We present an unequal decoding power allocation (UDPA) approach for minimization of the receiver power consumption subject to a given quality of service (QoS), by exploiting data partitioning and turbo decoding. We assign unequal decoding power of forward error correction (FEC) to data partitions with different priority by jointly considering the source coding, channel coding and receiver power consumption. The proposed scheme is applied to H.264 video over additive white Gaussion noise (AWGN) channel, and achieves excellent tradeoff between video delivery quality and power consumption, and yields significant power saving compared with the conventional equal decoding power allocation (EDPA) approach in wireless video transmission.

One major cause of Alzheimer’s disease(AD) is evidently due to the aggregation and deposition of amyloidβ peptides(Aβ) in the brain tissue of the patient. Preventing misfolding and self-aggregation of Aβ protein can reduce the formation of highly toxic polymer, which is important for the treatment of AD. Among them, the α-helix consisting of42 residues(Aβ42) is the main component of senile plaques in AD. In this paper, 500 ns accelerated molecular dynamics are performed at different temperatures(300 K, 350 K, 400 K, 450 K) to study of the effect of temperature-induced conformation changes of Aβ42 protein during the unfolding process respectively.

When transmitting encoded images over a communication channel, the reconstructed image quality can be substantially degraded by channel errors. This paper presents a spatial error concealment algorithm that utilizes variance of surrounding pixels, and then classifies each error block (EB) into two categories: uniform block and edge block. For uniform block, nearest border prior spatial interpolation is adopted to restore missing pixels. We use the Wiener interpolation algorithm and special interpolation sequence for edge block. Experimental results indicate the proposed algorithm can attain well restored quality of intra-frames both subjectively and objectively. Meanwhile, the computational cost of the proposed algorithm can be significantly reduced, compared to Lipsilas method. And the restored quality is almost the same, sometimes even much better.
