Over the years, analysis of Singularly Boundary Value Problems have been achieved by applying various methods and or techniques. Fundamental issues have been on the existence and uniqueness of solutions, as well as approximation of solutions when they exist. In this work, the solution of certain classes of Singular Initial and Boundary Value Problems are approximated using the Iterative Decomposition Method and the Bernstein Polynomials Method. Solutions are presented in each case as easily computable terms of an infinite convergent series. Numerical examples are given to establish the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Disease diagnosis is a crucial component of healthcare for early disease detection and treatment. Recent machine learning techniques have improved efficiency and accuracy due to the abundance of available medical data. In this study, various algorithms for diagnosing heart disease are examined, including Random Forest (RF), Decision Tree (DT), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Logistic Regression (LR), Naive Bayes (NB), Ensemble Learning and Support Vector Machine (SVM). This study's findings will advance disease diagnosis methods and build a more efficient healthcare system. Medical professionals can use machine learning to diagnose diseases, provide better patient care, and save lives. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper introduces the development and implementation of a Top-order Multi-step Block Method (TMBM) tailored for the numerical solution of third-order boundary value problems (BVPs) in ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Traditional numerical methods often face challenges in accurately solving such complex problems, especially in scenarios where higher-order accuracy and computational efficiency are paramount. The methodology adopts the principle of collocation and interpolation in its derivation. The TMBM combines the benefits of higher-order accuracy and block processing techniques to provide robust solutions while maintaining computational tractability. Through a comprehensive analysis and three numerical experiments, the efficacy and advantages of the TMBM are demonstrated, showcasing its potential for addressing a wide range of third-order BVPs encountered in various scientific and engineering applications.

The majority of studies investigating the social psychology theory of growth and fixed mindsets have taken place in primary and secondary schools outside of Africa. In this study, we investigate the effects of mindset on first-year students' academic achievement at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. The Theories of Intelligence Scale (TIS) questionnaire was used to measure students' mindsets across three first-year courses and the period of several mathematics tests. Both the effect on students' progress across tests and between different courses was studied with respect to mindset. Statistical analysis showed that students in science and engineering programs had higher mindset scores than commerce students. Mindset scores did not significantly predict engineering students' performance in an introductory calculus course. The results of this study will guide future research into the effect of non-cognitive factors such as mindsets on the academic achievement of engineering students. © 2020 IEEE.

Ecologically, mangroves play an important role because they have high primary and secondary productivity so they can support the existence of flora and fauna that live in mangrove ecosystems. Mangrove as a feeding ground is appropriate habitat for macrofauna associated in mangrove such as macrozoobenthos. The objectives of the present study were to assess the community structure included species abundance, biological indices, and the distribution pattern of macrozoobenthos species as a study of secondary productivity in mangrove non-rehabilitation and rehabilitation. The different characteristics of mangrove ecosystems cause the differences not only species richness but also the abundance of macrozoobenthos. The research started from May to September 2018. The determination of research stations was carried out by a purposive sampling method and there were 6 observation stations with 3 replications. Sampling was conducted in 1 x 1 m2 of square transects. The results of the study found 15 species of macrozoobenthos and the commonly number of species and species abundance found was higher in diurnal than nocturnal time. The highest abundance was Faunus ater (64.7 individuals/m2), and they were found mostly at station 4 (mangrove rehabilitation) which was 32.7 individuals/m2 (nocturnal) and 18.7 individuals/m2 (diurnal). On average, the diversity index (H') was moderate both in diurnal and nocturnal time. The evenness index value implied that the total number of individuals in the species was almost the same and there was probably no domination of certain species at field study. The species distribution pattern was random. In conclusion, the community structure of macrozoobenthos in the present study was in moderate condition. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This paper focuses on using zero-stable multistep formulae with evenly spaced off-grid points to numerically simulate differential equations originating from applied mathematics and engineering. The new multistep formulae used the differential system's collocation and power series interpolation as an approximated solution. In order to concurrently provide numerical solutions for the problems under consideration, the primary integrator and its auxiliary integrators are combined and applied. The integrators' theoretical analysis was examined and determined to be consistent with the current linear multistep method theorem. The techniques’s theoretical analysis were determined such as the order and error constants, consistency, zero-stability, convergency and the stability were also determined. The numerical outcomes of the techniques’s analysis contrasted with those of a few previously used techniques. The findings showed that the approach would provides greater accuracy than several other approaches already in use in the literature, making it a significant improvement over those approaches.

This study developed a novel generalized family of probability distributions known as the Odd F generalized family of distribution. The compound Odd F-Weibull distribution was introduced from the Odd F generalized family. This distribution is an alternative to various current distributions, such as the Beta-Weibull distribution, Generalized Modified Weibull, Log-Logistic-Weibull, Frechet-Weibull and Exponentiated Exponential-Weibull distributions. We obtained the distributions of quantile function, moments and information-generating function. Moreover, the parameters of its estimates were derived using the maximum likelihood approach. Furthermore, monthly Nigerian Naira to British Pound exchange rate data was analyzed to verify the viability of developed model. The findings demon-strate that the Odd F-Weibull model outperformed better than competitive distributions by having minimal corrected akaike information and Bayesian information criteria values.

Gelatin derived from porcine sources raises significant ethical and religious concerns worldwide, particularly due to its increasing use in food-based products without adequate monitoring and control. Once gelatin is incorporated into processed food items, determining its source animal becomes challenging, which consequently increases the risks of adulteration and mislabeling. In this study, we propose the utilization of a novel nanocomposite comprising multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), chitosan (CS), and gold nano-urchins (AuNUs) for constructing a label-free electrochemical immunosensor. The purpose of this immunosensor is to effectively detect Porcine skin gelatin (PSG) in food samples using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) with a 5 mM [K₃Fe(CN₆)] redox probe. Under optimized conditions, the fabricated biosensor demonstrates superior sensitivity to PSG, exhibiting a linear detection range of 50 pg/mL to 1000 a pg/mL and a limit of detection (LOD) of 23.079 pg/mL. Moreover, the constructed biosensor exhibits excellent reproducibility, acceptable selectivity, and interference resistance. Notably, it achieves outstanding recovery rates when applied to real food samples spiked with PSG, thus indicating its potential for practical implementation in food safety monitoring. © 2023 The Author(s)

First-order growth models are fundamental in economics, finance, and various scientific disciplines for modeling dynamic processes. Solving these models numerically is often challenging due to their complex nature. Hybrid block methods have emerged as promising tools for efficiently and accurately solving such models. This article provides a comprehensive development, analysis and implementation of hybrid block method applied to the numerical solution of first-order growth models. We discuss the theoretical foundations, algorithmic implementations, and practical applications of these methods, highlighting their advantages and limitations. Additionally, we present numerical examples and comparisons with other numerical techniques to assess the performance of hybrid block method. Through these insights, we aim to provide insights into the state-of-the-art techniques for solving first-order growth models numerically.
