With the continuous deepening of Artificial Neural Network(ANN)research,ANN model structure and function are improving towards diversification and ***,the model is more evaluated from the pros and cons of the problem-solving results and the lack of evaluation from the biomimetic aspect of imitating neural networks is not inclusive ***,a new ANN models evaluation strategy is proposed from the perspective of bionics in response to this problem in the ***,four classical neural network models are illustrated:Back Propagation(BP)network,Deep Belief Network(DBN),LeNet5 network,and olfactory bionic model(KIII model),and the neuron transmission mode and equation,network structure,and weight updating principle of the models are analyzed *** analysis results show that the KIII model comes closer to the actual biological nervous system compared with other models,and the LeNet5 network simulates the nervous system in ***,evaluation indexes of ANN are constructed from the perspective of bionics in this paper:small-world,synchronous,and chaotic ***,the network model is quantitatively analyzed by evaluation indexes from the perspective of *** experimental results show that the DBN network,LeNet5 network,and BP network have synchronous *** the DBN network and LeNet5 network have certain chaotic characteristics,but there is still a certain distance between the three classical neural networks and actual biological neural *** KIII model has certain small-world characteristics in structure,and its network also exhibits synchronization characteristics and chaotic *** with the DBN network,LeNet5 network,and the BP network,the KIII model is closer to the real biological neural network.

Middle ear effusion is a common symptom of otitis media, the reactive physical manifestation of otitis media (OM) in children's middle ear. However, diagnosing MEE for little children at home is troublesome due to their difficulty cooperating and the caregiver's lack of medical knowledge. To this end, we propose EarSonar, a novel acoustic-based MEE diagnostic system. The principle behind EarSonar is that the acoustic absorption effect exists in ear scenarios, and the volume of middle ear fluid can markedly affect the absorbed spectrum energy. By automatically eliminating the impact of potential interference factors and identifying the representative frequency range with the typical reaction of acoustic absorption, EarSonar captures fine-grained signal features on absorbed spectrum energy and models the intrinsic relationship between acoustic absorption and the volume of the filler fluid in the eardrum. On that basis, EarSonar extracts the features of the MEE signal segment and uses k-means clustering to classify middle ear effusion status. We conducted a test on 112 adolescents aged 4–6. We divided the degree of middle ear effusion into three grades. The final average detection accuracy rate exceeds 92%, which is 8 % higher than the previous method. We have implemented a proof-of-concept prototype of EarSonar by building upon earphones embedded with a microphone and speaker. Experimental results demonstrate a feasible and effective way to turn earphones into potential home-use MEE screening tools.

Data poisoning attacks, where adversaries manipulate training data to degrade model performance, are an emerging threat as machine learning becomes widely deployed in sensitive applications. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of data poisoning including attack techniques, adversary incentives, impacts on security and reliability, detection methods, defenses, and key research gaps. We examine label flipping, instance injection, backdoors, and other attack categories that enable malicious outcomes ranging from IP theft to accidents in autonomous systems. Promising detection approaches include statistical tests, robust learning, and forensics. However, significant challenges remain in translating academic defenses like adversarial training and sanitization into practical tools ready for operational use. With safety and trustworthiness at stake, more research on benchmarking evaluations, adaptive attacks, fundamental tradeoffs, and real-world deployment of defenses is urgently needed. Understanding vulnerabilities and developing resilient machine learning pipelines will only grow in importance as data integrity is fundamental to developing safe artificial intelligence. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2023.

Joint safety and security analysis of cyber-physical systems is a necessary step to correctly capture inter-dependencies between these properties. Attack-Fault Trees represent a combination of dynamic Fault Trees and Attack Trees and can be used to model and model-check a holistic view on both safety and security. Manually creating a complete AFT for the whole system is, however, a daunting task. It needs to span multiple abstraction layers, e.g., abstract application architecture and data flow as well as system and library dependencies that are affected by various vulnerabilities. We present an AFT generation tool-chain that facilitates this task using partial Fault and Attack Trees that are either manually created or mined from vulnerability databases. We semi-automatically create two system models that provide the necessary information to automatically combine these partial Fault and Attack Trees into complete AFTs using graph transformation rules. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Recurrent neural networks are capable of learning the dynamics of an unknown nonlinear system purely from input-output measurements. However, the resulting models do not provide any stability guarantees on the input-output mapping. In this work, we represent a recurrent neural network as a linear time-invariant system with nonlinear disturbances. By introducing constraints on the parameters, we can guarantee finite gain stability and incremental finite gain stability. We apply this identification method to learn the motion of a four-degrees-of-freedom ship that is moving in open water and compare it against other purely learning-based approaches with unconstrained parameters. Our analysis shows that the constrained recurrent neural network has a lower prediction accuracy on the test set, but it achieves comparable results on an out-of-distribution set and respects stability conditions. © 2022, CC BY.

As the Industry 4.0 shifts towards the adoption of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) in warehouses, decentralized decision-making has become a key design principle. Multi-robot task allocation (MRTA) is a problem that involves assigning tasks to AMRs while optimizing the performance of the system. However, modeling decentralized MRTA applications for optimization without a central instance poses significant challenges due to the autonomy and flexibility of AMRs. In this paper, we propose a simulative approach to address the fleet sizing problem combined with decentralized MRTA applications for AMRs. Based on simulation data, models have been developed that predict key performance indicators (KPIs) for different warehouse layouts and requirements, using techniques from machine learning and mathematical optimization. The model represents KPIs such as constraint satisfaction and utilization rates in a decentralized MRTA scenario including a self-organizing material flow application. Based on this model, we introduce a fleet size selection mechanism. This research contributes to the field of Industry 4.0 by providing a generalizable simulative approach that is adaptable to flexible warehouse environments, allowing for the application of any MRTA algorithm. Moreover, this approach allows the integration of different KPIs, facilitating the adaptation of requirements.

In a global economy with many competitive participants, licensing and tracking of 3D printed parts is desirable if not mandatory for many use-cases. We investigate a blockchain-based approach, as blockchains provide many attractive features, like decentralized architecture and high security assurances. An often neglected aspect of the product life-cycle management is the confidentiality of transactions to hide valuable business information from competitors. To solve the combined problem of trust and confidentiality, we present a confidential licensing and tracking system which works on any publicly verifiable, token-based blockchain that supports tokens of different types representing licenses or attributes of parts. Together with the secure integration of a unique eID in each part, our system provides an efficient, immutable and authenticated transaction log scalable to thousands of transactions per second. With our confidential Token-Based License Management system (cTLM), large industries such as automotive or aviation can license and trace all parts confidentially. © 2021 ACM.

We consider single-phase flow with solute transport where ions in the fluid can precipitate and form a mineral, and where the mineral can dissolve and release solute into the fluid. Such a setting includes an evolving interface between fluid and mineral. We approximate the evolving interface with a diffuse interface, which is modeled with an Allen-Cahn equation. We also include effects from temperature such that the reaction rate can depend on temperature, and allow heat conduction through fluid and mineral. As Allen-Cahn is generally not conservative due to curvature-driven motion, we include a reformulation that is conservative. This reformulation includes a non-local term which makes the use of standard Newton iterations for solving the resulting non-linear system of equations very slow. We instead apply L-scheme iterations, which can be proven to converge for any starting guess, although giving only linear convergence. The three coupled equations for diffuse interface, solute transport and heat transport are solved via an iterative coupling scheme. This allows the three equations to be solved more efficiently compared to a monolithic scheme, and only few iterations are needed for high accuracy.
