Reshaping energy horizon of Iran: investigating economic sanctions, export diversification, and environmental resilience

Employing robust methodologies, including principal component analysis, autoregressive moving average, Fourier bootstrap dynamic autoregressive distributed lag, error correction model, and the Breitung–Candelon spectral Granger causality test, this study scrutinizes the impact of export diversification (EXD) on Iran’s ecological footprint (EF) from 1997 to 2020, considering economic sanctions (ESI), trade openness (TOP), energy consumption per capita (ECpc), globalization (KOF), and real GDP per capita (RGDPpc). Findings consistently affirm a positive environmental impact of EXD, revealing a nuanced temporal pattern. Notably, the short-term impact (− 0.645) is more pronounced than its long-term counterpart (−.020). Increased industrial activities due to globalization (10% rise) lead to 4.26% and 1.64% EF degradation in the long and short term. Conversely, due to Iran’s heavy reliance on fossil fuels, a 10% rise in ECpc correlates with 1.63% and 3.81% long- and short-term environmental quality reduction. ESI demonstrates a dual impact, improving short-term environmental quality but contributing to long-term degradation. Frequency-domain causality analysis highlights EXD and KOF as short- and long-term causes of EF, ESI, and TOP as medium- to long-term causes and RGDPpc as a long-term cause. These findings emphasize the need for sustainable policies, stringent environmental standards, and a balanced approach to fostering economic growth while preserving the environment. Presently,customer retention is essential for reducing customer churn in telecommunication *** churn prediction(CCP)is important to predict the possibility of customer retention in the quality of *** risks of customer churn also get essential,the rise of machine learning(ML)models can be employed to investigate the characteristics of customer ***,deep learning(DL)models help in prediction of the customer behavior based characteristic *** the DL models necessitate hyperparameter modelling and effort,the process is difficult for research communities and business *** this view,this study designs an optimal deep canonically correlated autoencoder based prediction(ODCCAEP)model for competitive customer dependent application *** addition,the O-DCCAEP method purposes for determining the churning nature of the *** O-DCCAEP technique encompasses preprocessing,classification,and hyperparameter ***,the DCCAE model is employed to classify the churners or ***,the hyperparameter optimization of the DCCAE technique occurs utilizing the deer hunting optimization algorithm(DHOA).The experimental evaluation of the O-DCCAEP technique is carried out against an own dataset and the outcomes highlighted the betterment of the presented O-DCCAEP approach on existing approaches.

Price and quality level of products are two important decisions of any business. This paper provides equilibrium solutions for these decisions of two players for a cybersecurity ecosystem, including a solution provider and an information provider. We assume that end users join a cybersecurity ecosystem based on the prices and qualities of the solution provider’s and information provider’s products;so that, the increasing of the prices or/and decreasing the qualities will reduce the number of end-users of that ecosystem. Also, it is assumed that there is an exogenous information-sharing program under which the effect of quality of the information provider’s product on the cybersecurity level depends on the level of information-sharing. Under this information-sharing program, the equilibrium solutions of prices and qualities of these two players are given. The Langat River Basin in Malaysia is vulnerable to soil erosion risks because of its exposure to intensive land use activities and its topography,which primarily consists of steep slopes and mountainous ***,climate change frequently exposes this basin to drought,which negatively affects soil and water ***,recent studies have rarely shown how soil reacts to drought,such as soil ***,the purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between drought and soil erosion in the Langat River *** analyzed drought indices using Landsat 8 satellite images in November 2021,and created the normalized differential water index(NDWI)via Landsat 8 data to produce a drought *** used the revised universal soil loss equation(RUSLE)model to predict soil *** verified an association between the NDWI and soil erosion data using a correlation *** results revealed that the southern and northern regions of the study area experienced drought *** predicted an average annual soil erosion of approximately 58.11 t/(hm^(2)·a).Analysis of the association between the NDWI and soil erosion revealed a strong positive correlation,with a Pearson correlation coefficient of *** assumed that the slope length and steepness factor was the primary contributor to soil erosion in the study *** a result,these findings can help authorities plan effective measures to reduce the impacts of drought and soil erosion in the future.

