Currently, recycled aggregate concrete is a widely used building material. Due to negative influences on concrete's mechanical properties, it is mostly used in low-valued applications. Nevertheless, high quality recycled concrete aggregates derived from a good quality original concrete can be used in high-valued applications, such as precast concrete. These high quality aggregates can be obtained by optimizing the crushing process. To ensure recycled aggregate concrete quality, the influence of different parameters on its mechanical and durability properties must be established. The quality of recycled concrete in high-valued applications can easily be measured via non-destructive tests. In this research project, the properties of recycled aggregate concrete are tested in a non-destructive way in order to establish a correlation between the different properties. Results of several laboratory tests show a good relation between the static elastic modulus and the dynamic elastic modulus, calculated by measuring the ultrasonic pulse waves and resonance frequency. Nevertheless, a study to transfer this knowledge into practice will demonstrate the applicability of the results.
The primary impediment to the use of FRP's at the highest levels of efficacy to strengthen reinforced concrete (RC) members is the occurrence of premature debonding. Anchorage of externally bonded FRP materials is...

The thermo-mechanical coupled behavior of pile-soil interface is very important for the mechanical performance of energy pile. It is studied in this paper by the thermo-mechanical coupled direct shear tests with a temperature controllable concrete specimen in the top shear box and a Kaolin clay specimen in the bottom shear box. The results show that the strength of pile-clay interface significantly depends on the temperature, the temperature cycle number and the over-consolidation ratios of clay. With the heating-cooling cycles, the interface strength can increase and decrease monotonically or non-monotonically depending on the stress state and history of clay, which is generally a thermo-elasto-plastic process. It is shown that the thermo-mechanical coupled pile-clay interface behavior is the net effect of the pore water transportation and the rearrangement of clay particles near the interface as well as the thermal consolidation/expansion of clay.

Apartment buildings and residential buildings in Taiwan have become more and more community oriented. Precise control of residential buildings operational performance is increasingly important. This study uses network data envelopment analysis (Network DEA) to develop a three-phase based residential building operational performance assessment model and use it to assess the operational efficiency of 26 decision making units (DMUs) to obtain the performance index of dimensions. It is found that the model is equipped with three dimensions (with its weight) named staff quality (0.26), customer satisfaction (0.35) and operation performance (0.39) respectively. Most of the total DMU efficiency values fell between 0.75 and 0.90, with only one DMU is equipped with 1. DMU6 (1.0000) is ranked first, with performance values for each dimension of 1. Aside from the staff quality dimension (0.8134), the other two dimensions for DMU10 are both below 0.80, indicating this DMU is most in need of improvement. Sensitivity analysis can show the impact of inputs and outputs on DMU performance.

The present invention comprises a bearing layer formed on the upper surface of the ground, and a surface layer formed on the upper surface of the bearing layer and made from a water permeable material, wherein the bearing layer comprises: a filling frame in which a plurality of plates are assembled to be orthogonal to each other so as to form a plurality of filling spaces;reinforcing steel wires horizontally passing through the plates of the filling frame;reinforcing blocks formed in some filling spaces among the plurality of filling spaces;and filling aggregates filled in the filling spaces, in which the reinforcing blocks are not provided, among the filling spaces. Mortar or concrete is poured into the filling spaces and cured therein such that the reinforcing blocks are formed. The reinforcing blocks are formed by skipping the alternate filling spaces, and the reinforcing blocks formed in the filling spaces of odd and even rows are arranged to be alternated with each other. According to the present invention, the load bearing property of the bearing layer is reinforced and water permeability is uniformly maintained such that problems such as surface cracking and ground subsidence are reduced.
