 98%, and F-meausre 0.98%. © 2023 IEEE.

The food supply chain at present is important to the human and there have a lot of transportation modes to distribute food from manufacturer to customer also business to business. The customers there need fresh food and the providers always find the best way in logistics that send their food to customers with the best quality and fresh, that is why the cold chain of logistics is popular and needs to improve more for the customers. However, there is no clear way to improve the performance and assessment of food logistics service, the aim of this study focused on service quality of food logistics and identify a set of service quality dimensions that developed from the SERVQUAL model for measuring their logistics process after that researcher prioritized the dimensions and sub-dimensions by Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and finalize the local weight and global weight from AHP result. Finally, this research has shown the providers and the customers were prioritized for punctuality in food logistics service. It should be concern and improvement about punctuality in a food logistics service at the same time, the worst dimension of the provider's perspective is tangible and the customer perspective is empathy, that they did not pay attention it should be improved later. © 2023 IEEE.

Diagnosability is an important parameter to measure the fault tolerance of a multiprocessor system. If we only care about the state of a node, instead of doing the global diagnosis, Hsu and Tan proposed the idea of local diagnosis. Chiang and Tan provided an extended star structure to diagnose a node under comparison model. In this work, we evaluate the local diagnosability better by proposing a tree structure around this node. We provide the corresponding algorithm to diagnose the node. Simulation results are presented for different failure probability of a node in the tree and different percentage of faulty nodes in the tree, showing the performance of our algorithm. © 2024 Institute of Information Science. This study employed a quasi-experimental method to explore differences in students’ learning performance and engagement between visual and textual language programming environments. Specifically, this study examined how strongly engagement dimensions affect participants’ learning achievement in a Scratch experimental setting. One hundred and thirty-two undergraduate students participated. The results revealed that participants with Scratch intervention outperformed those with text-based language instructions in terms of performance and behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and agentic engagement. The findings indicated that engagement significantly predicted student academic success in a visual learning environment. This study concluded that visual programming tools such as Scratch help novices engaged and effectively learn core aspects of programming concepts. Additionally, student engagement deepens an understanding of predictions of programmers’ behaviors and achievements and mechanisms behind the effectiveness of visualization intervention. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this study, we develop warranty cost models for a warranted product that is also protected by lemon laws. The product is viewed as a multi-component system consisting of critical (C) and non-critical (NC) components. We model failure process of each type of components, which considers a bidirectional (or mutual) failure interaction between the C and NC components. Hence, each component has two types of failures -i.e., natural failure and induced failure. The product is declared a lemon if the recurrent failures of C or NC component occur - i.e., when the number of the C or NC component failures reaches the threshold value, k. If a lemon is declared, the manufacturer will provide either a refund or a replacement to the consumer. Then, we develop the warranty cost models for the two cases (i.e., refund and replacement cases) and find the optimal lemon law period that minimizes the expected warranty cost rate. The numerical examples are provided to illustrate the expected warranty cost and the optimal lemon law period. © 2022 IEEE.

This research develops an intelligent automatic production loading and unloading solution for a multi-process part. According to the posture required for each processing operation of each part, a novel gripper and carrier that can implement multi-position clamping are designed. The Beckhoff controller is adopted as the host controller in the control system to integrate the robotic arm (including the vision system), the automated guided vehicle (AGV), and the computer numerical control (CNC) machine. The main topic of this research is to meet the requirements of automatic loading and unloading in the processing of the entire production line. It will significantly reduce the workforce consumption of the processing production line and avoid human error, thereby improving processing reproducibility and product production stability. © 2023 IEEE.

Business cards have always been a traditional item for any professional's repertoire;it allows the receiver to get a basic idea of who the sender is and what organization they belong to. However, this requires said professionals to design and create their cards if they are not affiliated with any business entity. This process can take up a large sum of time and skills that may not be in the scope of the person in question. This paper aims to develop an application that automatically generates a usable digital business card simulated in a three-dimensional plane. The application will also act as an exploration of the Swift Language, developed by Apple Inc. Swift and its frameworks are relatively new to the programming scene;therefore, this paper will test their capabilities and potential to be implemented in other firms like other programming languages. © 2022 IEEE.
