Semantic knowledge transfer for semi-supervised medical image segmentation

In semi-supervised medical image segmentation, due to possible differences in information content and distribution between labeled and unlabeled data, dealing with the two separately usually prevents knowledge transfer from labeled to unlabeled data. This prevents the model from effectively sharing learned information between the two types of data. To alleviate this problem, we train labeled and unlabeled data as a whole. Semantic mixing of labeled and unlabeled data is achieved by selecting and exchanging some of the region images of both through a mask to generate complementary input views. In addition, due to the limited labeled data, the unlabeled data has a weak ability to distinguish categories in the feature space. Traditional methods rely on pixel positions to generate positive and negative samples for contrastive learning to solve this problem, but relying on pixel position sampling can easily lead to semantic inconsistency, which affects the effect of feature learning; therefore, to address this problem, we propose an innovative labeled data-guided inter-class contrastive learning strategy, which extracts the category features from labeled and unlabeled data and exploits the accurate category information in the labeled data to guide contrastive learning, while introducing a similarity-based ranking weighting mechanism. Combining the two designs, we propose a new semantic knowledge transfer framework for semi-supervised medical image segmentation. Experiments demonstrate a significant improvement in our model compared to State of the Art (SOTA) on the Automatic Cardiac Diagnosis Challenge (ACDC) dataset and the Left Atrium (LA) dataset.

As a novel network paradigm, Software Defined Networking (SDN) decouples control logic functions from data forwarding devices, and introduces a separate control plane to manipulate underlying switches via southbound interfaces like OpenFlow. However, it leads to large-scale flow tables and poses serious challenges on their storage resources and lookup performance in OpenFlow switches. This paper is thus motivated to propose an efficient differentiated storage architecture for large-scale flow tables in OpenFlow networks. Firstly, we investigate into the impact of wildcards in match fields on packet-in-batch property within a flow based on network traffic locality. Then, packet flows are dynamically distinguished into active ones and idle ones in terms of their short-term states. Subsequently, we store the match fields of active flows and idle flows respectively in TCAM and SRAM, and the content fields of both types of flows in DRAM, to effectively relieve the insufficiency of TCAM capacity. Finally, we evaluate the performance of our proposed flow table storage architecture with real network traffic traces by experiments. The experimental results indicate that our proposed storage architecture obviously outperforms the traditional one applying the elephant/mice flow differentiation method in terms of TCAM hit rates and average flow table access time. © 2019 IEEE.

Numerical analysis were performed to study venting explosion load of methane-air in vented chamber. The effects of venting pressure and ignition location on indoor gas explosion overpressure are discussed. The simulation results showed the expected trends are agreed with the experiments in some extent. Several peaks in overpressure were identified along the pressure–time curves. There are two typical peak overpressures in our study. The first peak is due to the vent failure. The second is caused by the external explosion. It’s not a monotonic relationship between the peak overpressure and venting explosion pressure. The influence of the venting pressure on the explosion overpressure is irregular when the venting pressure is less than 10 kPa. Then the explosion overpressure increases with the increase of the venting pressure. The results show that, the maximum peak value of overpressure is shear ignition. But the local overpressure on the pressure relief wall is stronger due to turbulence in central ignition case. Explosion venting process couples the turbulent flow and chemical reaction of combustible medium which is influenced by several parameters. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

The envisioned sixth-generation (6G) of wireless networks will involve an intelligent integration of communications and computing, thereby meeting the urgent demands of diverse applications. To realize the concept of the smart radio environment, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) are a promising technology for offering programmable propagation of impinging electromagnetic signals via external control. However, the purely reflective nature of conventional RISs induces significant challenges in supporting computation-based applications, e.g., wave-based calculation and signal processing. To fulfil future communication and computing requirements, new materials are needed to complement the existing technologies of metasurfaces, enabling further diversification of electronics and their applications. In this event, we introduce the concept of reconfigurable intelligent computational surface (RICS), which is composed of two reconfigurable multifunctional layers: the ‘reconfigurable beamforming layer’ which is responsible for tunable signal reflection, absorption, and refraction, and the ‘intelligence computation layer’ that concentrates on metamaterials-based computing. By exploring the recent trends on computational metamaterials, RICSs have the potential to make joint communication and computation a reality. We further demonstrate two typical applications of RICSs for performing wireless spectrum sensing and secrecy signal processing. Future research challenges arising from the design and operation of RICSs are finally highlighted. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the rapid development of CNN(convolutional neural networks), the traditional CPU platform can not make full use of the parallelism of CNN. We decide to adopt a new and popular processor architecture: the risc-v architecture for experimental design. In this paper, a new convolutional neural network processor is designed based on risc-v architecture. The processor can take advantage of the parallelism of CNN and is more flexible. This paper completely designed a CNN processor based on the risc-v architecture. The processor uses a classic five-stage pipeline structure, and implements instruction buffer memory and data buffer memory, and adds peripherals such as FLASH, SRAM, and SDRAM. And, this paper designed custom instructions. Given the convolution operation frequently occurring in CNN, vector store instruction, vector load instruction, vector addition instruction, and convolution operation instruction are designed to accelerate the execution of the convolution process. The design has passed the simulation experiment. It can not only complete the general instructions but also run the custom instructions. The final simulation test verified the correctness of the design. © 2019 IEEE.

