In this experiment, we study the scale free network property of an organizational communication network. We used social network analysis methods during organizational crisis period that captures the dynamics of communication networks. We did not find any significant fluctuation between the actor prominence in daily and aggregated networks. We found that email communication network displays a high degree of scale free behavior described by power law.

projectmanagement literature frequently refers to the role of the project executive sponsor, but does not address in any great depth the factors contributing to effective project sponsorship, a role increasingly associated with project success. Most research about key project roles addresses either structural or behavioral factors with a definite emphasis on the former. This research attempts to bridge an emerging structural-behavioral schism using an approach based on Grounded Theory, involving in-depth interviews with senior project managers and project directors, all of whom were involved with the management of internal infrastructure projects. project managers’ assessments of the effectiveness of the role of the executive sponsor are analyzed. The projects under scrutiny have been described by business owners as complex and of medium-to-high risk to the organizations concerned. Analysis of 28 interviews identifies key attributes of successful project sponsorship. Significantly, project managers appear to be exercising a complex range of behavior patterns to compensate for inadequate sponsor support in some projects. Important consequences arise for the organizations concerned if, in the process, inadequate sponsor performance is masked and opportunities for problem-focused conversations between project managers and sponsors are reduced or eliminated.

The purpose of this technical report was to observe the relationship of internal and external stakeholders during the execution of a digital transformation project in a leading vehicle rental company in Brazil. The report was prepared using the qualitative research approach, using consultation of the project's primary data, document analysis and participant observation. The results signal the importance of the correct mapping of stakeholders and how it affects the bonds of trust between the various parties involved, a factor capable of influencing the trajectory of the project. This study was limited to having analyzed only one project. As future studies, the impact of stakeholder influence on digital transformation programs and portfolios and how the time factor is affected in this organizational arrangement could be studied.

The constant evolution and dependence of technologies on corporate business activities and processes brought an increase in electronic transactions in company processes and, consequently, a need for transformation in the project portfolio of the Internal Audit area. Based on these needs, technological tools such as Data Analytics appear as technical support options for audit project managers to extract,model, improve and optimize the analysis and scope of the data. The purpose of this report was to present how the implementation of technological Data Analytics tools contribute positively to increasing the efficiency of the internal audit project portfolios. The results showed that the implementation of this type of technology during internal audit projects and processes could reduce the intensity of the work, expand its reach in the results and increase the efficiency of production in time and cover the cycles of audited processes. The use of Data Analytics has positive advantages for the AI project portfolio and for the future of the area, such as better project planning, greater resource management, more comprehensive scope definition, agility in the execution of audit work, traceability and record of analyzes performed and performance increase.

Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing technology is being implemented in the U.S. Navy's Arleigh Burke (DDG-51) Class Aegis Destroyer program. Under the Navy's direction, the DDG-51 class construction yards are aggressively pursuing the transition to CAD-based design, construction and life cycle support. Through the CAD initiative, acquisition costs can be reduced without reduction of ships' capability. Building a three dimensional (3D) computer generated model of the ship prior to construction will facilitate the identification and resolution of interference and interface problems that would otherwise remain undetected until actual ship construction. The 3D database contains geometry and design data to support system design and concurrent engineering and is exchanged electronically between the construction yards. Detailed design drawings, fabrication sketches, and numerical control (NC) data are extracted directly from the database to support construction. At the completion of ship construction, as-built models will be provided to the planning yard for life cycle support.

Expert Systems are at work in a variety of technical and managerial applications. Using custom designed knowledge bases and decision rules, expert systems prompt the user to explain a problem and then offer solutions or advice on how to proceed to solve the problem. A properly designed expert system maximizes the virtues of human experts by emphasizing performance and reliability, by being easy to use, by being able to explain its advice and entire line of reasoning and by being capable of interfacing with other computer systems and databases. This paper surveys the development of expert systems and offers a discussion of some aspects of expert system design and introduction. The paper concludes with a review of Navy logistics expert systems now in design.

We optimize replacement time for a system that fails according to an increasing failure-rate distribution. The problem has a finite horizon, and our goal is to minimize expected total maintenance cost. The associated objective function is piece-wise convex but discontinuous, and we develop an algorithm to optimize replacement time. We illustrate our approach on a real problem from the South Texas project Nuclear Operating Company in Bay City, Texas, USA.
