Coordinated Energy Management of Prosumers in a Distribution System Considering Network Congestion

The integration of multiple flexible energy resources of prosumers into the distribution system has been proposed to improve system economics and reliability. However, prosumer resource flexibility depends on the distribution network. Without proper coordination, network congestion may be an issue. In addition, prosumer flexibilities are uncertain, which needs to be considered in the optimization problem. In this study, we introduce a robust virtual battery model to describe aggregated prosumer flexibilities. Then, assuming price-responsive motivations of prosumers, we employ iterative distribution locational marginal prices (iDLMP) to schedule prosumer resources optimally, with the purpose of preventing network congestion. Case studies are performed on a benchmark IEEE 33 bus system. The numerical results show that the proposed method can effectively alleviate congestion in the distribution grid, respecting prosumer economic interests and private information.

This paper presents a study related to human psychophysiological activity estimation based on a smartphone camera and sensors. In recent years, awareness of the human body, as well as human mental states, has become more and more popular. Yoga and meditation practices have moved from the east to Europe, the USA, Russia, and other countries, and there are a lot of people who are interested in them. However, recently, people have tried the practice but would prefer an objective assessment. We propose to apply the modern methods of computer vision, pattern recognition, competence management, and dynamic motivation to estimate the quality of the meditation process and provide the users with objective information about their practice. We propose an approach that covers the possibility of recognizing pictures of humans from a smartphone and utilizes wearable electronics to measure the user's heart rate and motions. We propose a model that allows building meditation estimation scores based on these parameters. Moreover, we propose a meditation expert network through which users can find the coach that is most appropriate for him/her. Finally, we propose the dynamic motivation model, which encourages people to perform the practice every day.

Heuristics to sift extraneous factors in Dixon resultants

Dixon resultant is an efficient and practical method for simultaneously eliminating many variables from a parametric polynomial system P with coefficients in a field. It has been widely used in a variety of scientific fields including automated theorem proving, biological systems, computer vision, robot kinematics, and so on. However, Dixon resultant method is subjected to extraneous factors likewise other resultant methods. These extraneous factors are undesirable and they create the troublesome problems in certain applications. In other words, we compute the Dixon resultant possibly multiplied with some extraneous factors. Therefore, there is a need to develop or construct techniques that can eliminate, or at least reduce the number of extraneous factors from the Dixon resultant. Given a set of factors in Dixon resultant, we present a heuristic method to sift extraneous factors. It relies on the specialized system P by using the specialization of the parameters in the polynomial systems. Meanwhile, it needs to obtain the regular chain from the specialized system P. From this approach, the parallelization of the method arises naturally. By using the specialization formula this principle can be generalized to other resultant methods. We report on some benchmark examples of our algo-rithm sifting extraneous factors in Dixon resultants . (c) 2022 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Numerical investigations of coupled aeroelastic performance of wind turbines by elastic actuator line model

With the economic considerations of wind power generation, blades of wind turbines are gradually becoming longer and more flexible. Therefore, it is necessary to research the influence of coupling aerodynamic and elastic structure of blades of wind turbines. Moreover, in a wind farm, the turbulent wind is generated by the irregular movement of the atmosphere, which makes the elastic deformations of blades and the complex wake interference effect between wind turbines. Therefore, the coupled aeroelastic performance of the blade is applied to analyze the interaction of the wake flow field of two tandem wind turbines based on the elastic actuator line model and the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. Firstly, the correctness of the coupled aeroelastic model is illustrated by comparing the aeroelastic response with OpenFAST software. Secondly, the influence of aeroelastic performances is researched on the structural deformations of blades. It is found that the aerodynamic power and thrust decrease after considering the deformations of blades. Furthermore, the interference effect on the thrust is more evident than aerodynamic power. Thirdly, the far wake region is affected apparently when the deformations of blades are taken into consideration, which causes the tip vortex interference phenomenon to delay. Finally, compared with the uniform inflow condition, the displacement and speed of the deformations of the blades are both increased under the turbulent inflow condition. Meanwhile, the disturbance of the wake vortex in the far wake region by the turbulent wind is stronger. Besides, by comparing the differences between the four vortex identification methods, it is significant that the omega R method can better capture the vortex system behind the rotor plane without manual intervention threshold selection. The vortex structure also represents the vorticity of the wake vortex evolution.

