The development of the construction industry promotes the development of BIM technology, which in turn promotes the development of the construction industry. This paper first analyzes the status quo of BIM technology, construction organization design and engineering cost, and then analyzes the construction organization design and engineering cost application based on BIM technology. This paper takes a residential building as an example for detail, uses BIM technology to carry out modeling and measurement, construction schedule plan, site layout and project cost, and conducts the rationality analysis of the quantity and the rationality of the cost. The results show that the development of BIM technology greatly facilitates the construction organization design and engineering cost of construction projects. © 2023 Institute of Physics Publishing. An Integrated Way to Monitor the Health Condition of Building Facades by Analyzing Thermal Infrared Images

Thermography is widely used for defect detection through analysing thermography. Thermography is used to record the surface temperatures with a thermal infrared camera. Visual interpretation can be employed to identify defects according to the differences in surface temperatures. Recently, image-processing techniques have provided a quantitative way to detect defects rather than visual interpretation. Robust principal component analysis (RPCA) is employed to analyze a series of thermal infrared images [1]. Traditionally, principal component analysis (PCA) is used to investigate a series of thermal infrared images by projecting the thermal data onto a low-dimension space such that a template image inherits the significant characteristics of the given thermal data. However, PCA introduces noise effects such that the template generated with PCA contains the noise effects. RPCA offers a similar way to project the given data onto a low-dimension space and a feature space and provides a robust way to depress the noise effects. With the introduction of RPCA, a template image can be selected from the lowdimension space, and image segmentation is employed to segment the template. Those segmented regions illustrated on the segmented template indicate the surface temperature differences, and those differences can be used as clues to identify the defects. With RPCA, a series of thermal infrared images can be analyzed by projecting the data onto a low-dimension space and a feature space. The Moso bamboo,a renewable green building material used in various new green buildings,have received exten-sive attention with the promotion of the concept of green *** explore the mechanical properties of Moso bamboo connections with external clamp steel plates,the 16 specimens were designed by changing the bolt diameters and the end distances of the bolt *** static tension tests were conducted to investigate bearing capacities and failure modes of different connection *** on test results,three failure modes of these connections were obtained,including the shear failure of bolt shank,bearing failure of bolt hole and punch-ing shear failure of the Moso *** influence of bolt diameters and end distances of bolt holes on bearing capacities of the connections was quantitatively *** on a simplified mechanical model,the analytical models were deduced for the bolt shear failure and the bearing failure of bolt *** results showed that the predictive values are in substantial agreement with the experimental ***,the design and manufacturing suggestions are recommended for this Moso bamboo connections.

The mechanical properties of the steel-concrete joint determine the mechanical properties of the whole bridge. The mechanical properties of the steel-concrete joint of Jianhua railway rigid-frame bridge are analyzed by using nonlinear finite element method. The results show that the overall stiffness transition of the joint is smooth, the maximum stress of concrete section and steel box girder section are lower than the design value of the strength, which indicates that the structural stiffness and strength of the steel-concrete joint section meets the requirements. The error range of the finite element analysis results and the measured data is within 6 %, which shows that the finite element method can simulate the actual stress state of the bridge and it could save a lot of time and energy compared to the actual test. © 2022 JVE International. According to relevant data, when a fire occurs in a large public building, human life and property will be greatly threatened. In order to solve the problem of personnel evacuation under fire conditions, this paper starts with ant colony algorithm and introduces heuristic function, node selection strategy, and pheromone update to improve ant colony algorithm, so as to provide a scientific basis for personnel evacuation after fire. Based on BIM technology, smoke simulation technology, and evacuation simulation technology, this paper studies the evacuation of people in fire scenarios. Simulation of fire smoke and personnel evacuation is carried out on the BIM model of the shopping mall. Using Pyrosim software to simulate the spread of smoke in the shopping mall after the fire, the smoke temperature, fire visibility and CO concentration of each node are obtained. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

