This paper introduces a hybrid control strategy that integrates the unique features of natural logarithm sliding mode control (lnSMC) and fuzzy logic systems. The lnSMC control approach ensures that the vibration amplitude remains within a bound, as determined by the parameters of the lnSMC switching function. Furthermore, the fuzzy logic system is employed to approximate the nonlinearities and uncertainties inherent in the suspension system components, such as the spring and damper. The stability of the closed-loop system is analyzed using the Lyapunov stability theorem, guaranteeing convergence within a finite time. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed controller, a simulation study was carried out using a quarter-car suspension model, considering the system’s nonlinearities, parameter uncertainties, and various external disturbances. The results indicate that the proposed controller significantly improves ride comfort while maintaining suspension deflection and road holding within critical safety limits.

In this work, a photovoltaic (PV) microinverter is developed, which includes an hybrid energy storage system based on a battery and an ultracapacitor that are connected in parallel to the dc-link through two buck-boost bidirectional converters. The PV panel is connected in parallel to dc-link through an unidirectional boost converter. For the dc-ac stage, a two-stage Flyback / H-bridge inverter will be considered, which will be used to inject the available power into a microgrid. The study proposes the necessary control strategies to manage the power flow according to generation and injection conditions, where a virtual impedance loop is incorporated in the control of the energy storage elements. The presented results confirm the suitability of the proposed strategy.

Fish image classification presents an intriguing challenge in the field of computer vision. This research aims to develop an accurate classification model to differentiate between four different fish species using a convolutional neural network. The dataset used consists of $\mathbf{3 0 1 0}$ fish images, divided into training, validation, and testing sets. The convolutional neural network model was trained both with and without data augmentation. Evaluation results show that the model trained with data augmentation achieved an accuracy of $95 \%$ with a loss value of 0.0983, slightly better than the model without augmentation which achieved an accuracy of $94.56 \%$ with a loss value of $\mathbf{0. 1 7 9 4}$. This indicates that data augmentation techniques are effective in improving model performance, likely because augmentation helps the model generalize better to variations in fish image data. The results of this research demonstrate the significant potential of convolutional neural network for fish image classification tasks. The developed model can serve as a foundation for the development of computer vision-based applications such as automatic fish species identification in fisheries or educational applications. Further research can be conducted by exploring different convolutional neural network architectures, more advanced data augmentation techniques, and larger datasets to improve model performance.

The popularity of Metaverse as an entertainment, social, and work platform has led to a great need for seamless avatar integration in the virtual world. In Metaverse, avatars must be updated and rendered to reflect users' behaviour. Achieving real-time synchronization between the virtual bilocation and the user is complex, placing high demands on the Metaverse Service Provider (MSP)'s rendering resource allocation scheme. To tackle this issue, we propose a semantic communication framework that leverages contest theory to model the interactions between users and MSPs and determine optimal resource allocation for each user. To reduce the consumption of network resources in wireless transmission, we use the semantic communication technique to reduce the amount of data to be transmitted. Under our simulation settings, the encoded semantic data only contains 51 bytes of skeleton coordinates instead of the image size of 8.243 megabytes. Moreover, we implement Deep Q-Network to optimize reward settings for maximum performance and efficient resource allocation. With the optimal reward setting, users are incentivized to select their respective suitable uploading frequency, reducing down-sampling loss due to rendering resource constraints by 66.076% compared with the traditional average distribution method. The framework provides a novel solution to resource allocation for avatar association in VR environments, ensuring a smooth and immersive experience for all users.
