Yb3+, Er3+ Ions Co-Doped Double Molybdate/Tungstate Composite Laser Crystals for Promising 1.5 Μm Solid State Lasers

A series of 10 at% Yb3+, 5 at% Er3+ doped NaGd(MoxW1-xO4)2 (x = 0.5, 0.7, and 0.9) single crystals were grown by Czochralski method. The structure of the crystals was determined to be a tetragonal system with space group of I41/a, as confirmed through X-ray diffraction (XRD), Rietveld refinement and FT-IR analyses. In addition, the 1.5 μm spectral properties of the crystals were investigated, including emission, absorption and fluorescence decay characteristics. Importantly, the influence of crystal composition on the spectroscopic properties was revealed deeply. As the crystal composition changes, a significant inhomogeneous broadening of the spectral and remarkable changes in energy band Eg were observed. A maximum full width at half-maximum (FWHM) at 1535 nm was obtained to be 83 nm in (MoO4)1.0(WO4)1.0 composition crystal. However, the maximum absorption and emission cross-sections were achieved in (MoO4)1.4(WO4)0.6 component crystal with values of 1.15 × 10-20 cm2 and 1.05 × 10-20 cm2, respectively. Besides, for (MoO4)1.4(WO4)0.6 composition crystal, a positive gain cross-section is obtained at around 1535 nm for a population inversion ratio β above 0.4. The results show that double molybdate/tungstate composite crystals co-doping with Yb3+ and Er3+ are promising for 1.5 μm near-infrared lasers. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Ontology is a kernel technique of the semantic web, which defines concepts, properties, and their relationships to establish a shared understanding of domain knowledge. Ontology matching identifies semantically similar entities across different ontologies, which uses similarity features to measure their similarity from different perspectives. However, due to the complexity of the entity heterogeneity, no single similarity feature is universally effective. In recent years, genetic algorithms have proven effective in constructing similarity features for ontology matching, but their potential is limited by the reliance on default classification strategies, empirical determination of the number of high-level features, the requirement for manually selecting, combining these features, and tuning the associated combination parameters. To overcome these drawbacks, we propose a multi-layer hybrid genetic programming approach to automatically construct high-level similarity features. This approach includes three novel components. First, a new multi-layer individual representation is designed, which faciliates the algorithm to adaptively explore the search space of constructing high-level similarity features. Second, to enhance the search effectiveness, a new initialization method and a mutation operator are developed, which use a weight-based strategy to adaptively select and construct a more diverse set of similarity features. Third, a compact genetic algorithm-based optimizer is designed to refine the tree structures of elite individuals. The experimental results on the ontology alignment evaluation initiative's benchmark show that our algorithm can generate high-quality ontology matching results across various matching tasks, significantly outperforming the state-of-the-art ontology matching methods. © 2025 IEEE.

The real-time tracking of moving objects by social robots is crucial for ensuring object-oriented services. This paper presents a real-time following algorithm for mobile robots based on deep vision object detection. Firstly, using a binocular depth vision camera, real-time target information from a firstperson perspective is collected, and a lightweight deep learning model is employed to detect the relative position of the human body posture with respect to the social robot. Subsequently, to address the issue of unsmooth trajectory during the tracking process, a dual-axis PID algorithm is developed for cooperative control of the robot’s speed and heading angle. Given the inherent randomness in human body movement, target loss can occur during tracking. To enhance the algorithm’s robustness, a dynamic tracking mechanism is introduced. Finally, we implement a vision-driven two-wheel differential social robot following algorithm on the ROS system and validate it through three real-world experimental scenarios. The mean values of the target acquisition rate, tracked target position, and angle smoothness are found to be 0.81, 0.46, and 1.02, respectively.

Dynamic Vision Sensors (DVS) have recently generated great interest because of the advantages of wide dynamic range and low latency compared with conventional frame-based cameras. However, the complicated behaviors in dim light conditions are still not clear, restricting the applications of DVS. In this paper, we analyze the typical DVS circuit, and find that there exists discontinuity of event triggering time. In dim light conditions, the discontinuity becomes prominent. We point out that the discontinuity depends exclusively on the changing speed of light intensity. Experimental results on real event data validate the analysis and the existence of discontinuity that reveals the non-first-order behaviors of DVS in dim light conditions. © 2024, CC BY.

