Due to the exceptional performance of Transform-ers in 2D medical image segmentation, recent work has also introduced them into 3D medical segmentation tasks. For instance, Swin UNETR and other hierarchical Transformers have reintroduced prior knowledge from several convolutional networks, further enhancing the volume segmentation capabilities of models. The efficacy of these hybrid methodologies is primarily attributed to the substantial quantity of parameters and the nonlocal self-attention mechanism with a large receptive field. We argue that the behavior of these methods' large receptive fields can be simulated by employing fewer parameters through the utilization of depth-wise convolutions with large kernel. Within this manuscript, we introduce a lightweight volume segmentation model called MedX-Net, which uses convolutional network modules to simulate hierarchical Transformers for robust volume segmentation. Firstly, inspired by the hierarchical Transformer module of Swin UNETR, we investigate large-kernel depth-wise convolutions with different sizes to achieve a reduced model parameter count while maintaining a large global receptive field. Secondly, we replace the multilayer perceptron (MLP) in the hierarchical Transformer module with Inverted Bottleneck with Depthwise Convolution Enhancement(DWCE) to improve model performance with fewer activation and normalization layers, further reducing the parameter count. We validate the effectiveness and efficiency of our model for volume segmentation on three public datasets: Synapse, BTCV and ACDC. On the Synapse dataset, compared to Swin UNETR, our model achieves an improvement from 83.48% to 87.21% in Dice score. Compared to the result of 86.57% achieved by nnFormer, our model achieves superior performance while reducing the model parameter count by 64%. © 2024 IEEE.

Knowledge graphs (KGs) serve as critical structured representations of the real world, modeling entities and their complex relational patterns. While traditional knowledge graph embedding (KGE) methods excel at capturing structural regularities through geometric or tensor operations, they have limitations in effectively integrating structural and textual information. To address this limitation, we propose TSKE, a novel dual-branch architecture that effectively integrates both textual and structural information. The text branch employs language models to encode textual descriptions, generating context-aware semantic representations. Simultaneously, the structure branch introduces a multi-scale dilated attention mechanism that captures local neighborhood patterns and global graph dependencies through hierarchical receptive fields. The efficient channel attention further enhances feature selectivity by adaptively filtering noise and emphasizing feature relevance. TSKE incorporates an adaptive fusion module that dynamically adjusts the contribution weights of textual and structural features. Disentangling Heterogeneous Knowledge Concept Embedding for Cognitive Diagnosis on Untested Knowledge

Cognitive diagnosis is a fundamental and critical task in learning assessment, which aims to infer students’ proficiency on knowledge concepts from their response logs. Current works assume each knowledge concept will certainly be tested and covered by multiple exercises. However, whether online or offline courses, it’s hardly feasible to completely cover all knowledge concepts in several exercises. Restricted tests lead to undiscovered knowledge deficits, especially untested knowledge concepts(UKCs). In this paper, we propose a novel framework for Cognitive Diagnosis called Disentangling Heterogeneous Knowledge Cognitive Diagnosis(DisKCD) on untested knowledge. Specifically, we leverage course grades, exercise questions, and learning resources to learn the potential representations of students, exercises, and knowledge concepts. In particular, knowledge concepts are disentangled into tested and untested based on the limiting actual exercises. We construct a heterogeneous relation graph network via students, exercises, tested knowledge concepts(TKCs), and UKCs. Then, through a hierarchical heterogeneous message-passing mechanism, the fine-grained relations are incorporated into the embeddings of the entities. Finally, the embeddings will be applied to multiple existing cognitive diagnosis models to infer students’ proficiency on UKCs. Experimental results on real-world datasets show that the proposed model can effectively improve the performance of the task of diagnosing students’ proficiency on UKCs. Road crack detection is of great significance for maintaining road quality, improving road safety, optimizing resource allocation and protecting environment. Aiming at the problems of low recognition accuracy, high false detection rate and false detection rate of existing road crack detection, an improved road crack detection algorithm YOLOv8-YP based on YOLOv8 is proposed. Firstly, the attention mechanism GAM is introduced into the backbone network and neck network to enhance the ability of extracting features of different scales from fracture images. Secondly, SPDConv is used to replace Conv in the backbone network to improve the recognition rate of slender and tiny cracks in the backbone network. Finally, DIoU function is used to optimize the bounding box loss of the network, so that the network can converge quickly and provide finer detection results. The experimental results show that the improved algorithm model YOLOv8-YP and the original algorithm YOLOv8n are improved by 2.2% and 2.3% in mAP @ 0.5 and mAP @ 0.5: 0.95, respectively. The improved algorithm YOLOv8-YP has better detection effect on road cracks, and can identify and locate road cracks quickly and accurately. © 2023 IEEE.

Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) is the standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). With the development of artificial intelligence, an increasing number of studies have begun to explore its application in cancer treatment prediction. However, the prior methods exhibit considerable variability even with slight modifications to the input data, which could potentially undermine the reliability of the results. In this paper, we proposed RP-Net, a novel multi-modal fusion-based framework that combines feature information from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and whole slide images (WSI), establishing a relationship to map the therapeutic effectiveness of nCRT for LARC. We investigated the relationship of the tumour region and its periphery tissues, and demonstrated the validity of the proposed framework that involving 11 different combinations of modalities. The experimental results revealed that it has achieved higher prediction accuracy compared to the four intra-categories single-modal combinations and outperformed the two intra-categories multi-modal combinations. When compared to the other four inter-categories multi-modal combinations, the fusion features get accuracy of 2% ∼ 6% improvement respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

UNet and its variants have widespread applications in medical image segmentation. However, the substantial number of parameters and computational complexity of these models make them less suitable for use in clinical settings with limited computational resources. To address this limitation, we propose a novel Lightweight Shift U-Net (LSU-Net). We integrate the Light Conv Block and the Tokenized Shift Block in a lightweight manner, combining them with a dynamic weight multi-loss design for efficient dynamic weight allocation. The Light Conv Block effectively captures features with a low parameter count by combining standard convolutions with depthwise separable convolutions. The Tokenized Shift Block optimizes feature representation by shifting and capturing deep features through a combination of the Spatial Shift Block and depthwise separable convolutions. Dynamic adjustment of the loss weights at each layer approaches the optimal solution and enhances training stability. We validated LSU-Net on the UWMGI and MSD Colon datasets, and experimental results demonstrate that LSU-Net outperforms most state-of-the-art segmentation architectures.

Due to over-abundant information on the Web, information filtering becomes a key task for online users to obtain relevant suggestions and how to extract the most related item is always a key topic for researchers in various fields. In this paper, we adopt tools used to analyze complex networks to evaluate user reputation and item quality. In our proposed Accumulative Time Based Ranking (ATR) algorithm, we take into account the growth record of the network to identify the evolution of the reputation of users and the quality of items, by incorporating two behavior weighting factors which can capture the hidden facts on reputation and quality dynamics for each user and item respectively. Our proposed ATR algorithm mainly combines the iterative approach to rank user reputation and item quality with temporal dependence compared with other reputation evaluation methods. We show that our algorithm outperforms other benchmark ranking algorithms in terms of precision and robustness on empirical datasets from various online retailers and the citation datasets among research publications. Therefore, our proposed method has the capability to effectively evaluate user reputation and item quality.

Multi-hop Knowledge Reasoning is a task that involves generating an answer given a query and a knowledge graph. Existing sequence-to-sequence reasoning models use the Transformer to encode and decode sequences, but these models have some flaws, such as the inability to effectively handle long-sequence reasoning and susceptibility to exposure bias. To address these issues, we provides a sequence-to-sequence reasoning model named STSR, which is based on Retentive Network. Aiming at improving training efficiency through parallel training, this model leverages the advantages in Retentive Network, reduce time overhead, and enhance reasoning efficiency through iterative reasoning. It effectively mitigates the problems of high spatial overhead and low efficiency in long-sequence reasoning faced by the Transformer. Moreover, it retains and updates historical information during the encoding and decoding process, enhancing the model's memory and generalization capabilities. Additionally, the Scheduled Sampling method is adopted to alleviate the exposure bias introduced during reasoning, which involves using the model's own output as the input for the next moment with a certain probability during training, instead of using the true label. We conduct the experiment on six public datasets, with the results showing that the proposed model outperforms existing baseline models in terms of precision and generation quality. This paper provides a new solution for the task of sequence-to-sequence multihop knowledge reasoning and also demonstrates the potential application of the Retentive Network in natural language processing. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we introduce and analyze two Mann-type implicit inertial sub-gradient extragradient algorithms for solving the monotone bilevel equilibrium problem with a general system of variational inclusions and a common fixed-point problem of a finite family of strict pseudocontraction mappings and an asymptotically nonexpansive mapping constraints.
