This study explores the feasibility of using large language models (LLMs), specifically GPT-4o (ChatGPT), for automated grading of conceptual questions in an undergraduate Mechanical engineering course. We compared the grading performance of GPT-4o with that of human teaching assistants (TAs) on ten quiz problems from the MEEN 361 course at Texas A&M University, each answered by approximately 225 students. Both the LLM and TAs followed the same instructor-provided rubric to ensure grading consistency. We evaluated performance using Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) to assess the alignment between rankings and the accuracy of scores assigned by GPT-4o and TAs under zero- and few-shot grading settings. In the zero-shot setting, GPT-4o demonstrated a strong correlation with TA grading, with Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient exceeding 0.6 in seven out of ten datasets and reaching a high of 0.9387. Our analysis reveals that GPT-4o performs well when grading criteria are straightforward but struggles with nuanced answers, particularly those involving synonyms not present in the rubric. The model also tends to grade more stringently in ambiguous cases compared to human TAs. Big data refers to big data, fast data processing, diversity of data structures, and data values so that it is not possible to be processed with outdated methods. Big data technology is used in various industrial sectors. Big data technology is the whole technology that can handle Big Data. Some of the uses of big data are based on the largest significant data traffic sources such as social media, financial transactions, public data, sensor data, and corporate data. The same is the case with the status of so many villages in Indonesia, so it is better to use big data for the classification of village status based on the village index build by involving an algorithm process. This research aims to produce a description of the role of big data in supporting activities in a grouping. The method used is a qualitative approach related to data collection based on scientific work with the source of data information needed to study literature techniques from various studies that have been published in national and international journals. A decision is made that big data has been widely used in different circles to facilitate performance and speed up the decision-making process. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study examines the decline in the usage of the Javanese language, which has experienced a decrease in the number of speakers from approximately 82 million in 2007 to 68.2 million in 2015. The convergence of the Javanese script and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology is proposed as a solution, allowing for the preservation and accessibility of the Javanese script in the digital age. The integration of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in Javanese script classification achieved a high accuracy rate of 92.95% in identifying positive and negative cases. The dataset used for training consisted of 8440 sample images, which were divided into 20 subfolders for training and testing. The results presented in Table IV demonstrate the successful implementation of the classification model, achieving a 98.87% sensitivity, 100% precision, and 98.88% specificity. This research contributes to the preservation and understanding of the culturally significant Javanese script while addressing the decline in its usage.

One of the methods used to increase channel capacity is the Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) methods. The increase in channel capacity in PD-NOMA multiple access means that the maximum power used by each user in each narrow band achieves increased power efficiency. Therefore, this research focuses on facilitating the increase in channel capacity by designing an antenna that produces a radiation pattern with many sharp main lobes and high gain. The multi-beam radiation pattern is obtained by using edge weighting. Therefore the antenna is designed with odd and even numbers represented by 1x5 and 1x6 antennas on the microstrip patch rectangular antenna at a frequency of 2.6 GHz. The effect of parasitic and non-parasite effects on the radiation pattern of a planar antenna with edge modeling is manageable in the main lobe, only in the side level lobe, which is not too significant. However, the number of main lobes on the 1x6 antenna has seven beam patterns, and the 1x5 antenna has five. The highest gain value obtains in the 1x6 design with a parasitic of 6.01 dB. This value meets the Gain requirements for 5G cellular systems.

