Deep convolutional neural networks have been widely used in scene classification of remotely sensed images. In this work, we propose a robust learning method for the task that is secure against partially incorrect categorization of images. Specifically, we remove and correct errors in the labels progressively by iterative multi-view voting and entropy ranking. At each time step, we first divide the training data into disjoint parts for separate training and voting. The unanimity in the voting reveals the correctness of the labels, so that we can train a strong model with only the images with unanimous votes. In addition, we adopt entropy as an effective measure for prediction uncertainty, in order to partially recover labeling errors by ranking and selection. We empirically demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method on the WHU-RS19 dataset and the AID dataset. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Binary neural network (BNN) is widely used in speech recognition, image processing and other fields to save memory and speed up computing. However, the accuracy of the existing binarization scheme in the realistic dataset is obviously low, and the input layer uses 32-bit floating point to avoid excessive precision loss, which requires additional computing units and increases the computational burden. Therefore, it is very important to improve the input layer, save computing resources and reduce precision loss. In this paper, we propose a parallel convolution binary neural network accelerator architecture (PC-BNA). Based on our proposed BNN model, we design an efficient field programmable gate array (FPGA) based accelerator. The input of the first layer is binarized, the traditional binary convolution layer is replaced by a parallel binary convolution, and the network building blocks are improved. The experimental results show that the proposed PC-BNA has higher accuracy and better performance on CIFAR-10. The image recognition accuracy is as high as 91.4%, which is superior to the state-of-art of the BNN accelerator. Compared to the state-of-the-art BNN model, when using the same model size, the use of look-up-table (LUT) saves 9.08%, and the digital signal processor (DSP) saves 27.7%. The results suggest that it is promising for PC-BNA in future high performance mobile artificial intelligence applications. © 2022 IEEE.

Getting dense, uniform, time-series point cloud data is critical for effective rendering. However, due to the limited computational power of edge devices, existing methods cannot achieve real-time results, which affects the visual quality of the consumer experience. To effectively address this issue, this paper presents a self-supervised adversarial upsampling method for point cloud video streams called SPR-GAN. In the generator, we design the Temporal Iterative Graph module to learn local features for each frame and captures long-range spatial information using three iterations of graph convolution operations. Then the Contextual Temporal Fusion module is developed to merge information between different frames, synthesizing temporal information and enriching the dynamic feature representation of the point cloud. Meanwhile, in the discriminator, we introduce the Efficient Shape module. Through dynamic graph convolution operations and stacked learning, it significantly improves the resolution efficiency of global shape information in point clouds. The final experiments show that the proposed method exhibits high practicality and superiority. The model achieves a good result on both the D-FAUST and DeformingThing4D-Animals datasets. © 2025 IEEE.

Learning with Noisy Labels (LNL) aims to improve the model generalization when facing data with noisy labels, and existing methods generally assume that noisy labels come from known classes, called closed-set noise. However, in real-world scenarios, noisy labels from similar unknown classes, i.e., open-set noise, may occur during the training and inference stage. Such open-world noisy labels may significantly impact the performance of LNL methods. In this study, we propose a novel dual-space joint learning method to robustly handle the open-world noise. To mitigate model overfitting on closed-set and open-set noises, a dual representation space is constructed by two networks. One is a projection network that learns shared representations in the prototype space, while the other is a One-Vs-All (OVA) network that makes predictions using unique semantic representations in the class-independent space. Then, bi-level contrastive learning and consistency regularization are introduced in two spaces to enhance the detection capability for data with unknown classes. To benefit from the memorization effects across different types of samples, class-independent margin criteria are designed for sample identification, which selects clean samples, weights closed-set noise, and filters open-set noise effectively. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods and achieves an average accuracy improvement of 4.55% and an AUROC improvement of 6.17% on CIFAR80N. With the rapid development of Internet technology and the continuous explosive growth of network traffic, Traffic Engineering (TE), as a viable method for optimizing network traffic distribution and improving network performance, attracts widespread attention from both industry and academia. Software Defined Networks (SDN), which decouples the data plane and the control plane, realizes a flexible routing and improves the TE performance. Existing TE approaches in SDN mainly utilize Reinforcement Learning (RL) methods to learn the mapping relationship between network traffic and routing policies. However, due to the continuous expansion of network size and dynamic changes in traffic, the enlargement of traffic state space hinders RL from converging to the optimal routing policy, leading to a decline in network performance. To address these issues, this paper presents a TE method based on unsupervised contrastive representation and RL. This method first shrinks the original traffic state space by efficiently extracting traffic features through Contrastive Learning (CL), aiding quick convergence of RL. It then uses RL to directly learn the mapping from traffic features to traffic splitting policies. Finally, through numerous experiments on real network traffic and topology, it demonstrates that the proposed TE method can effectively achieve load balancing of network traffic under complex and volatile dynamic traffic demands, thereby enhancing network performance.

Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs), with their significant advantages of low power consumption and low latency, are a promising approach for edge computing and have attracted considerable attention in the scientific community. Multicore neuromorphic processors have been demonstrated as an effective solution for constructing large-scale SNN models. However, as the scale of these networks increases, the resource and power demands of inter-core communication escalate significantly. The inter-core arbiter represents an important component of the Power-Performance-Area (PPA) bottleneck. Compared to synchronous circuits, asynchronous circuits feature lower power consumption and enhanced robustness, making them more suitable for inter-core communication. We propose an asynchronous Quasi-Delay Insensitive (QDI) arbitration circuit based on hybrid encoding method and the NCL_X pipeline architecture, achieving a 22% improvement in speed and a 23% reduction in power consumption.

With the widespread use of escalators in daily life, escalator-related injury factors are threatening public health. To secure escalator system, most of existing studies focus on post hoc statistics and trend to fix these deficiencies to reduce escalator-related potential risks. However, they are not designed for early-stage detection of impending escalator unsafe factors. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an improved Single Shot MultiBox Detector (SSD) algorithm for anomaly detection of passenger posture on escalators. Firstly, we replace the widely used VGG16 backbone of SSD network by simpler MobileNetV2 to accelerate model inference. Secondly, the distance intersection over Union (DIoU) loss function is introduced to further improve performance. Based on the characteristics of IoU and considering the shortcomings of GIoU, DIoU directly regresses the Euclidean distance between the center points of the two boxes to accelerate the convergence. The experimental results show that the improved SSD escalator passenger posture anomaly detection algorithm can efficiently identify the dangerous posture of escalator passengers and start relevant safety protection measures. According to inference of model, the escalator system can be controlled in practice to formulate the corresponding safety protection measures, and improve the safety performance of the escalator operation. © 2022 IEEE.