With the rapid development of science and technology, the construction industry is showing the trend of informatization. BIM has emerged to bring vitality into the construction industry. This paper introduces the application of BIM software in various phases and the mainstream BIM software at home and abroad, and conducts a comparative study on each BIM software from the design phase, construction phase and operation and maintenance phase, analyses the advantages and disadvantages of each software, and helps relevant practitioners to quickly choose the appropriate software according to their needs. © 2023 Institute of Physics Publishing. Protecting seismic isolated equipment or buildings in a near-fault area is challenging because of the strong long-period velocity components of near-fault ground motions. These long-period pulses can cause excessive base displacement of conventional seismic isolation systems. In this study, an electromagnetic seismic isolation system (EMSIS) with different levels of inertance was experimentally investigated to reduce the base displacement of isolation systems during near-fault earthquakes. The EMSIS consists of a sliding platform and rotary electromagnetic (EM) dampers, which can provide an EM damping force. With an additional flywheel installed on each EM damper, its moment of inertia can offer a considerable inertance for the EMSIS. The inertance generated by the flywheel can be hundreds of times larger than its mass. Accordingly, the isolation frequency can be adjusted using different-sized flywheels. A prototype EMSIS with inerters was designed and manufactured. A theoretical model was also developed to predict its dynamic behavior. Through shaking table tests, this study provided experimental verification of the effectiveness of inertance on isolation systems subjected to near-fault ground motions. The experimental results indicate that an increase in inertance reduces the isolation displacement, but it may increase the isolation acceleration during a typical far-field ground motion. In addition, the accuracy of the theoretical model was verified using the shaking table test. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the progress of society and the development of science and technology, the development of transportation is particularly important. Therefore, the road-rail bridge has rapidly developed. We searched the relevant literature from 2002 to 2022 in the Web of Science database in order to objectively understand the research status and development trend of road-rail bridges. We use bibliometric analysis methods to analyze the year of publication, number of publications, distribution of academic journals, research institutions, application fields, analysis theories, test methods and influencing factors in the field of road-rail bridges. Strength and Durability Evaluation of Bacteria-Based Self-Healing Concrete

Concrete is susceptible to cracking under tension, which can lead to structural deterioration due to the penetration of acidic solutions and chemicals. Self-healing concrete presents an innovative solution by autonomously repairing surface cracks, reducing the need for costly and time-consuming maintenance. This study investigates the potential of Bacillus cereus in enhancing the self-healing and durability properties of C25-grade concrete. B. Cereus bacteria (10⁸ cells/ml) were utilized, and mechanical tests were conducted on both bacterial and control concrete specimens. Six pre-cracked samples from each group were monitored using a 3D optical microscope, and over 60 specimens were tested after 56 days of curing. Results showed that after 28 days, bacterial concrete exhibited increased compressive strength (16.67%), and flexural strength (8.59%) compared to control concrete. After 56 days, acid and salt resistance improved by 5.51% and 7.28%, respectively. Bacterial concrete also demonstrated 28.99% lower water absorption. The addition of bacteria resulted in a regain of compressive strength (17.88%, 5.29%, and 3.63% at 50%, 80%, and 100% loading, respectively) after 28 days. Analysis with a 3D microscope revealed increased white crystal precipitates, indicating effective crack filling facilitated by B. Cereus bacteria and calcite precipitation. These findings demonstrate that B. Cereus-based self-healing concrete enhances mechanical strength and durability, offering a sustainable and cost-effective alternative for resilient infrastructure. This novel technology holds significant potential for extending the lifespan of concrete structures and reducing maintenance demands. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Shiraz University 2025.

After the COVID-19 outbreak, a new concept of building maintenance (BM) systems is needed because current approaches highly rely on physical contact between workers, engineers, and managers. It imposes health and safety risks as increasing concerns about infections and spreads. This adds burdens to take unavoidable close contact and health risks to building owners, occupants, workforce, and society at large. In this respect, a new BM system was developed that enables reliable virtual communication and reduces BM response times by filling gaps between users and building managers. The proposed system is based on a concept of a cyber-physical system (CPS) using augmented reality (AR) and building information modeling (BIM) to promote non-contact building management. In this system, AR plays an important role in inspecting and visualizing defects in the real world, and the detected defect information is stored and managed by cloud-based BIM in cyberspace. This paper focuses on data visualization and management in the CPS-based non-contact building management system. A cloud-based database and mobile application are developed for data management purposes. In addition, this paper presents BIM data exchange and visualization in AR applications. Target image-based localization and tracking in BIM are also tested. The test results showed that the model alignment and localization accuracy are reliable for building maintenance works. Using the new BM mechanism, we expect that the related workers, building owners, and occupants will experience a reliable building maintenance process based on CPS-based information exchange from both users and facility managers while maintaining social distance. © 2022 International Association on Automation and Robotics in construction.
