In this paper, we are thus motivated to define and introduce the extended fuzzy-valued convex functions that can take the singleton fuzzy values -infinity similar to and +infinity similar to at some points. Such functions can be characterized using the notions of effective domain and epigraph. In this way, we study important concepts such as fuzzy indicator function and fuzzy infimal convolution for extended fuzzy-valued functions. Finally, we introduce the concept of directional generalized derivative for extended above functions and its properties. Eventually, we give a practical example that will illustrate well the directional g-derivative for the extended fuzzy-valued convex function.

We present the VECMA toolkit (VECMAtk), a flexible software environment for single and multiscale simulations that introduces directly applicable and reusable procedures for verification, validation (V&V), sensitivity analysis (SA) and uncertainty quantication (UQ). It enables users to verify key aspects of their applications, systematically compare and validate the simulation outputs against observational or benchmark data, and run simulations conveniently on any platform from the desktop to current multi-petascale computers. In this sequel to our paper on VECMAtk which we presented last year [1] we focus on a range of functional and performance improvements that we have introduced, cover newly introduced components, and applications examples from seven different domains such as conflict modelling and environmental sciences. We also present several implemented patterns for UQ/SA and V&V, and guide the reader through one example concerning COVID-19 modelling in detail. This article is part of the theme issue 'Reliability and reproducibility in computational science: implementing verification, validation and uncertainty quantification in silico'.

BACKGROUND: Management of cellular metabolism and blood glucose levels are significant in the treatment of diabetes mellitus and oxidative diseases. Consequently, steroid and peptide hormone-based drugs such as methylprednisolone and insulin have been the most effective and safe methods of treatment. OBJECTIVE: Our study investigated the digestive enzymes and oxidative species inhibitory potentials of seven derived biologically important steroids. METHODS: Syntheses of the steroidal inhibitors (SIs) were accomplished by functional group transformations. Characterisation of SIs was achieved by spectroscopic techniques;followed by in-vitro enzyme and oxidative suppression studies. RESULTS: NMR data revealed the presence of a steroid backbone, azomethine, carbonyl, and oxymethine peaks while the vibrational bands were further confirmed by the FTIR. The enzyme suppression activities of the SIs were influenced by the presence of histidine residue and free proton groups. However, the antioxidant activities were solely dependent on the free proton groups on the steroid backbone or the number of the histidine side chain. SIs [3, 4, and 6] exhibited a potent inhibitory effect on the enzyme activities compared to SIs [1, 2, 5, and 7], while a potent antioxidant activity was reported by SI [5]. CONCLUSIONS: Generally, SIs with hydroxyl and alpha-amino acid functionalities have a strong affinity for the enzyme active site than the substrate;hence, the hydrolysis of the alpha-1,4-glycosidic bonds of saccharide was hindered. In vivo administration of SIs [3, 4, and 6] should take into cognizance the suppression effect at doses <= 939.49 mu g/mL as well as the potential to induce abnormal bacterial fermentation of undigested carbohydrates in the colon at high concentration.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the third wave of the world's information industry after computers, the Internet, and mobile communication networks. In the era of the rapid development of IoT applications, there needs to be more focus on security. To solve security problems in IoT, we propose the Raspberry Gate, a small security gateway built using Raspberry Pi, and the Raspberry Guardian, a human community to update information, manage and control IoT devices. We discuss how the Raspberry Gate can be built and maintained. Furthermore, we also provide a comparison of Raspberry Gates made with different types of Raspberry Pi models.

Network security has been a major issue long time ago. Confidentiality, integrity and availability of data are the primary concerns of any network administrator. Recently, several attacks have resulted in huge losses of resources and of data availability. For example, in May 2017, medical entities in the United Kingdom have been paralyzed due to WannaCry ransomware world-wide cyber-attack. Thus, the main objective of this paper is to propose a more secured network architecture that will be designed for the case of the PACS - Picture Archiving and Communication System - that is used for storing and transmitting radiography images and reports through the hospital internal network. This paper presents an off-the-shelf solution based on the concept of one-way link data diode and open source softwares to assure safety and security in a cost effective manner. The novelty of this approach is in the design of a data diode that limits the physical connection to two network interfaces, and eliminates the need for a third network connection needed to provide a carrier signal for the transmitter. This system has shown some latency in data transfer but has increased the safety and the security of files transferred between the PACS network and the external network.

Dynamic Stark induced vortex momentum of hydrogen in circular fields

In this paper, we report our numerical simulation on the symmetry distortion and mechanism of the vortex-shaped momentum distribution of hydrogen atom by taking into account of the dynamic Stark effect. By deploying the strong field approximation (SFA) theory, we performed extensive simulation on the momentum pattern of hydrogen ionized by two time-delayed oppositely circularly polarized attosecond pulses. We deciphered that this distortion is originated from the temporal characteristics of the dynamic Stark phase which is nonlinear in time. The potential of social media to give insight into the dynamic evolution of public conversations, and into their reactive and constitutive role in political activities, has to date been underdeveloped. While topic modeling can give static insight into the structure of a conversation, and keyword volume tracking can show how engagement with a specific idea varies over time, there is need for a method of analysis able to understand how conversations about societal values evolve and react to events in the world by incorporating new ideas and relating them to existing themes. In this article, we propose a method for analyzing social media messages that formalizes the structure of public conversations and allows the sociologist to study the evolution of public discourse in a rigorous, replicable, and data-driven fashion. This approach may be useful to those studying the social construction of meaning, the origins of factionalism and internecine conflict, or boundary-setting and group-identification exercises and has potential implications.

As a sophisticated detection technology, LIDAR has been widely employed to probe low-altitude windshear. Due to the drawbacks of the traditional ramp algorithm, the alarm accuracy of the LIDAR has not been satisfactory. Aiming at settling this matter, a novel method is proposed on the basis of improved signal smoothing and second windshear detection, which essentially acts as a combination of ramp algorithm and segmentation approach, involving the human factor as well as signal fluctuations. Experiments on the real and artificial signals verify our approach.

In this paper, we introduce fuzzy nano (resp. delta, delta S, P and Z) locally closed set and fuzzy nano (resp. delta, delta S, P and Z) extremally disconnected spaces in fuzzy nano topological spaces. Also, we introduce some new spaces called fuzzy nano (resp. delta, delta S, P and Z) normal spaces and strongly fuzzy nano (resp. delta, delta S, P and Z) normal spaces with the help of fuzzy nano (resp. delta, delta S, P and Z)-open sets in fuzzy nano topological space. Numerical data is used to quantify the provided features. Furthermore, using fuzzy nano topological spaces, an algorithm for multiple attribute decision-making (MADM) with an application in medical diagnosis is devised.

Enhancement of Signal-to-noise Ratio Based on Multiplication Function for Phi-OTDR

We propose a novel methodology based on the multiplication function to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for vibration detection in a phi optical time-domain reflectometer system (phi-OTDR). The extreme-mean complementary empirical mode decomposition (ECEMD) is designed to break down the original signal into a set of inherent mode functions (IAFs). The multiplication function in terms of selected IMFs is used to determine a vibration's position. By this method, the SNR of a phi-OTDR system is enhanced by several orders of magnitude. Simulations and experiments applying the method to real data prove the validity of the proposed approach.
