Owing to the recent advancements of meta-materials and meta-surfaces, the concept of reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) has been embraced to meet the spectral- and energy-efficient, and yet cost-effective solutions for the sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks. From an operational standpoint, RISs can be easily deployed on the facades of buildings and indoor walls. Albeit promising, in the actual network operation, the deployment of RISs may face challenges because of the willingness and benefits of RIS holders from the aspect of installing RISs on their properties. Accordingly, RIS-aided wireless networks are faced with a formidable mission: how to balance the wireless service providers (WSPs) and RIS holders in terms of their respective interests. To alleviate this deadlock, we focus on the application of pricing models in RIS-aided wireless networks in pursuit of a win-win solution for both sides. Specifically, we commence with a comprehensive introduction of RIS pricing with its potential applications in RIS networks, meanwhile the fundamentals of pricing models are summarized in order to benefit both RIS holders and WSPs. In addition, a Stackelberg game-based model is exemplified to illustrate the operation of utility-maximization pricing. Finally, we highlight open issues and future research directions of applying pricing models to the RIS-aided wireless networks. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Linear frequency modulated continuous wave (LFMCW) radar has been applied to the field about short-range target detection. In this article, in order to achieve the low cost and general short-range target detection, a semi-physical LFMCW radar system is designed to estimate the distance and speed of the moving target in real scenarios. Meanwhile, the received echo signal is processed by using sparse Fourier transform and fast Fourier transform so as to further improve computational efficiency. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the designed semi-physical LFMCW radar system. More importantly, the designed system also lays the foundation for the future engineering application for the LFMCW radar. © This is an open access article published by the IET under the Creative Commons Attribution License (http://***/licenses/by/3.0/)

Linear codes with few weights have applications in secret sharing, authentication codes, association schemes and strongly regular graphs. In this paper, several classes of t -weight linear codes over F q are presented with the defining sets given by the intersection, difference and union of two certain sets, where t = 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 and q is an odd prime power. By using Weil sums and Gauss sums, the parameters and weight distributions of these codes are determined completely. Moreover, three classes of optimal codes meeting the Griesmer bound are obtained, and computer experiments show that many (almost) optimal codes can be derived from our constructions.

In this paper, a change detection method of multitemporal remote sensing (RS) images based on weighted nonnegative matrix factorization (WNMF) is proposed. Firstly, difference image is generated according to the different types of input images. Then, in order to effectively explore the change information in two original RS images, WNMF is applied to extract features from the resulting difference image, in which a new weight matrix is designed by using difference values of the corresponding pixels. In addition, sparse constraint based on l 1/2 -norm regularization is enforced into WNMF to learn sparser features. Finally, a binary change mask (CM) is achieved by partitioning the extracted features with the k-means clustering. Experimental results on two pairs of RS images demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

In this work, we propose a semi-supervised method for classification of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolS AR) images. In the proposed method, a 2-level mixture model is constructed by associating each component density with a unique Wishart mixture model (instead of a single Wishart distribution as that in the conventional Wishart mixture model). This modeling scheme facilitates the accurate description of data for the categories, each of which includes multiple subcategories. The learning algorithm for the proposed model is developed based on variational inference and all the update equations are obtained in closed form. In the learning algorithm, the spatial interdependencies are incorporated by imposing a Markov random field prior on the indicator variable to alleviate the speckle effect on the classification results. The experimental results demonstrate the improved performance of the proposed method compared with the unsupervised version and supervised version of the proposed model as well as an existing method for semi-supervised classification.

This paper proposes a deep-neural-network-based semi-supervised method for polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) data classification. The proposed method focuses on achieving a well-trained deep neural network (DNN) when the amount of the labeled samples is limited. In the proposed method, the probability vectors, where each entry indicates the probability of a sample associated with a category, are first evaluated for the unlabeled samples, leading to an augmented training set. With this augmented training set, the parameters in the DNN are learned by solving the optimization problem, where the log-likelihood cost function and the class probability vectors are used. To alleviate the “salt-and-pepper” appearance in the classification results of PolSAR images, the spatial interdependencies are incorporated by introducing a Markov random field (MRF) prior in the prediction step. The experimental results on two realistic PolSAR images demonstrate that the proposed method effectively incorporates the spatial interdependencies and achieves the good classification accuracy with a limited number of labeled samples.

