Existing work has demonstrated that network coding can significantly reduce system delay in multi-source and multi-destination scenarios. However, such a scheme doesn't take consideration in terms of throughput In this paper, we propose to use rateless coding scheme to network-coded multi-source and multi-destination scenarios, which is a practical minimizing system delay and maximizing throughput approach. In particular, the analytical result based on outage probability has been developed. Numerical results have also been provided to show the delay and throughput performance of the proposed protocol. © 2012 IEEE.

The random access systems, exploiting multiuser detectors such as MMSE detector and decorrelator, over large random spreading CDMA channel subject to Rayleigh fading is investigated, under the assumption of infinite number of users, infinite spreading gain, and their ratio converging to a constant. The signal to interference ratio (SIR) is shown to converge almost surely to a constant and the bit-error rate (BER) limit is a function of the transmission probability and traffic load. The throughput and spectrum efficiency are analyzed, and confirmed by simulation results.

Highly nonlinear boolean functions with optimal algebraic immunity and good behavior against fast algebraic attacks

Inspired by the previous work of Tu and Deng, we propose two infinite classes of Boolean functions of 2k variables where k≥ 2. The first class contains unbalanced functions having high algebraic degree and nonlinearity. The functions in the second one are balanced and have maximal algebraic degree and high nonlinearity (as shown by a lower bound that we prove;as a byproduct we also prove a better lower bound on the nonlinearity of the Carlet-Feng function). Thanks to a combinatorial fact, first conjectured by the authors and later proved by Cohen and Flori, we are able to show that they both possess optimal algebraic immunity. It is also checked that, at least for numbers of variables n≤ 16, functions in both classes have a good behavior against fast algebraic attacks. Compared with the known Boolean functions resisting algebraic attacks and fast algebraic attacks, both of them possess the highest lower bounds on nonlinearity. These bounds are however not enough for ensuring a sufficient nonlinearity for allowing resistance to fast correlation attack. Nevertheless, as for previously found functions with the same features, there is a gap between the bound that we can prove and the actual values computed for bounded numbers of variables (n≤ 38). Moreover, these values are very good. The infinite class of functions we propose in Construction 2 presents, among all currently known constructions, the best provable tradeoff between all the important cryptographic criteria. © 2012 IEEE.

Since the intra-cell interference can be nearly eliminated by OFDM, the inter-cell interference (ICI) has dominated the cellular networks and greatly degraded the system performance. In this paper, an ICI reduction method based on signal autocorrelation is proposed. In this method, the transmission signals from different cells may overlap in time and frequency, but they are processed to have linearly independent autocorrelation function by adopting a distinguishing pre-filter in each cell. Hence the downlink ICI from adjacent cells can be significantly eliminated by autocorrelation matched filter. To ease the requirement of multiple receiving antennas at the mobile stations, a modified method is proposed to suppress the strongest ICI from the nearest adjacent cell, which only requires 2 antennas equipped at the mobile station. The modified method is especially efficient for the edge cell users. ©2009 IEEE.

Recently, the scaling law has been extended to approximate the waterfall performance for Turbo codes over the binary erasure channel. However, the waterfall approximation over other channels, such as the AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels, is still unknown for Turbo codes. In this paper, an exponential model was proposed to approximate the waterfall performance for Turbo codes. The relationship between the proposed exponential model and the scaling law will be highlighted at first. Our analysis unveils that the proposed exponential model could be regarded as a generalized scaling law model, which makes it possible to achieve better performance estimate. The results in this paper explicitly shows that, the exponential model offers reasonable waterfall approximation for both word error probability and bit error probability for all packet sizes over a diverse channel, such as the binary erasure channel, the additive white Gaussian noise channel as well as the Rayleigh fading channel. The complete performance model could be derived by combining the exponential model and the known union bound model. Finally, some further discussions are presented to highlight the performance estimate problem for Turbo codes. ©2010 IEEE.

A semidefinite relaxation(SDR) scheme for high order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) in multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) system is proposed in this letter. By performing bound-constrained semidefinite relaxation (BC-SDR) and its tightened version successively, a very low complexity suboptimum approach for high order QAM signal detection can be obtained. The analysis and simulations demonstrate that the proposed successive decision feedback semidefinite relaxation scheme could outperform BC-SDR and approach its tightened version performance but with much lower complexity. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper considers multiuser cooperative relay networks with user selection at the mobile station, where both the relay and mobile users are corrupted by a finite number of co-channel interferers. We study the impact of the outdated channel state information (CSI) on the system performances over time-varying Rayleigh fading channels by deriving the tight lower bounds for the outage probability and symbol error rate (SER). In further, we derive the asymptotic expressions of the outage probability and SER with high signal-to-interference ratio (SIR). Finally the proposed theoretical studies are verified by the simulation results. © 2012 IEEE.

To satisfy and maximize the profit of both users and networks in all kinds of heterogeneous wireless networks, end users require appropriate selection of an optimal radio access network. At the same time consistent wireless networks have to select users to maximize its profit and the game theory is developed to address the questions how rational decision makers can interact to achieve their objectives and get extensive applications. To this end, this paper proposes a non-cooperative game model for network selection that models the network selection process as a game between the access networks and users, which can gain benefits for both users and networks. In this sense, networks play against users so as to maximize their profit, subject to satisfying QoS for all users and load for networks. The equilibrium of the game as the output makes the decision from which both users and networks mutually choose. Best response leads to suboptimal solution if equilibrium does not exist. Numerical results confirm that the game model leads to a profit tradeoff for both users and networks, compared with that only from the users' or networks' point of view. © 2010 IEEE.

In this paper, the effect of multipath fading on the orthogonality of FH/MFSK communication systems is analyzed. A general expression of the orthognality loss factor Djn is derived for the case of multipath Rayleigh fading. Based on the expression, it is shown that the Djn is determined not only by the multipath delays, signal strength fading and synchronization time error, but also by the phase variations caused by multipath time delays. Numerical results demonstrate that the effects vary with different phase variations. This result will further affect BER performance of FH/MFSK systems.

In this paper, a new class of low-hit-zone (LHZ) frequency-hopping sequence sets (LHZ FHS sets) is constructed based upon the Cartesian product, and the periodic partial Hamming correlation within its LHZ are studied. Studies have shown that the new LHZ FHS sets are optimal according to the periodic partial Hamming correlation bounds of FHS set, and some known FHS sets are the special cases of this new construction. © Copyright 2017 The Institute of Electronics, information and Communication Engineers.