A smart city has a complex hierarchical communication system with various components. It must meet the requirements of fast communication, reliability, and security without compromising data. In the paper, we discuss methods and techniques for increasing the speed and reliability of the mobile ad hoc networks with a sufficient level of security. We consider combining the secret sharing schemes and residual number systems (RNS) as an efficient security mechanism for a smart city dynamic heterogeneous network. We analyze the concept of data transmission based on RNS that divides data into smaller parts and transmits them in parallel, protecting them from attacks on routes by adaptive multipath secured transmission. Proposed networks have the self-correcting properties that improve the reliability and fault tolerance of the entire system.

The paper refers to interdisciplinary research in the areas of hierarchical cluster analysis of big data and ordering of primary data to detect objects in a color or in a grayscale image. To perform this on a limited domain of multidimensional data, an NP-hard problem of calculation of close to optimal piecewise constant data approximations with the smallest possible standard deviations or total squared errors (approximation errors) is solved. The solution is achieved by revisiting, modernizing, and combining classical Ward's clustering, split/merge, and K-means methods. The concepts of objects, images, and their elements (superpixels) are formalized as structures that are distinguishable from each other. The results of structuring and ordering the image data are presented to the user in two ways, as tabulated approximations of the image showing the available object hierarchies. For not only theoretical reasoning, but also for practical implementation, reversible calculations with pixel sets are performed easily, as with individual pixels in terms of Sleator-Tarjan Dynamic trees and cyclic graphs forming an Algebraic Multi-Layer Network (AMN). The detailing of the latter significantly distinguishes this paper from our prior works. The establishment of the invariance of detected objects with respect to changing the context of the image and its transformation into grayscale is also new.

Smarter Open Government Data for Society 5.0: Are Your Open Data Smart Enough?

Nowadays, governments launch open government data (OGD) portals that provide data that can be accessed and used by everyone for their own needs. Although the potential economic value of open (government) data is assessed in millions and billions, not all open data are reused. Moreover, the open (government) data initiative as well as users' intent for open (government) data are changing continuously and today, in line with IoT and smart city trends, real-time data and sensor-generated data have higher interest for users. These "smarter" open (government) data are also considered to be one of the crucial drivers for the sustainable economy, and might have an impact on information and communication technology (ICT) innovation and become a creativity bridge in developing a new ecosystem in Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0. The paper inspects OGD portals of 60 countries in order to understand the correspondence of their content to the Society 5.0 expectations. The paper provides a report on how much countries provide these data, focusing on some open (government) data success facilitating factors for both the portal in general and data sets of interest in particular. The presence of "smarter" data, their level of accessibility, availability, currency and timeliness, as well as support for users, are analyzed. The list of most competitive countries by data category are provided. This makes it possible to understand which OGD portals react to users' needs, Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 request the opening and updating of data for their further potential reuse, which is essential in the digital data-driven world.

DCMP: database of cancer mutant protein domains

Protein domains are functional and structural units of proteins. They are responsible for a particular function that contributes to protein's overall role. Because of this essential role, the majority of the genetic variants occur in the domains. In this study, the somatic mutations across 21 cancer types were mapped to the individual protein domains. To map the mutations to the domains, we employed the whole human proteome to predict the domains in each protein sequence and recognized about 149 668 domains. A novel Perl-API program was developed to convert the protein domain positions into genomic positions, and users can freely access them through GitHub. We determined the distribution of protein domains across 23 chromosomes with the help of these genomic positions. Interestingly, chromosome 19 has more number of protein domains in comparison with other chromosomes. Then, we mapped the cancer mutations to all the protein domains. Around 46-65% of mutations were mapped to their corresponding protein domains, and significantly mutated domains for all the cancer types were determined using the local false discovery ratio (locfdr). The chromosome positions for all the protein domains can be verified using the cross-reference ensemble database.

The weld bead morphology has a great impact on the hardfacing processes, as it determines the quality of the deposited metal and the ease of slag removal, as well as the chemical composition of the deposited metal and its cooling conditions, which ultimately determines the microstructure and phase composition, mechanical properties, and performance characteristics (such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, etc.). In this article, the effect of exothermic addition of CuOAl system and the influence of graphiteon weld bead morphology, thermal cycle parameters, and mechanical properties were investigated using the mixture design (MD). The structural characteristics were analysed by optical microscope (OM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD). Microhardness values of the hardfaced samples were obtained using a Vickers hardness tester. It was determined that the most weld bead parameters were observed for the flux-cored wire electrode with an average exothermic addition content at the level of EA = 26.5-28.58 wt.% and a high carbon content (low values of CuO/C = 3.75). The highest mechanical properties (high hardness) were observed for single-pass weld beads with a high content of exothermic addition (EA >= 33 wt.%) and a high value of CuO/Al <= 4.5, which provided a high content of copper in the deposited metal.
