In the rapidly evolving landscape of autonomous driving, the capability to accurately predict future events and assess their implications is paramount for both safety and efficiency, critically aiding the decision-making process. World models have emerged as a transformative approach, enabling autonomous driving systems to synthesize and interpret vast amounts of sensor data, thereby predicting potential future scenarios and compensating for information gaps. This paper provides an initial review of the current state and prospective advancements of world models in autonomous driving, spanning their theoretical underpinnings, practical applications, and ongoing research efforts aimed at overcoming existing limitations. Highlighting the significant role of world models in advancing autonomous driving technologies, this survey aspires to serve as a foundational reference for the research community, facilitating swift access to and comprehension of this burgeoning field, and inspiring continued innovation and exploration. Intelligent construction refers to a new generation of artificial intelligence and engineering construction that has been naturally integrated into a new construction process. It can be effectively incorporated with prefabricated structures. To scientifically improve the application possibilities of intelligent construction, it is necessary to identify and analyze the key factors influencing its application to prefabricated buildings. This study presents the overall functional architecture of an intelligent construction system for prefabricated buildings and identifies 19 parameters of four aspects from the prefabricated buildings life cycle. To identify the key factors and causal relationships, Decision-Making trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) is employed, in conjunction with Interpretive Structure Modeling (ISM), to construct a multilevel progressive structure model that also clarifies the action pathways of these factors. The feasibility of the proposed methodology has been demonstrated through case analysis. The results show that policies and regulations, technical standard systems, talent quality, and technology and innovation investment are the deep-seated influencing factors in the application of intelligent construction of prefabricated buildings, and the development suggestions are proposed accordingly. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Uniaxial compression on 3D-printed load-bearing walls with openings

Walls with openings, such as doors or windows, are a common feature in building construction. These openings, regardless of their size, are strategically positioned on each floor to fulfill ventilation or other functional needs. This study primarily aimed to investigate the structural performance of 3D-printed walls with door openings under uniaxial loads. The research focused on three types of walls with an opening: unreinforced, reversed U-bar-reinforced, and reversed U-bar with rebar-reinforced walls. All walls were measured 2000 mm in width, 1310 mm in height, and 120 mm in thickness, with an opening size of 1200 mm in width and 1000 mm in height. The study examined the load-vertical deflection behavior and cracking behavior of the tested walls. It was found that reinforcing the walls improved their stiffness and cracking behavior compared to the unreinforced wall. Moreover, it was observed that vertical cracks, along with small stepped diagonal cracks induced by horizontal stress, were prevalent in the tested walls. Both the reversed U-bar with rebar-reinforced and unreinforced 3D-printed walls with an opening exhibited brittle failure, characterized by significant spalling of the 3D-printed mortar layer surfaces on the column part near the opening edge corner. For the wall with only the reversed U-bar-reinforced, the test was stopped due to safety concerns before failure occurred. The reversed U-bar with the rebar-reinforced wall exhibited a lower ultimate load at failure than the unreinforced wall. This reduction in ultimate load is attributed to higher stress concentrations around the grouted regions within the reinforced wall which causes the earlier failures. Additionally, the failure of the reversed U-bar with the rebar-reinforced wall was observed at the location where the grouted core was incompletely filled. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Lightweight Deployment of Bridge Monitoring System Based on Edge Algorithm

Urban road congestion seriously hinders people's daily work and social development, making bridge infrastructure become the preferred way to solve the problem of jammed traffic. Based on the real-time automatic detection of bridge traffic flow information by monitoring facilities, dynamic traffic evacuation can alleviate the pressure of bridge commuting and reduce the possibility of traffic accidents. In order to meet the deployment requirements, the embedded system must carry out a lightweight design of the deep learning model to improve the calculation accuracy and logical reasoning ability without reducing the processing quality and performance of the model. In this paper, we design a lightweight neural network model structure to integrate the relevant information of different levels of network connections. Taking into account the shortcomings of traditional data processing, using the characteristics of data fragmentation in the edge computing scene, and according to the multi-scale external characteristics, we design the IoT model of the bridge monitoring system to improve the performance of the neural network model. We use cutting priority in the design to solve the problem of parameter feature dimension and reduce the large amount of calculation. Through experimental analysis, it is verified that the dynamic convolutional network can replace the conventional convolutional network image capture and processing capabilities. Using the current mainstream algorithm for comparative testing, it is proved that the performance of the proposed model algorithm is improved by 17. 2% and 19. 6%, respectively. The logic operation efficiency of the neural network model can be achieved in the initial stage of the lightweight deployment. Besides, the data integrity and the dynamic sparsity rate are higher than those of the current mainstream model algorithms. Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) possess eco-friendly properties, making them a sustainable choice for enhancing cement-based composites. Recent studies have demonstrated that the incorporation of CNC can enhance the late-age mechanical properties of hardened cement-based composites and refine the microstructure of cement-based composites. Additionally, CNC has been found to enhance the rheological properties of cement-based composites, further contributing to their performance. Despite these advancements, there are still undiscovered advantages to utilizing cellulose nanocrystals in cement-based composites, particularly in terms of physical properties and durability. The study aims to explore how CNC affects the physical properties and durability of cement-based composites. Investigation of precursor criterion of coal dynamic instability from energy perspective

