Exploring the impact of COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine dissemination on Airbnb's popularity and sentiment on Twitter

This study aims to quantify the sentiment of those discussing Airbnb on Twitter and visualise how this sentiment differed in three main periods: prior to the pandemic (pre-COVID-19), and during the pandemic before vaccines were disseminated (pre-vaccine), and during the pandemic, after vaccines were disseminated (post-vaccine). 344,705 tweets relating to Airbnb are collected. In this study, popularity, and usage analytics, sentiment analytics, voice analytics, and topic mining analytics were utilised. Through exploring the data in these three periods, it is possible to distinguish inverse correlations between the number of COVID-19 cases/deaths as compared to the popularity and positive sentiment of Airbnb-related tweets. Other findings include the topics most mentioned along with Airbnb on Twitter and an illustration of how the ‘voice’ of COVID-19 manifests in Airbnb tweets. The unique contribution of this study is in exploring Twitter sentiment towards Airbnb throughout the pandemic, as well as after the vaccine dissemination. Scaling ecosystem-wide flourishing, organizational impact, and the total value generated across an organization’s ecosystem of stakeholders is a manifestation of love in action. Many organizations are figuring out how. With a large, longitudinal dataset this research is uncovering the agreements enabling that scaling. This research note highlights the research design and early findings. The research design is based on interviews, surveys, and systemic strategy. Strategic systems assessment, stakeholder interviews, workshops with leadership, calibration with functional leaders were used to determine what to measure. Wave 1 of data collection was completed in 2021. Wave 2 is in progress, with following waves every 6 months. With survey responses from 70,700 clients and 9,554 collaborators in Wave 1, the mean level of flourishing and organizational impact is high, relative to the levels found in over 164,000 groups surveyed in 126 countries. While the mean level is high, there is a distribution from high to low across the hundreds of service offices of the business, highlighting significant differences in how the offices work, such as putting the person at the center in everything they do, and the quality of the relationships within the company and with their clients. The quantities of construction and demolition waste (CDW) have significantly augmented due to rapid urbanization in Egyptian cities. This waste stream threatens public health and the environment. Quantifying waste is considered aCDW in Kafr El Sheikh Governorate, Egypt. The results show that the quantity of CDW in the study areas is estimated to be 19,174.071 cubic meters. The proposed methodology could be further extended in other Egyptian governorates facing the same challenges of data unavailability. This research provides the government bodies, policymakers, investors, demolition engineers, and researchers with reliable estimates of CDW quantities. © 2021 IEEE.

Slurry tailings storage in large impoundments has been largely used worldwide for a long time, as their cost is very competitive. However, recent disasters have brought to light the need to better comprehend the mechanics of the materials stored and to search for disposal alternatives to overcome the drawbacks. One possibility is the filtered tailings disposal (dry stacking) which requires a better understanding of the material's response in a dewatered (through filtration) and compacted condition. This paper compares two tailings from the same beneficiation (treatment) plant with different gradings and mineralogy, related to the beneficial processes they undergo. A series of triaxial tests comprising isotropic compression without shearing specimens, as well as isotropic compression followed by drained (CID) and undrained (CIU) shearing, and K-compression followed by undrained (CKU) shearing specimens were conducted over a range of confining pressures and initial compaction degrees. The experimental program allowed the evaluation of convergence for normal compression lines (NCLs) and the analysis under the light of critical state soil mechanics for the stress-strain response of the tested materials. The research outcomes show that changes in iron ore tailings gradings due to different production processes and the use of different compaction degrees had an influence on its behavior (compression and shearing) at lower stress levels, while at higher stresses levels, this difference is erased and there is a convergence for unique and parallels NCL and CSL on & nu;-ln p & PRIME;plane with a spacing of 2.71. On the p & PRIME;-q plane both tailings showed a unique and similar CSL.

