The task of crime prediction is to predict the charges of a case based on the given description of the case, which has become a research hot spot. Most of the existing methods use neural networks and machine learning algorithms to predict. The prediction results have high accuracy, but the prediction results are often not well interpretable. In addition, some early traditional methods can explain the prediction results, but their accuracy is often very low. Formal concept analysis is an effective data extraction tool. Therefore, this paper combines formal concept analysis with neural network to improve the accuracy of the algorithm. The experimental results show that our method has higher prediction results and can better explain the prediction results than the original neural network model. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Graph Attention Network (GAT) is a popular method for graph embedding as they effectively leverage attention mechanisms to aggregate first-order neighborhood node information. However, they have limitations in their ability to consider high-order neighborhood nodes and structural information. Directly incorporating high-order neighborhood node information into traditional GAT may result in over-smoothing. To address this challenge, in this paper, we propose a joint attention graph embedding model based on similar networks and structural correlation. secondly, we introduce the concept of structural correlation to the original graph attentional method, and consider not only node content feature but also joint node topological structure feature when calculating the attention score. Finally, the graph attention mechanism module performs feature extraction to generate embedding representations of the nodes. The proposed algorithm achieved an accuracy of 85.7%, 74.30%, and 84.10% on the Cora, Citeseer, and Pubmed datasets respectively in node classification tasks. This represents an improvement of 2.70%, 3.94%, and 2.60% respectively compared to the traditional graph attention model. It can be seen that the proposed method can obtain a better representation of node embedding. © 2023 IEEE.

A power system’s optimization under economic planning concerns scheduling sectors as a challenging reality task with its characteristics with non-convex, high-dimensional, nonlinear problems. This study introduces an optimal power system environmental and economic scheduling based on a multi-moth-flame optimizer (MMFO). A multi-objective programming mathematical model uses the Pareto optimal frontier to obtain the Pareto non-inferiority optimal solution, generate the optimal configuration scheme, and search for the optimal global solution in the feasible region. Calculation results of a power system with IEEE test case of 15 and 40 generator sets demonstrate the high convergence and strong adaptability of the algorithm suggested in addressing the environmental-economic dispatch of the power system. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Identifying cancer genes is crucial for treatment and understanding pathogenesis. Recent methods typically leverage protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks or gene functional association data from annotated gene sets. There may be some shared neighborhood structure information between these two types of gene association data. While this common information may contain more accurate gene association information, existing methods often overlook this potential. To address this gap, we introduce DISFusion, which integrates multi-omics cancer data, PPI networks, and gene functional associations to identify cancer genes. A key innovation of DISFusion is the cross-view decorrelation loss, which enhances the common information between PPI networks and gene functional associations, thereby improving prediction accuracy. Extensive experiments indicate that DISFusion outperforms state-of-the-art methods and exhibits greater generalization ability. Moreover, analysis of CPTAC pan-cancer proteomic data highlights significant associations between the 30 novel cancer genes predicted by DISFusion and multiple cancer types, underscoring its practical utility. These findings validate the effectiveness of enhancing common information and provide new insights into cancer gene identification. © 2025, Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (***). Sara: Controllable Makeup Transfer with Semantic-Guided Alignment and Region-Adaptive Normalization

Makeup transfer is a process of transferring the makeup style from a reference image to the source image, while preserving the source image's identity. In addition to achieving fine-grained control over the makeup transfer, incorporating semantic alignment into the transformation is crucial, as the poses of the reference and source images are often inconsistent. We propose a novel Semantic-guided Alignment and Region-Adaptive normalization framework (SARA) to effectively transfer makeup styles under misaligned poses, offering flexible control to meet the demands of real-world applications, such as partial transfer, intensity adjustment, and makeup removal. Specifically, SARA comprises three modules: Firstly, we propose a semantic-guided alignment module to explicitly construct dense correspondence between the reference image and the target semantic map, employing unbalanced optimal transport matching to handle semantic region mismatches. Secondly, a region-adaptive normalization module is responsible for dynamically combining the warped style features with shape-independent style codes obtained by region-wise average pooling, mitigating feature loss during the alignment. Lastly, a makeup fusion module progressively fuses the identity features with the makeup styles to render the final output image. Furthermore, we combine optimal transport with histogram matching to generate the pseudo ground truth, which is used to facilitate the transfer in terms of both spatial alignment and color distribution. Experimental results show that our proposed SARA outperforms existing methods on two public datasets. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Are Large Language Models Really Good Logical Reasoners? A Comprehensive Evaluation and Beyond