The fairness of secret sharing guarantees that, if either participant obtains the secret, other participants obtain too. The fairness can be threatened by cheaters who was hidden in the participants. To efficiently and accurately identify cheaters with guaranteeing fairness, this paper proposes a fair (t, n)-threshold secret sharing scheme with an efficient cheater identifying ability. The scheme consists of three protocols which correspond to the secret distribution phase, secret reconstruction phase, and cheater identification phase respectively. The scheme’s secret distribution strategy enables the secret reconstruction protocol to detect the occurrence of cheating and trigger the execution of the cheater identification protocol to accurately locate cheaters. Moreover, we prove that the scheme is fair and secure, and show that the cheater identification algorithm has higher efficiency by comparing with other schemes. © IFIP International Federation for information processing 2019.

This paper proposes a method to construct a stage scene systematically. We propose how to build key algorithms for each element of the stage based on this method. The scene generation model is constructed to generate the creative stage scene we need based on the combination of these algorithms. We will start with 3D model adversarial generation, style migration generation, scene construction layout, scheme evaluation and scheme selection and so on. Then we will elaborate GANs algorithm, style transfer network, spatial combination and other algorithms. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

White blood cell (WBC, leukocyte) in blood smear image plays a crucial role in the diagnosis of many blood diseases. WBC segmentation is an important preprocessing step in blood disease diagnosis. However, due to some factors such as different dying technologies and different WBC appearances, WBC segmentation is still challenging. To improve accuracy of WBC segmentation, we propose an end-to-end WBC segmentation network. Specifically, we first introduce Dual Path Network (DPN) as a context-aware feature encoder to extract multi-scale image features. Then, we use a channel attention module to capture the interdependencies between channel maps, and further enhance feature representation capability of the proposed network. Finally, we reconstruct WBC feature maps by a feature decoder, and use skip connections to reduce image information loss. Experimental results on three datasets show that the proposed method obtains higher segmentation accuracy than the other methods.

Multispectral Pan-sharpening via Dual-Channel Convolutional Network with Convolutional LSTM Based Hierarchical Spatial-Spectral Feature Fusion

Multispectral pan-sharpening aims at producing a high resolution (HR) multispectral (MS) image in both spatial and spectral domains by fusing a panchromatic (PAN) image and a corresponding MS image. In this paper, we propose a novel dual-channel network (DCNet) framework for MS pan-sharpening. In our DCNet, the dual-channel backbone involves a spatial channel to capture spatial information with a 2D CNN, and a spectral channel to extract spectral information with a 3D CNN. This heterogeneous 2D/3D CNN architecture can minimize causing spectral information distortion, which typically happens in conventional 2D CNN models. In order to fully integrate the spatial and spectral features captured from different levels, we introduce a multi-level fusion strategy. Specifically, a spatial-spectral CLSTM (S2-CLSTM) module is proposed for fusing the hierarchical spatial and spectral features, which can effectively capture correlations among multi-level features. The S2-CLSTM module attaches two fusion ways: the intra-level fusion via bi-directional lateral connections and inter-level fusion via the cell state in the S2-CLSTM. Finally, the ideal HR-MS image is recovered by a reconstruction module. Extensive experiments have been conducted at both simulated lower scale and the original scale of real-world datasets. Compared with the state-of-the-art methods, the proposed DCNet achieves superior or competitive performance. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A large number of Mongolian books and documents need to be stored and processed by computer. Optical Character Recognition(OCR) can convert a scanned document into text. However, the existing Mongolian OCR systems are realized by a glyph segmentation scheme. However, the glyph segmentation is much more difficult for several fonts. In this study, a segmentation-free approach based on end-to-end model is proposed for traditional Mongolian word recognition. In particular, the proposed model can extract features directly from the input word images and generate the corresponding recognition results(i.e. a sequence of letters). Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed end-to-end model outperforms the segmentation-based method. Moreover, the proposed model can solve the problem of out-of-vocabulary as well.