A batched sparse (BATS) code provides a novel two-stage coding structure for the multi-hop network, in which the outer code performed at the source node generates a potentially unlimited number of batches and the inner code at the intermediate network nodes applies network coding on packets belonging to the same batch. Previous works have studied the performance of BATS codes in the erasure channels, in which the packet loss rate ε is always assumed to be a constant on each link. However, in some application scenarios such as the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoTs) where there are a number of mobile nodes in the networks, the channel conditions could be time-variant due to the mobility of nodes, resulting the packet loss rate ε varying over time as well. Therefore this paper studies the rank distribution which is one of the most significant performance metric of BATS codes under time-variant channels by assuming the packet loss between links modeled as a random variable instead of a constant value. Closed-form expressions of rank distribution are obtained with the packet loss rate ε following two typical types of distributions. Both numerical and simulation results are provided to verify our analysis.

On the Detection of Multiple-Access Spatial Modulations

The detection problem for the Multipleaccess Spatial modulations(M-SM) is investigated in this paper, where multiple transmitters adopting spatial modulation communicate to the receiver at the same *** optimal Maximum-likelihood(ML) detection suffers from the high computational complexity, while Sphere decoding(SD) can not reduce the complexity effectively because of the multiple active antennas in M-SM. In order to avoid the high complexity, a Space-alternating generalized expectation-maximization(SAGE) algorithm aided List-pro jection(S-LP) detector is proposed and applied to M-SM systems. The received signal vector is firstly projected onto the subspaces spanned by the columns of channel matrices corresponding to the possible active antennas. Then some combinations of antenna indices with the largest pro jections are selected as candidate index sets,based on which, a modified SAGE algorithm is applied to update the candidate symbols. Both analysis and simulation results show that the proposed S-LP detector achieves a near-optimum performance with a significantly reduced complexity compared with ML and SD detection.

In this paper, a clustering based resource management scheme for latency and sum rate optimization in V2X networks is proposed to identify distinguished demands for different kinds of vehicular links, namely cellular-vehicle-to-vehicle (C-V2V) links and cellular-vehicle-to-infrastructure (C-V2I) links, and to improve the performance of cellular user in terms of sum rate, latency and throughput for C-V2I links while guaranteeing reliability for every C-V2V connection. To address the fast channel changes due to high mobility, we present a clustering based resource management model to achieve band sharing and efficient power management that depends on large scale fading. Besides, we have also considered the resource management problem of cellular V2X and VANETs users to reduce data transmission impacts. Firstly, the total average sum rate of each C-V2I links is used as an optimization goal to increase the throughput and to reduce latency of the entire C-V2I link. Secondly, cluster based optimum algorithms are proposed which give the optimum resource management. Simulation results reveal that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing scheme.

Binary representaion for non-binary LDPC code with decoder design

The equivalent binary parity check matrices for the binary images of the cycle-free non-binary LDPC codes have numerous bit-level cycles. In this paper, we show how to transform these binary parity check matrices into their cycle-free forms. It is shown that the proposed methodology can be adopted not only for the binary images of non-binary LDPC codes but also for a large class of binary LDPC codes. Specifically, we present an extended p-reducible (EPR) LDPC code structure to eliminate the bit-level cycles. For the non-binary LDPC codes with short length symbol-level cycles, the EPR-LDPC codes can largely avoid the corresponding short length bit-level cycles. As to the decoding of the EPR-LDPC codes, we propose a hybrid hard-decision decoder and a hybrid parallel decoder for binary symmetric channel and binary input Gaussian channel, respectively. A simple code optimization algorithm for these binary decoders is also provided. Simulations show the comparative results and justify the advantages, i.e., better performance and lower decoding complexity, of the proposed binary constructions. Copyright © 2020, The Authors.