Logical reasoning consistently plays a fundamental and significant role in the domains of knowledge engineering and artificial intelligence. Recently, Large Language Models (LLMs) have emerged as a noteworthy innovation in natural language processing (NLP). However, the question of whether LLMs can effectively address the task of logical reasoning, which requires gradual cognitive inference similar to human intelligence, remains unanswered. To this end, we aim to bridge this gap and provide comprehensive evaluations in this paper. Firstly, to offer systematic evaluations, we select fifteen typical logical reasoning datasets and organize them into deductive, inductive, abductive and mixed-form reasoning settings. Considering the comprehensiveness of evaluations, we include 3 early-era representative LLMs and 4 trending LLMs. Secondly, different from previous evaluations relying only on simple metrics (e.g., accuracy), we propose fine-level evaluations in objective and subjective manners, covering both answers and explanations, including answer correctness, explain correctness, explain completeness and explain redundancy. Additionally, to uncover the logical flaws of LLMs, problematic cases will be attributed to five error types from two dimensions, i.e., evidence selection process and reasoning process. Thirdly, to avoid the influences of knowledge bias and concentrate purely on benchmarking the logical reasoning capability of LLMs, we propose a new dataset with neutral content. Based on the in-depth evaluations, this paper finally forms a general evaluation scheme of logical reasoning capability from six dimensions (i.e., Correct, Rigorous, Self-aware, Active, Oriented and No hallucination). With the rapid development of the Internet and communication technology, palette images have become a preferred media for steganography. However, the security of palette image steganography faces a big problem. To address this, we propose a multiple-level additive distortion method for security improvement in palette image steganography. The proposed multiple-level additive distortion method comprises an index-level cost method and a pixel-level cost method. The index-level and the pixel-level costs by the two methods can respectively reflect the relationship changes of adjacent indices and the pixels corresponding to the adjacent indices. Meanwhile, the index-level and the pixel-level costs can also reflect the modification impact of steganography. Therefore, the proposed method can improve the security of palette image steganography. We conducted extensive experiments on three datasets to verify the security improvement. Experiment results have shown our proposed multiple-level distortion method indeed has an advantage in security when compared with four state-of-the-art methods. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.

Speech enhancement plays an essential role in various applications, and the integration of visual information has been demonstrated to bring substantial advantages. However, the majority of current research concentrates on the examination of facial and lip movements, which can be compromised or entirely inaccessible in scenarios where occlusions occur or when the camera view is distant. Whereas contextual visual cues from the surrounding environment have been overlooked: for example, when we see a dog bark, our brain has the innate ability to discern and filter out the barking noise. To this end, in this paper, we introduce a novel task, i.e. Scene-aware Audio-Visual Speech Enhancement SAV-SE. To our best knowledge, this is the first proposal to use rich contextual information from synchronized video as auxiliary cues to indicate the type of noise, which eventually improves the speech enhancement performance. Specifically, we propose the VC-S $^{2}$ E method, which incorporates the Conformer and Mamba modules for their complementary strengths. Extensive experiments are conducted on public MUSIC, AVSpeech and AudioSet datasets, where the results demonstrate the superiority of VC-S $^{2}$ E over other competitive methods. Federated Graph Learning (FGL) has garnered widespread attention by enabling collaborative training on multiple clients for semi-supervised classification tasks. However, most existing FGL studies do not well consider the missing inter-client topology information in real-world scenarios, causing insufficient feature aggregation of multi-hop neighbor clients during model training. Moreover, the classic FGL commonly adopts the FedAvg but neglects the high training costs when the number of clients expands, resulting in the overload of a single edge server. To address these important challenges, we propose a novel FGL framework, named SpreadFGL, to promote the information flow in edge-client collaboration and extract more generalized potential relationships between clients. In SpreadFGL, an adaptive graph imputation generator incorporated with a versatile assessor is first designed to exploit the potential links between subgraphs, without sharing raw data. Next, a new negative sampling mechanism is developed to make SpreadFGL concentrate on more refined information in downstream tasks. To facilitate load balancing at the edge layer, SpreadFGL follows a distributed training manner that enables fast model convergence. Using real-world testbed and benchmark graph datasets, extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SpreadFGL. The results show that SpreadFGL achieves higher accuracy and faster convergence against state-of-the-art algorithms.

Visualization Study on the Dynamic Behavior of Shear Thinning Droplets Impacting Superhydrophobic Spheres

The surface characteristics and droplet characteristics significantly affect the dynamic behavior of droplet impact on solid surfaces. A visualization platform is utilized in this work to experimentally study the dynamic behavior of shear thinning fluid droplets impacting superhydrophobic spheres. By calculating the diffusion arc angle and diffusion coefficient corresponding to the two-dimensional wetting arc in the maximum diffusion state, the effects of different concentrations, We numbers, particle size ratios on droplets impact are studied. The results show that on the superhydrophobic sphere, as the shear thinning droplet concentration increases, the diffusion diameter increases, and the contact time decreases. Under the same curvature, the contact time between the droplet and the sphere decreases with the increase of We number. After the We number reaches a specific value, the contact time remains unchanged with the increase of We number. Then under different curvature conditions, the contact time increases with the increase of curvature. When the diameter ratio of the sphere to the droplet is D*≥6, the maximum diffusion coefficient remains almost unchanged. However, when D*＜6, the maximum diffusion dimensionless diameter significantly increases as the particle size ratio decreases. Importantly, a theoretical model considering gravity effect is established to predict the maximum dimensionless diameter of shear thinning droplets on superhydrophobic spheres on the basis of energy conservation. The deviation between the maximum dimensionless diameter obtained by this theoretical model and the experimental results is within ± 10%. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
