This paper presents compact regions to synthesize a Petri net from a partial language. We synthesize a Petri net using the theory of regions. Let there be a partial language, every region definition provides an inequality system and a solution of this system is called a region. Every region defines a valid place where a place is valid if it enables every word of the partial language. The new compact region definition relies on compact tokenflows. Compact tokenflows are a very efficient behavioral model for the partial language of Petri nets [3, 4]. Compact regions will lead to faster synthesis algorithms computing smaller Petri nets solving the synthesis problem.

Background: Anecdotal evidence suggests that software applications are usually implemented using a combination of (programming) languages. Aim: We want to provide empirical evidence on the phenomenon of multi-language programming. Methods: We use data mining of 1150 open source projects selected for diversity from a public repository to a) investigate the projects for number and type of languages found and the relative sizes of the languages;b) report on associations between the number of languages found and the size, age, number of contributors, and number of commits of a project using a (Quasi-)Poisson regression model, and c) discuss concrete associations between the generalpurpose languages and domain-specific languages found using frequent item set mining. Results: We found a) a mean number of 5 languages per project with a clearly dominant main general-purpose language and 5 often-used DSL types, b) a significant influence of the size, number of commits, and the main language on the number of languages as well as no significant influence of age and number of contributors, and c) three language ecosystems grouped around XML, Shell/Make, and HTML/CSS. Conclusions: Multilanguage programming seems to be common in open-source projects and is a factor which must be dealt with in tooling and when assessing development and maintenance of such software systems. Smart Home is indeed a broad concept which includes the techniques and systems applied to living spaces. While its main goal is to reduce the consumption of energy, it provides many benefits including living in comfort, security and increasing flexibility. Smart homes are achieved through networking, control and automation technologies. Since smart homes offer more comfort and security and provide novel innovative services, people with disabilities or the elderly can take the advantages and improve their life quality. However, for such novel services, an analytical infrastructure which can manage overall data flow provided by various sensors, understand anomalous behaviour, and make necessary decisions. In this study, for efficient data handling and visualisation, an integrated smart service approach based on the use of a smart vest is proposed. The smart vest plays a key role in the proposed system since it provides the main health parameters of the monitored person to the smart home service and enables tracking of the monitored person's location. The proposed system offers many benefits to both people with disabilities and the elderly and their families in terms of increased efficiency of health care service and comfort for the monitored person. It can also reduce the cost of health care services by reducing the number of periodical visits.