Marine Protected Area Networks in Indonesia: Progress, Lessons and a Network Design Case Study Covering Six Eastern Provinces

Indonesia is the largest archipelagic nation in the world with 17,504 islands, a coastline of 108,000 km and 15.8% (27,255 km(2)) of the world's coral reefs. This paper reviews the status of marine protected areas (MPAs) and networks of MPA in Indonesia, draws on lessons learned, and highlights what has been learned from the design of a network of MPAs for Fisheries management Area (FMA) 715 across six eastern provinces as an example of how such work can be adapted for other parts of the country and elsewhere. Nationally, the 235,622 km(2) of MPAs are mostly large (average 2,380 km(2)) with use zones and small no-take areas (<15 percent). MPAs are implemented by provincial governments or one of 2 national agencies. The design of a network of MPAs across FMA 715 began with 14 MPAs covering 1,977,276 ha or 4% of the marine waters of FMA 715 in 2016. Now there are 48 MPAs covering 3,062,206 hectares in the planning area, and the design process identified an additional 44 Areas of Interest required to establish new MPAs to augment the existing MPAs in FMA 715 to achieve the objectives of enhancing fisheries, protecting biodiversity, adapting to climate change while supporting community livelihoods and traditional practices. Issues identified in the process are that the scale and complexity of science and management needed is beyond what most stakeholders can easily comprehend;that implementation cuts across multiple jurisdictions with a still-new formal mandate for planning and managing the large network area;and, that the present process could only be possible with outside facilitating expertise. Finally, since the national conservation agency is currently finalizing legal guidelines for the planning and implementation of sub-national networks of MPA, this process has educated many and the result will lend legal and governance support to the continued planning and implementation of the FMA 715 MPA Network and for other areas.

As the World is facing environmental degradation issues due to large scale emissions of Green House Gases (GHG), a shift from conventional way of living to sustainable standards is needed. Therefore, the world's automobile industry is transforming from hydrocarbon based fuels to environmentfriendly technologies. Electric Vehicles (EVs) are a way forward to tackle these issues. Pakistan is now facing a new dilemma as the electricity generation capacity exceeds the demand, unlike before, and an alarming situation of poor air quality index. Transport sector being one of its key contributors. The transition from fossil fuel vehicles (FFVs) to EVs is, therefore, inevitable and a potential way to decarbonize its transport sector, to overcome these abysmal socio-economic conditions. However, effective transition from FFV to EVs could only be realized with EV charging station supplied with electricity from hybrid renewable energy (RE) sources. Jamshoro, a district located in Sindh, in this context, is viable location with hybrid RE resources. This paper while providing an overview and prospects of EVs in Pakistan also highlights the hybrid RE resources of district Jamshoro towards establishing an EV charging station. This study finding suggests that it is obvious and variable to undertake measures to encourage EV market in Pakistan and establish RE based charging stations across the country as per potential of various locations.

An Integrated Asset management System (IAMS) is a strategic asset management system that combines the assets of different categories into a system to prioritize their maintenance. This paper proposes a risk-based reliability-centric IAMS framework which works on the principle that the risk associated with the failure of an asset is a function of its direct and indirect costs. The direct costs are the costs associated with the replacement of the assets, whereas the indirect costs are the risks that the city faces following the failure. The framework is applied to the asset database of the City of Sugar Land, TX. The results of the model are analyzed in terms of a reduction in the number of assets in a very high-risk category in the risk matrix, the network level expected annual failure rate, and an increase in the network level average reliability.

The standard specifications of state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) serve as the basis for project schedule control, establishing minimum requirements for the contractor schedule quality and allowing DOTs to effectively communicate and manage project schedule performance. However, the level of detail and sophistication varies across DOTs, and few references are available to guide DOTs in improving their standard specifications for contractor schedule management. This paper summarizes the current status of the contractor schedule requirements stipulated in the standard specifications for road construction projects at 18 DOTs. Key schedule requirements were extracted and categorized under four high-level criteria and 14 sub-criteria developed by reviewing past literature and the DOTs' schedule specifications. The specification items across the 18 DOTs were then compared to identify any gaps between the various states' requirements. The outcome of this study will help state DOTs assess the current status of their contractor schedule requirements and identify areas for improvement, which will enhance schedule management and contractor schedule quality. It will also contribute to academia by providing insight into the current schedule management practices of DOTs for road construction projects.

The purpose of this technical report was to observe the relationship of internal and external stakeholders during the execution of a digital transformation project in a leading vehicle rental company in Brazil. The report was prepared using the qualitative research approach, using consultation of the project's primary data, document analysis and participant observation. The results signal the importance of the correct mapping of stakeholders and how it affects the bonds of trust between the various parties involved, a factor capable of influencing the trajectory of the project. This study was limited to having analyzed only one project. As future studies, the impact of stakeholder influence on digital transformation programs and portfolios and how the time factor is affected in this organizational arrangement could be studied.