Solid precipitation is not only the main supply for glacier mass,but also exerts an important influence on surface albedo and intensifies glacier ***,precipitation type observation is very scarce in the high alpine glaciers,which limits the precise simulation of glacier mass *** study assessed three discrimination methods of precipitation types including Ding method,Dai method and Froidurot method based on surface albedo observation data on the Laohugou Glacier No.12(LHG Glacier)in western Qilian *** results showed that Ding method had a best applicability on the LHG Glacier,the other two need to calibrate parameters when they are used in the high elevation glacier *** we fitted the relationship between snowfall probability and fresh snow albedo,and put forward a revised formula to simulate fresh snow albedo based on Ding method,which is expected to reduce the uncertainty in glacier mass and energy balance ***,we found a best air temperature threshold of 4℃for discriminating monthly precipitation *** order to accurately simulate the glacier melt,it is necessary to obtain the threshold temperature appropriately in different glacier region with different elevation and humidity.

The prefabricated components can be connected to form buildings in prefabricated building based on the design drawings. The production of components in the factory is not standardized and accurate, which leads to difficulty in connecting prefabricated components and low efficiency in construction. Excessive construction materials are piled up on the construction site and these wastes have caused a lot of pollution to the environment. Study proposes to integrating Building Information Modelling (BIM) and 3D printing for prefabricated buildings. Triangulation of BIM models is discussed. Prefabricated components information is extracted by Industry Foundation Class (IFC) files so that BIM can provide prefabricated component models. Additionally, the conversion relationship between BIM and 3D printing is established. Thirdly, the conversion rules and methods for converting BIM data into STL files are developed so that the 3D printer can print the prefabricated components according to the corresponding path. Finally, testing the data format conversion on BIM models shows that our presented approach enables us to convert a BIM model into a data format recognizable for 3D printing. Applying BIM and 3D print in prefabricated buildings will boost the fineness of components and the efficiency of construction and have good performance in decreasing engineering waste.

Thermal-aware routing protocols in WBANs consider temperature factors in the routing process for preventing overheating of the tissues surrounding the sensor ***,providing an energy-efficient and thermal-aware routing in WBANs is a challenging *** deal with this problem,this article presents a novel temperature-aware routing protocol that applies Mamdani-based Fuzzy Logic Controllers(FLCs)for selecting the next forwarding node in routing data *** FLCs apply five important input factors such as the priority of the packet,and sensor node's remaining energy,temperature,distance,and link path ***,a new hybrid version of the Marine Predator Algorithm(MPA),named MPAOA is presented by combining the exploration and exploitation phases of the MPA and Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm(AOA).This algorithm is effectively applied for selecting the best possible set of fuzzy rules for FLCs and tuning their fuzzy *** experiments conducted in the Castalia simulator exhibit that the proposed temperature and priority-aware routing scheme can outperform other well-known routing schemes such as LATOR,TTRP,TAEO,ATAR,and EOCC-TARA in terms of metrics such as sensor nodes lifetime,the average temperature of the sensor nodes,and the percentage of the packets routed through non-overheated ***,it is shown that the MPAOA outperforms other algorithms such as Bat Algorithm(BA),Genetic Algorithm(GA),AOA,and MPA regarding the specified metrics.

Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas that is extremely dangerous. Carbon monoxide cannot be accurately detected or eliminated by the senses in high concentrations in the body under relatively airtight conditions. As a result, the human body can only inhale it passively. Carbon monoxide inhalation can deplete the body's oxygen supply, causing symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, headaches, and, in severe cases, death. In response to the event's insidiousness, urgency, and gravity. Simultaneously, because the current carbon monoxide monitoring system is not portable, it is proposed to design a microcontroller as the core, with a concentration collection module, a wireless transmission module, an LCD module, and so on. Interact with information between intelligent monitoring systems via wireless transmission module and mobile phone APP. The system consists of a microcontroller, concentration acquisition module, wireless transmission module, and LCD display module. And the performance of the system is tested by changing the environmental conditions, while a control test is conducted. The results show that the system has a fast and stable transmission rate, small size, and wireless monitoring function. Users can be informed of environmental conditions via their mobile phones, providing early warning and quick alarms.