This study explores the feasibility of deep learning for classifying nodule neoplasms, analyzing their performance on two openly available datasets, LUNGx SPIE, and LIDC-IDRI. These datasets offer valuable diversity in image quantity, quality, and malignancy annotation methodologies, posing a real-world challenge for effective model development. To handle the disparities in these diverse datasets, we aim to develop a robust classification model trained using federated learning. This decentralized approach allows model training across datasets without sharing patient data, preserving privacy and overcoming data fragmentation. Our experiments demonstrate that federated learning enables the development of a robust and superior deep learning model compared to individual models trained on limited data. This combination of deep learning, and federated learning holds immense promise for nodule neoplasm classification and can significantly improve patient care and outcomes. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In presence of complex-hydrodynamic interaction between water wave and moving structure, a reliable method that can analyse nonlinear phenomena is necessarily required. This paper presents numerical investigation of a moored floating breakwater using computational fluid dynamic (CFD) approach. The mathematical model is based on the extended Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes (RANS) solver for solid-porous obstacle. A high amplitude wave with several wave periods were deliberately considered in the simulation to allow nonlinear wave effects on the floating structure such as wave breaking, overtopping, including viscous friction. Here, the two fluid calculation method for interface boundary between water and air is proposed to capture the complex free surface changes. In addition, the fractional average volume obstacle representation (FAVOR) using partial cell treatment method is employed to simulate the motion of breakwater boundary on the free surface. Approximations and validations on the hydrodynamic properties of the structure have been carried out which include wave transmission coefficient, sway, heave, pitch, and mooring forces. The results show that the CFD model can fairly simulate well on hydrodynamics of the floating breakwater. The discrepancies between numerical and experimental data can be partly attributed to the nonlinearity in the incident wave definition. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Recently, data mining has been implemented in various fields, including business and telecommunications. Data mining is a technique for extracting and detecting patterns in massive data sets that combines machine learning, statistics, and database systems. One of the most important use-cases in data mining is finding the high-frequency patterns between the set of itemset called association rules. Association rule mining is a well-researched technique for finding some relations between variables in large databases. This paper aims to measure the performance of the Apriori and Frequent Pattern Tree algorithms by comparing them using several points of comparison. Then we compared the outputs, whether they produce the same or different rules, to find out whether the way the two algorithms work is similar or not. After that, we looked for the itemsets that best match the reality in the market by giving them to a user who had transaction data from his spare parts shop. © 2021 ACM.

The field of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is experiencing significant growth as it involves the integration of medical devices and systems with the internet and various digital technologies. This study provides a bibliometric analysis of scholarly articles pertaining to the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) during the time frame of 2018 to 2022. The analysis is conducted using data sourced from the Scopus database. A total of 1165 documents were identified and analyzed to gain insights into the current state of research in this field. The analysis includes trends in publication output, top authors and institutions, and key research topics. The results of the analysis indicate a steady increase in publication output on IoMT over the past five years, with the highest number of publications in 2022. The top authors in this field were Mohanty, S.P., Kougianos, E., and Pirbhulal, S., while the top institutions were King Saud University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and University of North Texas. Co-citation analysis revealed that wearable devices, telemedicine, and data analytics were among the key research topics in IoMT. This bibliometric analysis offers useful insights into the present research landscape of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) spanning the years 2018 to 2022. The findings can be beneficial for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and funding agencies in understanding the trends and priorities in this field. One of the essential parts of drug discovery and design is the prediction of drug-target affinity (DTA). Researchers have proposed computational approaches for predicting DTA to circumvent the more expensive in vivo and in vitro tests. More recent approaches employed deep network architectures to obtain the features from the drug molecules and protein sequences. The drug compounds are represented as graphs and the target protein as a sequence to extract this information. In this work, we develop a new graph-based prediction model, termed LE-DTA, that utilizes local extrema convolutions for effective feature extraction. It focuses on the local and global extrema of graphs for node embedding. We investigated the performances of both the proposed models on three different benchmark datasets. Our proposed model showed improvement in CI by 1.12% and 0.35% and a reduction in MSE by 7.7% and 3.33% on the KIBA and BindingDB datasets, respectively. we also showed that despite using various pooling operations on our proposed model, we achieved an average reduction in MSE by 7% on the KIBA dataset and 3% improvement on the BindingDB dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

Forest fires have been detected to occur in Indonesia since 1998. The forest fires mostly resulted from human activities in order to expand their land, especially oil palm lands. Once a land clearing is carried out, it covers areas of tens to hundreds of thousands of hectares. The peak of the forest fires occurred in 2015 when almost half of the world was affected especially by smoke from the fire. In 2011, VIIRS (Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite) was launched by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). In their collected data, there is data on Indonesia issued daily for areas in the islands of Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and the general areas of Indonesia. The VIIRS night data shows the possibility of some burning at night. We need to identify burnings that potentially become fires, which are potentially producing smoke. It is important to observe areas where large-scale forest fires frequently occur, so the authority could do some prevention beforehand. Using existing data released per day per area, we utilize an ANN (Artificial Neural Network) to identify a potential fire. The processes start with data cleaning and processing, Neural Network creation, and finally ANN training and testing. By using the ANN prediction model with the MinMax Scaler, we choose variables Temperature, Radiant Heat Intensity, and Source Footprint. Simulations are made to show the ranges of these variables that predict the possibility of’flame’ status occurring. We conclude that the ANN method can give more accurate results than the existing classification. © Copyright owned by the author(s) under the terms of the Creative Commons.
