With the accelerated global urbanization and life rhythm, an increasing physical and mental stress has been imposed, which led to a variety of problems that could not be ignored. This paper proposes a novel web-based telemedicine system that is focusing on psychotherapy. Considering the requirement of the psychological treatment, the function of system contains high definition video monitoring, two-way voice talkback, physiology parameters monitoring and data management based on database. The solution of the system is presented in the paper, including the hardware and software design. Some key issues in the system, including HD video processing, physiological parameters processing, are also discussed. Finally, the demonstration system and performance evaluation are presented.

In orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) uplink system, estimations of time delay and carrier frequency offset (CFO) are both particularly challenging. In this paper, a coarse CFO and time delay estimation method is proposed for interleaved OFDMA uplink system. By exploiting the special scheme of interleaved OFDMA, the repetitive time-domain training symbol is designed, and the training sequences for different users have good autocorrelation and cross-correlation properties. Furthermore, the time delay and CFO estimation metrics are presented by making certain correlation between the received training symbol and the local sequence. Through searching peak of the proposed metrics, integral CFO of many subcarriers spaces for each user can be estimated, and then timing delay for each user can be found. Simulations illustrate the proposed estimation scheme can get good performance under multipath channel.

ConvNextUNet: A small-region attentioned model for cardiac MRI segmentation

Cardiac MRI segmentation is a significant research area in medical image processing, holding immense clinical and scientific importance in assisting the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases. Currently, existing cardiac MRI segmentation algorithms are often constrained by specific datasets and conditions, leading to a notable decrease in segmentation performance when applied to diverse datasets. These limitations affect the algorithm's overall performance and generalization capabilities. Inspired by ConvNext, we introduce a two-dimensional cardiac MRI segmentation U-shaped network called ConvNextUNet. It is the first application of a combination of ConvNext and the U-shaped architecture in the field of cardiac MRI segmentation. Firstly, we incorporate up-sampling modules into the original ConvNext architecture and combine it with the U-shaped framework to achieve accurate reconstruction. Secondly, we integrate Input Stem into ConvNext, and introduce attention mechanisms along the bridging path. By merging features extracted from both the encoder and decoder, a probability distribution is obtained through linear and nonlinear transformations, serving as attention weights, thereby enhancing the signal of the same region of interest. The resulting attention weights are applied to the decoder features, highlighting the region of interest. This allows the model to simultaneously consider local context and global details during the learning phase, fully leveraging the advantages of both global and local perception for a more comprehensive understanding of cardiac anatomical structures. Consequently, the model demonstrates a clear advantage and robust generalization capability, especially in small-region segmentation. Experimental results on the ACDC, LVQuan19, and RVSC datasets confirm that the ConvNextUNet model outperforms the current state-of-the-art models, particularly in small-region segmentation tasks. MPEG-DASH introduced open standards into HTTP streaming, which was a huge step forward. The scope of the MPEG-DASH standard was limited to the Media Presentation Description (MPD) format of the manifest files as well as the segmentation standards for the server, but did not include the client application as part of their standards. Particularly a good representation switching algorithm at DASH client should adapt to time varying bandwidth with better QoE (Quality of Experience). In this paper, we propose a QoE friendly rate adaptation method which can achieve less switching times and more gradual quality change. To achieve these purposes, we propose a fixed-interval buffer model, which keeps the representation level unchanged whenever the media buffer size is within the preset interval. We also design a step-wise switch-up method to prevent buffer overflow and a switch-down method based on intermediate quality level to prevent buffer underflow. A quick boot algorithm is introduced to fully improve the performance of the proposed scheme. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve more satisfactory results compared with existing ones.