This study investigates the instability characteristics of dynamic disasters resulting from disruption caused by extracting resources underground. Utilizing the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) system, the dynamic response mechanism of coal energy evolution is examined, and the energy instability criterion is established. The validity of the instability criterion is explored from the standpoint of damage progression. The results demonstrate that the energy conversion mechanism undergoes a fundamental alternation under impact disturbance. Moreover, the energy release rate as well as the energy dissipation rate undergo comparable changes across distinct levels of impact disturbance. The distinction between the energy release rate and the energy dissipation rate (DRD) increases as coal mass deformation grows. Prior to coal facing instability and failure, the DRD experienced an inflection point followed by a sharp decrease. In conjunction with the discussion on the damage evolution, the physical and mechanical significance of DRD remains clear, which can essentially describe the whole impact loading process. The phenomenon that the inflection point appears and DRD subsequently suddenly decreases can be employed as the energy criterion prior to the failure of instability. Furthermore, this paper provides significant reference for the prediction of dynamic instability of coal under dynamic disturbance.

VMD (Variational mode decomposition) is a commonly used method for processing rolling bearing fault signals. VMD enables efficient separation of intrinsic modal components and it can match the best center frequency and the appropriate bandwidth range for each mode. It should be noted that the number of modalities and penalty parameters need to be set before execution. We propose an optimization algorithm for VMD based on the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) and then select an iterative formula for the iterative update. The formula is chosen in terms of the magnitude of the convergence factor to output the best VMD parameters. The effectiveness of this method is proved through the processing of the rolling bearing inner ring fault signal. © 2023 SPIE. All rights reserved.

The destruction of concrete building materials in severely cold regions of the north is more severely affected by freeze-thaw cycles,and the relationship between the mechanical properties and pore structure of concrete with fine aggregate from municipal solid waste(MSW)incineration bottom ash after freeze-thaw cycles is analyzed under the degree of freeze-thaw hazard *** this paper,the gray correlation method is used to calculate the correlation between the relative dynamic elastic modulus,compressive strength,and microscopic porosity parameters to speculate on the most important factors affecting their *** GM(1,1)model was established based on the compressive strength of the waste incineration ash aggregate concrete,the relative error between the simulated and actual values in the model was less than 5%,and the accuracy of the model was level 1,indicating that the GM(1,1)model can well reflect the change in the compressive strength of the MSW incineration bottom ash aggregate concrete during freeze-thaw *** the gray correlation method,the correlation between the relative dynamic elastic modulus,compressive strength,air content,specific surface area,pore spacing coefficient,and pore average chord length was calculated,and the pore spacing coefficient and pore average chord length were determined to be highly correlated with each *** determination can help analyze and infer the deterioration mechanism of concrete subject to freeze-thaw *** results can provide a theoretical basis for guiding the engineering practice of concrete with fine aggregates of household bottom ash in the northern cold region.

Evaluation of cross wall performance on restraining the wall displacement and resisting the basal heave in deep excavations

The cross wall is commonly implemented to restrain the excessive wall displacement induced by deep excavation, which has been verified through comprehensive studies and case histories. However, no study has been conducted on the excavation stability with the cross wall, which is the main concern in the deep excavation problem. In this study, a series of three-dimensional finite element methods were carried out to evaluate the performance of cross walls in resisting the basal heave in deep excavations. The results concluded that the frictional resistance acting on the contact surface area between the cross wall and the surrounding soil plays an important role in the basal heave resistance. Thus, enlarging the dimension of the cross wall would enhance the frictional resistance area and increase the factor of safety. In addition, a new simplified method is proposed to estimate the factor of safety against basal heave for the case with and without the cross wall and further validated by the finite element results. Finally, a new design chart was introduced to predict the maximum wall displacement for deep excavations with the cross wall based on the proposed system stiffness ratio and factor of safety against basal heave, which was verified through the case histories. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

In order to study the seismic performance of post-tensioned precast prestressed slab-beam-column composite joint under low cycle loads, ABAQUS was used to simulate the quasi-static behavior of the composite joint. On the premise of verifying the accuracy of the FEM for post-tensioned precast prestressed concrete joints, a comparative analysis was conducted on the hysteresis performance, bearing capacity, energy consumption performance, and deformation capacity differences between concrete joint and composite joints. The seismic performance of the post-tensioned prestressed composite joint has been obtained, providing assistance for the design of the joint. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
