In order to evaluate the goodness of frequency hopping (FH) sequence design, the periodic Hamming correlation function is used as an important measure. Usually, the length of correlation window is shorter than the period of the chosen FH sequence, so the study of the partial Hamming correlation of FH sequence is particularly important. In this paper, we first prove that there does not exist a strictly optimal FH sequence set of family size M and length N over a frequency slot set of size q with respect to the partial Hamming correlation bound when N > q 2 over M and q ≥ 2. In addition, we give a construction of FH sequences with optimal partial Hamming correlation by utilizing interleaving techniques.

Call admission control (CAC) is one of the most important parts in radio resource management of CDMA networks, and it has an important effect on the quality of service (QoS). The most concern of traditional CAC strategies is to harmonize the blocking probability and dropping probability, so as to maximize the resource utility. With the development of radio network, not only resource utility is the emphasis of CAC but also fairness is becoming important. In the multimedia CDMA networks, once the high load stream traffic is admitted, it will over-use the resource greedily, which will cause the unfair use of the resource to other kinds of traffic. In this paper, we gain the accept probability of the new users by using Cobb- Douglas utility function to construct a price function, then we can get a Nash equilibrium point by using the accepting probability as the payoffs of a game. The fairness of resource utilization in different load situations is achieved by satisfying the concept of Nash equilibrium point. The analysis and simulation results show that, by using this game strategy, the fairness of resource utilization is well achieved, and it is quantified by the fairness factor of F.

In this paper, for a positive odd integer n, a new family of binary sequences with 2n +1 sequences of length 2n-1 taking three level nontrivial correlations -1 and -1±2(n+1)/2 is presented, whose correlation distribution is the same as that of the well-known Gold sequences. This family may be considered as a new class of Gold-like sequences. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.

Identification and verification of a video clip via its fingerprint find applications in broadcast monitoring, database search and transaction tracking. For broadcast monitoring,we propose a novel robust hashing algorithm for video based on the 3-D Wavelet Transform (3D-DWT). Then the watermark information and the short fingerprint using the proposed hash algorithm are combined to create the embedding information. On the base of the video hashing, a security video watermarking scheme is proposed for broadcast monitoring. Finally, the security of proposed algorithm is analyzed. Some experimental results, which prove the effectiveness of the algorithms, are presented.

In this paper, we consider the problem of blind channel estimation for single-input, single-output (SISO) system. Our main aim is to provide a new consideration in the subspace-based blind channel estimation. Instead of utilizing the noise subspace, as usually the case, we propose a new algorithm that makes use of the signal subspace signature. The new algorithm is shown to give a comparable performance with that of the noise subspace-based methods. A similar idea can be applied straightforwardly to single-input multiple-output (SIMO) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. ©2010 IEEE.

Sequences over the alphabet {1, -1, 2, -2} are called four-level sequences. Including the conventional complementary sets as special cases, the aperiodic four-level Z-complementary sets (FLZCS) with zero correlation zone (denoted by Z) are introduced, and the elementary transformations on four-level sequences and elementary operations on FLZCS are given. In particular, comparing four-level Z-complementary pairs with binary and quadriphase Z-complementary ones, the results show that the maximum zero correlation zone (denoted by Z max) of four-level and quadriphase Z-complementary pairs is generally much longer than that of binary Z-complementary ones, and that Zmax of four-level Z-complementary pairs is pretty close to that of quadriphase Z-complementary ones. It is verified that most synthesizing methods of quadriphase Z-complementary sets and their mates are also applicable to FLZCS, in addition to which, other synthesizing methods of FLZCS and their mates are provided here. ©2010 IEEE.

A compact construction for nonbinary low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes over GF(q) (q>2) using permutation polynomials (PPs) is proposed in this paper. Following the previous compact construction for binary LDPC codes using quadratic permutation polynomials (QPPs) over integer rings, a QPP whose coefficients are chosen for maximizing the girth is used for determining all the positions of nonzero elements in the parity check matrix of a regular nonbinary LDPC code. Moreover, it is proposed to use a linear permutation polynomial (LPP) over GF(q) for determining the distribution of nonzero elements of GF(q) at the nonzero positions. Computer simulation results of LDPC codes over GF(8) have shown that the propose compact construction can attain similar error correction performance with Mackay's random construction for nonbinary LDPC codes.

In this paper, we investigate the application of spherical codes in a sparse code multiple access (SCMA) system. We use spherical codes to build multidimensional mother constellations for SCMA codebooks, to lower peak to average power ratio (PAPR) as well as to improve the overall spectrum efficiency. Furthermore, we introduce four approaches to construct good spherical codes. These codes are easy and have large coding gains. We make extensions to some of these spherical codes such that they are suitable for usage in SCMA systems. The performance of the constructed codebooks are compared to known codebooks through simulations, and the numerical results show that spherical codes based codebooks can effectively improve the system performance.

In this paper, a general framework of the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transceiver design for 5G multiple access (5GMA), including both non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and sparsity code multiple access (SCMA), is developed to enhance the system throughput of next generation of communication systems. By applying generalized singular value decomposition (GSVD), MIMO channels can be decomposed into multiple single-input single-output (SISO) channels, to which the concept of NOMA and SCMA can ideally be applied. GSVD based precoding is proposed to both uplink and downlink 5GMA transmissions, and simulation results are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed schemes.

Multiple-weight (MW) optical orthogonal signature pattern code (OOSPC) was introduced by Kwong and Yang for 2-D image transmission in multicore-fiber optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) networks with multiple quality of services (QoS) requirement. In this paper, a new construction method of MWOOSPCs is proposed based on pairwise balanced designs (PBDs). In this new construction, the number of codewords is variable with the structure of PDBs. Moreover, the proposed codes have more different code weights in contrast to the MWOOSPCs proposed previously. © 2010 IEEE.
