It's well known that sparse signals can be sensed with a reduced number of projections and then reconstructed if compressive sensing (CS) is employed. We consider the problem of designing the projection matrix Φ for a compressive sensing system in which the dictionary Ψ is assumed to be given. Moreover, we consider the more general case in which the measurements are contaminated by white Gaussian noise. A novel robust algorithm based on regular minimization from the Mean Square Error(MSE) view for optimal projection matrix searching is proposed to solve the corresponding minimization problem. Simulation results reveal that the signal recovery performance of sensing matrix obtained by the proposed algorithm surpasses that achieved by other existing sensing matrix design methods. © 2013 IEEE.

Traditionally, the projection matrix in compressive sensing (CS) is chosen as a random matrix. In recent years, we have seen that the performance of CS systems can be improved by using a carefully designed projection matrix rather than a random one. In particular, we can reduce the coherence between the columns of the equivalent dictionary thanks to a well-designed projection matrix. Then, we can get a lower reconstruction error and a higher successful reconstruction rate. In some applications, the signals of interest have nonzero entries occurring in clusters - i.e., block-sparse signals. In this paper, we use the equiangular tight frame (ETF) to approach the Gram matrix of equivalent dictionary rather than the identity matrix used in [1]. Then, we minimize a weighted sum of the subblock coherence and the interblock coherence of the equivalent dictionary. The simulation results show that our novel method for projection matrix optimization significantly improves the ability of block-sparse approximation techniques to reconstruct and classify signals than the method proposed by Lihi Zelnik-Manor (LZM) [1]. © 2013 IEEE.

In lager-scale P2P file sharing systems, peers often must interact with unknown or unfamiliar peers without the benefit of trusted third parties or authorities to mediate the interactions. The decentralized and anonymous characteristics of P2P environments make the task of controlling access to sharing information more difficult. In this paper, we identify access control requirements and propose a trust based access control framework for P2P file-sharing systems. The model integrates aspects of trust and recommendation, fairness based participation schemes and access control schemes.

This paper presents a new approach to selecting the initial seed set using stratified sampling strategy in bootstrapping-based semi-supervised learning for semantic relation classification. First, the training data is partitioned into several strata according to relation types/subtypes, then relation instances are randomly sampled from each stratum to form the initial seed set. We also investigate different augmentation strategies in iteratively adding reliable instances to the lab.led set, and find that the bootstrapping procedure may stop at a reasonable point to significantly decrease the training time without degrading too much in performance. Experiments on the ACE RDC 2003 and 2004 corpora show the stratified sampling strategy contributes more than the bootstrapping procedure itself. This suggests that a proper sampling strategy is critical in semi-supervised learning. © 2009 ACL and AFNLP.

In this paper, we investigate the effects that the lossy image compression has on the performance competitive codes of palmprint verification algorithms. Effects of lossy compression on palmprint recognition performance are of interest in applications where image storage space and transmission time are of critical importance. To reconcile that goal with its implications for bandwidth and storage, we test the effects of image lossy compression on competitive code under different transforms, quantization and encoding algorithms using a publicly availab.e palmprint database. Experiments performing recognition directly in the compressed domain show that the extracted feature template variation from the compressed palmprint image is not consistent with the image distortion. What is interesting, the effect on the JPEG is more serious than that of JPEG2000 when the compression ratio is bigger than about 11 while the effect on JPEG2000 is more serious than that of JPEG when the compression ratio is smaller than about 11. And the trellis coded quantized method is not suitable for compressing palmprint images. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper explores Chinese semantic role lab.ling (SRL) for nominal predicates. Besides those widely used features in verbal SRL, various nominal SRL-specific features are first included. Then, we improve the performance of nominal SRL by integrating useful features derived from a state-of-the-art verbal SRL system. Finally, we address the issue of automatic predicate recognition, which is essential for a nominal SRL system. Evaluation on Chinese NomBank shows that our research in integrating various features derived from verbal SRL significantly improves the performance. It also shows that our nominal SRL system much outperforms the state-of-the-art ones. © 2009 ACL and AFNLP.

Data augmentation is an important technique for enhancing machine learning performance. In this study, we propose a novel generative data augmentation method for named entity recognition, which addresses the challenge of limited lab.led data in professional domains such as biomedical and chemical. The proposed method involves organizing input entities into a Transformer model to produce tagged sentences that are specifically related to the input entities. By leveraging external entity dictionaries, we effectively generate new tagged data and demonstrate its superiority over other data augmentation methods. Our approach offers a potential solution to the NER challenges faced in low-resource languages and specialized domains. © 2023 IEEE.

Side chain packing is a crucial step for protein structure prediction. And the quality of rotamer library has important implications in side chain packing. This paper assess dunbrack rotamer libraries and simple sampling rotamer libraries for certain structures by comparing the native structure and solutions come from rotamer libraries. Results of eleven hard targets in CASP9 show that the best solution is near to the native structure. Otherwise, there is no native structure in protein structure *** compare the best solutions which choosing by lower RMSD and energy, it shows that the best solution which choosing by lower energy is near to the best solution which choosing by low RMSD. So, in the case of unknown native structure, the energy guided choosing is necessary, but it must adopt some other method such as clustering to select the best solution. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper tries to fill the gap between Traditional Chinese Pulse Diagnosis (TCPD) and Doppler diagnosis by applying digital signal analysis and pattern classification techniques to wrist radial arterial Doppler blood flow signals. Doppler blood flows signals (DBFS) of patients with cholecystitis, gastritis and healthy people are classified by L2-soft margin SVM and 5 linear classifiers using the proposed feature - piecewise axially integrated bispectra (PAIB). A 5-fold cross validation is used for performance evaluation. The classification accuracies between either two groups of subjects are greater than 93%. Gastritis can be recognized with higher accuracy than cholecystitis. Cholecystitis can be recognized with higher accuracy on left hand data than right. The findings in this paper partly conform to the theory of TCPD. Though the sample size is relatively small, we could still argue that the methods proposed here are effective and could serve as an assistive tool for TCPD. © 2010 IEEE.