Virtual reality has become a new option to inform the customers about product before purchasing. However, providing virtual reality may create new challenges. For instance, consumers may obtain essential information about products by using virtual reality option, but eventually they buy their products from the offline channel. This phenomenon is called webrooming. Another challenge is cyber-attacks. E-tailers and their consumers face risks from cyber-attacks. Thus, e-tailers are investing to improve cybersecurity. We consider a dual-channel supply chain consisting of an offline retailer and an e-tailer who purchase the same product from a manufacturer at the same wholesale price. The e-tailer offers a partial refund policy in order to attract the customers. Also, to reduce consumer valuation uncertainty, the e-tailer faces the decision on whether to introduce virtual reality. We analyze three scenarios. Firstly, the e-tailer does not offer virtual reality. Secondly, the e-tailer offers virtual reality, but he does not invest on cybersecurity. As the end-users increasingly can provide flexibility to the power system, it is important to consider how this flexibility can be activated as a resource for the grid. Electricity network tariffs is one option that can be used to activate this flexibility. Therefore, by designing efficient grid tariffs, it might be possible to reduce the total costs in the power system by incentivizing a change in consumption patterns. This paper provides a methodology for optimal grid tariff design under decentralized decision-making and uncertainty in demand, power prices, and renewable generation. A bilevel model is formulated to adequately describe the interaction between the end-users and a distribution system operator. In addition, a centralized decision-making model is provided for benchmarking purposes. The bilevel model is reformulated as a mixed-integer linear problem solvable by branch-and-cut techniques. Results based on both deterministic and stochastic settings are presented and discussed. The findings suggest how electricity grid tariffs should be designed to provide an efficient price signal for reducing aggregate network peaks.

Propranolol hydrochloride can be considered a persistent and bioaccumulative pharmaceutical in the *** drug and its by-products are potentially toxic and have adverse effects,since these compounds have been associated with endocrine-disrupting effects,reproductive deficiencies,embryo abnormalities and pericardial ***_(2)–La 0.05%–carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin(CMCD)nanoparticles were successfully prepared by a simple two-step method,which consists of sonification and *** characterization analyses reveal that lanthanum is dispersed on the semiconductor surface,probably forming Ti–O–La bonds,which can induce oxygen vacancies and surface defects that effectively restrain the recombination of photogenerated electron/holes *** efficiency of TiO_(2)–La 0.05%–CMCD samples in degradation of propranolol under UV-light irradiation is higher than that of pristine TiO_(2) within 20 min reaction,probably due to complex formation between theβ-blocker and the oligosaccharide,which allows us to propose a photocatalytic mechanism based on the formation of intermediates and competition of these compounds to the radicals and CMCD cavities.

Proficiency in foreign languages is crucial for effective global operations, and proficiency can be gained from training courses. In this work, we study the influence of various training courses by analyzing a 9,436-row dataset, including factors such as language, test timing, and their effect on an individual's language test performance. Both logistic regression algorithms and neural networks were employed to analyze the factors influencing language test scores. The key findings reveal that while the neural network model slightly outperformed the logistic regression model in terms of positive class recall (0.69 vs. 0.61), the logistic regression model is preferred due to its greater interpretability and generalizability. Notably, the logistic regression model identified higher initial reading scores and frequent testing as significant predictors of score improvement. Importantly, the logistic regression model achieved an accuracy of 0.78, which significantly surpasses the trivial model's accuracy of 0.51. This study contributes to the field of predictive analytics in language proficiency and provides actionable insights for future research and policy-making in defense language programs. Heat exchangers are utilized extensively in different industries and ***,optimizing heat exchangers has been a major concern among *** various studies have been conducted to improve the heat transfer rate,the use of a wavy wall in the presence of different types of heat transfer mechanisms has not been *** study thus investigates the mixed heat transmission behavior of fluid in a horizontal channel with a cavity and a hot,wavy *** fluid flow in the channel is considered laminar,and the governing equations including continuity,momentum,and energy are all solved *** numerical solution is stabilized by using a first-order multi-dimensional characteristic-based scheme in combination with a fifth-order Runge-Kutta *** flow and heat transfer effects of varying Richardson numbers,Reynolds numbers,wave amplitude,wavelength,channel height,and cavity width are *** results indicate that the mean Nusselt number increases with an increase in Reynolds number,wave amplitude,and cavity width,while it decreases with an increase in Richardson number,wavelength,and channel *** minimum Nusselt number is calculated to be 0.7,whereas the maximum Nusselt number is *** Nusselt number has only increased by 40%in the higher depths of the cavity,despite the Richardson number being 10,000 times *** this figure increases to 130%at lower *** mean Nusselt number is thus significantly influenced by channel height and cavity *** influence of wave amplitude on the mean Nusselt number is twice that of wavelength.

This study introduces the Harmony Model, which examines factors influencing the success of online learning and the workload of lecturers. Drawing upon the Theory of Action Reason, it explores the impact of student satisfaction and lecturers' willingness to prepare course materials. The model emphasizes the challenge faced by lecturers in creating high-quality content and highlights the importance of balancing supporting factors and alleviating the associated burden. Strategies to enhance online learning effectiveness should address both lecturers' motivation and student satisfaction. Identifying determinant factors and analyzing their impact on material development can increase lecturers' willingness to provide appropriate course materials. Knowledge extraction processes and satisfaction-related factors play crucial roles. This study offers insights to enhance the online learning experience, optimize learning outcomes, and improve overall effectiveness. © 2023 IEEE.
