Autofocusing is essential and serves as a prerequisite for the automation of embryo biopsy in preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) using robotics. Despite the existence of numerous autofocus algorithms, achieving accurate autofocusing for cleavage-stage embryos in brightfield microscopy remains challenging due to their non-unimodal nature. Thus, an adaptive and robust autofocusing method is required. This paper presents an autofocusing method based on an adaptive focus measure. The proposed method employs an adaptive focus measure selection approach and incorporates a coarse-to-fine strategy for autofocusing cleavage-stage embryos in brightfield microscopy. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed autofocusing method achieves superior performance compared to other regular autofocus algorithms in brightfield microscopy for cleavage-stage embryos. Single-image super-resolution (SR) tasks have achieved fancy success in recent years by leveraging deep convolution neural network (CNN). Although CNNs obtain powerful representation capabilities of reconstructing a high-resolution (HR) image from its corresponding low-resolution (LR) observation, it is hard to apply these accomplishments to real world for its large number of parameters that bring about huge computing resource cost. To solve this problem, many researchers turn their directions to lightening the network by delicate designs while keeping the performance in the high level. In this paper, we propose a new method to further reduce the parameters by using the new feature extraction paradigm called Mixer which only contains Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP). Compared to convolutional operations, Mixer operation has the same representation capabilities with fewer parameters. In this paper, three typical lightweight networks, where we replace the convolutional operation with Mixer, are used to show the excellent ability. Our experimental results demonstrate that Mixer can help these lightweight networks further reduce the number of parameters by up to 38% while keep their performance in the same level. © 2023 ACM.

In this paper, the strain and vibration of the bridge cable and its compensation device were monitored using fiber optic grating (FBG) sensing technology on the Zhoushan-Daishan Bridge in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province. During the monitoring period, the bridge experienced two typhoon events. The strain and vibration signals were analyzed. The results showed that the typhoon 'Muifa' had a greater impact on the Zhoushan-Daishan Bridge than typhoon 'Hinnamnor'. And there was no movement of the expansion compensation device during the monitoring period.

Active deception jamming is one of the common means to jam radar signals. How to effectively recognize active deception jamming is a challenge of modern radar technology. To address the accuracy and real-time of radar active jamming recognition in practical applications, we propose a fast recognition method of radar active deception jamming based on hyperdimensional computing. First, to address the high feature dimensions, we use the sparse representation of time-frequency diagrams as the input, which time-frequency diagrams are constructed by the jamming plus echo signals in multiple consecutive pulse periods. Second, to achieve a high accuracy and real time of recognition, we employ the hyperdimensional computing to map the input to hyperdimensional space for training and recognition. Last, in the recognition stage, the Hamming distance is adopted to measure the similarity of samples. We validate our method on nine types of radar active deception jamming. The experimental results show that compared with the existing mainstream machine learning-based methods, the proposed method greatly shortens the training time on the premise of maintaining a high recognition accuracy. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Solution processability is a unique property of organic semiconductors. The compact and regular π-π stacking between molecules is paramount in the performance of organic optoelectronic devices. However, it is still a challenge to improve their stacking quality without sacrificing the solution-processability from the aspect of materials design. Here, delicately engineered additives are presented to promote the formation of ordered aggregation of conjugated molecules by regulating their nucleation and growth dynamics. Intriguingly, the long-chain BTP-eC9-4F molecules can realize ordered aggregation comparable to short-chain ones without sacrificing processability. The domain size of BTP-eC9-4F aggregation is enlarged from 24.2 to 32.2 nm in blend *** exciton diffusion and charge transport become faster, contributing to the suppression of recombination losses. As a result, a power conversion efficiency of 19.2% is achieved in D18:BTP-eC9-4F based organic photovoltaics. Our findings demonstrate a facile strategy to improve the packing quality of solution-processed organic semiconductors for high-efficiency photovoltaics and beyond photovoltaics.

As the deadliest form of pollution, air pollution had a prolonged severe damage to the human health and life safety of nearly 99% of the world's population. Facing to the problem that billions of tons of pollutants discharged into the air per year by industrial activities, this paper proposed a novel image-based air pollution monitor (IAPM) by incorporating local and global information in the self-adaptive multiscale transform domain, so as to achieve the timely and effective leakage detection of typical air pollutants from a single image. To be specific, this paper first developed a screen-shaped module according to two significant findings in visual neuroscience, which include the high sensitivity of human eyes to horizontal and vertical stimuli and the center-surround inhibition, by designing and fusing the square module, horizontal strip module and vertical strip module parallelly for simulating the behaviour of human eyes to extract local features. Second, the learnable weights and proportional mapping were applied to incorporate the screen-shaped module and lightweight vision transformer as backbone, towards more richly exploiting and fusing local and global information just as the way a brain perceives external stimuli. Third, a new self-adaptive multiscale transform domain method was devised based on two motivations from the visual characteristics of multiscale perception and the brain characteristics of self-adaptive domain transform to modify the backbone by using the operations of pooling and pointwise convolution. Extensive experiments implemented on the datasets of carbon particulate matters and ethylene leakage confirmed the superior monitoring performance of the proposed IAPM model beyond the state-of-the-art (SOTA) peers by an accuracy gain of about 4%. Furthermore, the proposed IAPM model only required 0.089 GFLOPs and 0.15 million model parameters, remarkably outperforming SOTA competitors in computational efficiency and storage resources. © 1999-2

Niobium telluride(NbTe_(2)),a kind of few-layer two-dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)material,has been theoretically predicted with nonlinear absorption properties and excellent optical ***,we experimentally demonstrated an Er-doped fiber(EDF)laser based NbTe_(2)as saturable absorber(SA).Few-layer NbTe_(2)nanosheets were successfully prepared by adopting the commonly used liquid-phase exfoliation(LPE)*** nonlinear optical response of highly stable few-layer NbTe_(2)was investigated through an open-aperture Z-scan laser measurement,the nonlinear absorption coefficient was 2.45×10^(-11)m/*** Q-switched and mode-locked operation centered at 1559 nm were recorded based on NbTe_(2)*** pulse duration was varied from 4.88 ms to 1.75 ms,and the adjustable range of repetition frequency is changed from 44.01 kHz to 64.12 kHz in passively Q-switched ***,a constant repetition rate of 5.33 MHz and pulse width of 2.67 ps were observed in mode-locked *** experimental results fully reveal the nonlinear optical prop-erties of NbTe_(2)used in pulsed fiber lasers and broaden its ultrafast applications in the optics field.

Fre-Yolo: Feature Refinement Extraction Network with Yolo for Blade Tip Small Point Light Detection

Detecting blade tip point light sources based on airborne computer vision is a critical step in measuring blade tip distance for coaxial unmanned helicopters. However, detecting blade tip point light sources quickly and highly accurately in a helicopter airborne environment is a challenge due to the extremely tiny imaging size of the blade tip point light sources. To this end, we propose a FRE-YOLO for detecting blade tip point light sources based on the YOLO network structure. In this work, we focus on designing a Feature Refinement Extraction network (FRE), which can greatly enrich the feature information of small targets during Backbone downsampling. Secondly, we also design a new paradigm Smooth Gaussian Distance (SmoothGD) which measures the degree of target bounding box matching. SmoothGD is mainly applied to regression loss calculation and label assigner, which can effectively improve the small target detection accuracy. Meanwhile, we construct the Blade Tip Point Light (BTPL) dataset for the network training. In addition, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method more fairly, this paper conducts the same experiments on BTPL and the small target dataset VisDrone on MMYOLO. A large amount of experimental data shows that the proposed method has a positive impact on the detection of tiny point sources at the tip of the blade.