Semantic segmentation is one of the most important research directions in the field of computer vision, and has a wide range of applications for autonomous driving, medical imaging, intelligent security, etc. Unsupervised domain adaptation is the mainstream research topic in recent years, which can use a large number of labeled source samples to complete the segmentation task in target domain without labeled target samples. In this paper, we propose a prototype-guided unsupervised domain adaptation for semantic segmentation based on ProDA model. Due to lacking of labeled target samples and the prior probability, a prototype distance loss based on target domain is proposed to optimize the distribution of features by measuring the distance between features and the updated prototype and designing an adaptive threshold strategy. Meanwhile, a smoothing loss is proposed to alleviate the impact of source samples on our model and improve the prediction performance of the network. By conducting experiments on the GTA5 to Cityscapes scenarios, the results show that compared with the original model, the loss optimization improves mIoU by1.52.

Sparse signal representation from overcomplete dictionaries have been extensively investigated in recent research, leading to state-of-the-art results in signal, image and video restoration. One of the most important issues is involved in selecting the proper size of dictionary. However, the related guidelines are still not established. In this paper, we tackle this problem by proposing a so-called sub clustering K-SVD algorithm. This approach incorporates the subtractive clustering method into K-SVD to retain the most important atom candidates. At the same time, the redundant atoms are removed to produce a well-trained dictionary. As for a given dataset and approximation error bound, the proposed approach can deduce the optimized size of dictionary, which is greatly compressed as compared with the one needed in the K-SVD algorithm.

Training deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for airway segmentation is challenging due to the sparse supervisory signals caused by severe class imbalance between long, thin airways and background. In view of the intricate pattern of tree-like airways, the segmentation model should pay extra attention to the morphology and distribution characteristics of airways. We propose a CNNs-based airway segmentation method that enjoys superior sensitivity to tenuous peripheral bronchioles. We first present a feature recalibration module to make the best use of learned features. Spatial information of features is properly integrated to retain relative priority of activated regions, which benefits the subsequent channel-wise recalibration. Then, attention distillation module is introduced to reinforce the airway-specific representation learning. High-resolution attention maps with fine airway details are passing down from late layers to previous layers iteratively to enrich context knowledge. Extensive experiments demonstrate considerable performance gain brought by the two proposed modules. Compared with state-of-the-art methods, our method extracted much more branches while maintaining competitive overall segmentation performance. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

Most stereoscopic 3D (S3D) image visual discomfort predictors use the Support Vector Regressor (SVR) as the regression model. However, there are other good regression models such as the Random Forests (RF) and Gradient Boost Regression Tree (GBRT). Here we study the efficacy of these regression models for S3D image visual discomfort prediction. We deployed several regression models to predict the visual discomfort scores on S3D images using three kinds of features extracted from the images in the IEEE-SA and EPFL S3D image databases. So the prediction performance was evaluated to compare the performance of the different regression models. We also studied the issue of over-fitting which can affect model performance. The comparison results show that it is feasible and reliable to apply Random Forests or GBRT for S3D visual discomfort prediction with better performance than SVR.

Since the lighting conditions in strong contrast regions between the light and dark cant be estimated accurately by traditional center/surround Retinex algorithm, the over-enhancement and color distortion may exist. In view of this, combining with the human visual characteristics, a color image enhancement algorithm based on tone-preserving was proposed. A determination function was added to the bilateral filter to estimate illuminance image more accurately and weaken over-enhancement. According to human visual masking effect, the improved gamma correction was utilized to correct the brightness of illumination image adaptively and the local contrast of reflection image obtained by division was enhanced based on local statistics. Besides, the final enhanced image was obtained by combining illumination image with reflection image, which can make image appear more natural. Compared with other similar algorithms from both subjective and objective aspects, the results show that this method being applied to low-contrast color image enhancement can not only improve image clarity, but reduce color distortion.

Traditional video synopsis methods model the processing into an optimization formula where relations among objects such as collision cost are utilized while entire re-calculation is introduced under each possible temporal shift. Unlike the pairwise cost optimization, we propose a low-complexity and efficient online synopsis method where each tube is processed independently. Without tubes' comparison, the rearrangement is accomplished by a simple projection strategy and an updating projection matrix which records the newest information of the moving space. Furthermore, buffer and a predefined fitness condition also help to increase spatial and temporal utilization. Experiment results demonstrate that the proposed method is superior to other synopsis methods in the processing speed and temporal consistency.
