Rate control is one of the key factors influencing the multi-view video ***,there is not a rate control algorithm in the existing Joint Multi-view Video Coding *** this paper,an efficient rate control algorithm and a bit allocation strategy for multi-view video coding are *** order to obtain the consistent view quality,a bit allocation model based on the Lagrange optimum algorithm is firstly ***,considering the encoding statistical characteristics of different view types,a view weighting factor is introduced,and it will help improve the precision of bit allocation among *** with the fixed QP control strategy,experiment results show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently control the bit rate and obtain more consistent views,with video visual quality improved.

Based on the analysis of color histogram for image retrieval, a new descriptor, bit-plane distribution feature(BPDF), is proposed in this paper. The image is firstly divided into eight bit-planes. Meantime, the Gray code of bit-planes is used to avoid the effect of changes in the intensity values on bit-planes. Then, according to the distribution of each bit-plane, a feature vector is constructed by the first four significant planes which contain most of the structural information of the image. Finally, the Mahalanobis distance is adopted to measure the similarity because of the correlation between the concerned vectors after designing a correlation-weighted matrix. Comparisons are conducted between BPDF and other descriptors. Experimental results show that the proposed method provides more significantly retrieval results than the traditional ones. © 2009 IEEE.

According to the heterogeneous characteristics of wireless mesh networks and the QoS requirements of multimedia applications, we design a novel QoS adaptive architecture for WMNs that is cross-domain, cross-layer and cross-node. Furthermore, this architecture is mathematically described by using a bi-level programming model. This model uses the optimization results of subnets as the optimization parameters or optimization constraints of backbone networks, and combines the features of different network domains. Based on this bi-level programming model, we propose an ant colony optimization based routing algorithm. Simulation results show that the bi-level programming model, which fully optimizes various QoS parameters of paths, can effectively adapt to the heterogeneous characteristics of WMNs so as to obtain the optimal path;the proposed routing algorithm, which has both advantages of low complexity and fast convergence speed, can converge to the theoretical optimal solution of bi-level programming model. © 2008 IEEE.

With the large-scale activities increasing gradually, the intelligent video surveillance system becomes more and more popular and important. The trajectory identification and behavior analysis are very important techniques for the intelligent video surveillance system. This paper focuses on the trajectory identification and behavior analysis framework for video surveillance system. The framework is implemented on footbridge video and queuing video of Shanghai World Expo 2010 video surveillance system. A new algorithm of color image blind watermarking based on BP neural network and wavelet significant tree is proposed. In YCbCr, the luminance component is decomposed with wavelet, and the wavelet significant tree can be found. Then the correlativity among nodes of wavelet significant tree is described by the nonlinear relationship responded by the trained BP neural network. Based on the relationship, the watermark is embedded into wavelet significant trees. Finally, the embedded watermark can be extracted without original image. The experimental results show that the embedded watermark can be extracted preferably in some common attacks, and this algorithm has better transparency and stronger robustness with some comparisons to other algorithms. © 2008 IEEE.

This paper proposes an improved image interpolation method based on the soft-decision adaptive interpolation (SAI) algorithm. Natural images often contain repeatable patterns and structures throughout the image, which is called non-local property. We can use this non-local strategy to improve the interpolation quality by better estimating the model parameters and Lagrangian multiplier. There are two steps in our method. In the first step, similar patches of the given block are found in the initialized high resolution image, and the model parameters can be determined properly using the expanded piecewise auto regression (PAR) model and non-local spatial constraint. In the second step, the self-similarity of patches across the high and low resolution images is exploited to solve the Lagrangian multiplier λ, thus to make the data estimation robust. Experiments indicate that the improved method can achieve good results both subjectively and objectively.

Brain electrical activity is widely accepted as the typical non-stationary signal. In addition, there exist more evidences that both EEG and ERP signals are chaotic signal produced by the nonlinear dynamics system. To investigate the time-varying nonlinear dynamics of the ERP under specified cognitive tasks, a novel model based on the time-variant coupled map lattice system is proposed for this purpose. The time-variant largest Lyapunov exponent (LLE) is also defined as the quantitative parameters to reveal the global characters of system and discover new information. Several simulations and real ERP signals under different fixed location cue were examined in terms of LLE spectra for studying the signal's dynamic complexity. The experimental results show that the brain chaos changes with time under different attention tasks of the information processing. The influence of the LLE with the scopes size of cues mainly occurs in P2 period. No simple linearly relationship between the scopes of cues and the influence of complexity is found. © 2006 Research Publishing Services.

Robust foreground detection is a fundamental precursor of many video processing applications. Although various approaches were advanced, there still exist many factors making detection very challenging: 1) Dynamic background with gradual brightness changes, camera movement and large amount of noises. 2) Sharp illumination changes caused by shadows, light on-off, and so on. 3) Real-time requirement for practical systems. To overcome these problems, a new approach is proposed in this paper. It is based on the background of conventional Gaussian Mixed Model, incorporating tempo-spatial consistency validation to search genuine foreground seeds, so that foreground segments can be reliably acquired using region growth method. Experiments demonstrate that our approach achieves better performance than conventional GMM approach in detection accuracy, adaptability to sudden illumination changes and computation time.

As no reference frame can be obtained in Intra-frame error concealment, reducing the degradation of spatial reconstructed image is one of the key techniques in error concealment. In this paper, a novel spatial error concealment algorithm based on fuzzy clustering for Intra-frame in H.264 is proposed. This proposed algorithm gives a new selection of eigenvectors and similarity measurement for fuzzy clustering. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the edge details, achieve a better subjective quality of the recovered image and increase PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) as well.

It is very important to find a criterion when to perform a resampling step. Aimed at this problem, an adaptive resampling algorithm in particle filter based on diversity measures is presented. Based on the analysis and comparison of two diversity measures that are effective sample size (ESS) and population diversity factor(PDF), the resampling algorithm based on ESS is introduced. On the basis of that, PDF is used for adaptively tuning the resampling threshold. At last, with the simulation program using matlab.7.0 to track a single target motion from a fixed visual observation points, the performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated and its validity is verified. ©2010 IEEE.
