In many neuroscience and clinical studies, accurate and automatic segmentation of subcortical structures is an important and difficult task. Multi-atlas-based segmentation method has been focus of considerable research due to its promising performance. In general, this technique first employs deformable image registration to construct the correspondences between pre-labeled atlas images and the target image. Then, using the acquired deformation field, labels in the atlas are propagated to the target image space. Obviously, anatomical differences between the target image and atlas images possibly affect the image registration accuracy, thus influencing the final segmentation performance. Another limitation is that the label propagation in most conventional multi-atlas based methods is implemented under a voxel-wise strategy, which cannot adequately utilize the local label information to determine the final label of the target sample. In this paper, we propose a patch-wise label propagation method based on multiple atlases for MR brain segmentation. First, each image patch is characterized by patch intensities and abundant texture features, to increase the accuracy of the patch-based similarity measurement. To determine the weights of the training patches for representing the test sample, a patch-based sparse coding procedure is employed. In the label propagation stage, to alleviate possible misalignment from the registration stage, we perform a patch-wise label propagation strategy in a nonlocal manner to predict the final label for each target sample. To evaluate the proposed segmentation method, we comprehensively implement our proposed method by conducting hippocampus segmentation on the ADNI data set. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and show that the proposed method outperforms two conventional multi-atlas-based methods. © 2017, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Internet of Things (IoT) current present two trends with respect to ubiquity and mobility. The number of devices increases remarkably and most forthcoming devices are mobile, e.g., Internet of Vehicles (IoV). In large scale mobile IoT, the management of device identification, fast authentication, and certification of public keys experiences upcoming difficulties. Centralized security architecture may not be suitable and in contrast cross-domain security architecture will tackle the ubiquity and mobility better. We note that blockchain is a new decentralized architecture equipped with basic cryptographic settings, which provides new tools such as token and guarantees many security properties such as block integrity. In this paper we design a blockchain-based fast authentication video data forwarding scheme for IoV. Compared with existing protocols, it has the advantages of decentralization, high authentication efficiency, strong trust, and resistance to common attacks. We evaluate our scheme with real experiments over Hyperledger Fabric and the authentication delay is manageable (e.g, 4 seconds in IoV).

We introduce LYSTO, the Lymphocyte Assessment Hackathon, which was held in conjunction with the MICCAI 2019 Conference in Shenzen (China). The competition required participants to automatically assess the number of lymphocytes, in particular T-cells, in histopathological images of colon, breast, and prostate cancer stained with CD3 and CD8 immunohistochemistry. Differently from other challenges setup in medical image analysis, LYSTO participants were solely given a few hours to address this problem. In this paper, we describe the goal and the multi-phase organization of the hackathon;we describe the proposed methods and the on-site results. Additionally, we present post-competition results where we show how the presented methods perform on an independent set of lung cancer slides, which was not part of the initial competition, as well as a comparison on lymphocyte assessment between presented methods and a panel of pathologists. We show that some of the participants were capable to achieve pathologist-level performance at lymphocyte assessment. After the hackathon, LYSTO was left as a lightweight plug-and-play benchmark dataset on grand-challenge website, together with an automatic evaluation platform. LYSTO has supported a number of research in lymphocyte assessment in oncology. In the scenario of large-scale network data, existing network security situation awareness methods have low accuracy of situation understanding and prediction, usually rely on hand-crafted feature selection, and take a long time for situation awareness. To this end, this paper proposes a situation awareness scheme based on SDT-CNN (Spatial & Depthwise Separable & Time Factor-Convolution Neural Network). Specifically, spatial and depthwise separable convolution are utilized to construct a composite series structure unit with fewer parameters and more depth than traditional convolution. A time factor is designed to take advantage of the time series data and control the fusion of the input data. Then, the awareness scheme is proposed with the data preprocessing, the proposed unit, time factor, and other optimizations such as imbalanced data adjustment. Finally, the experimental results on the datasets of KDD Cup 99, AWID, and UNSW-NB15 have shown that our proposed scheme outperforms the existing methods in wired networks, wireless networks, and modern network traffic and attack scenarios and shows much broader applicability than other methods.

Emotion recognition based on electroencephalography (EEG) data has gained rapid development because of its believability and accuracy. However, most existing EEG emotion recognition methods suffer from three issues: 1) underutilization of multi-scale emotion representations, 2) underexploitation of emotion labels and intrinsic geometric structures, and 3) inherent non-stationarity characteristic and individual variability of EEG signals. To this end, we propose an Adaptive Manifold Convolutional Broad Learning System (AM-ConvBLS) to capture the multi-scale distribution aligned emotion patterns in the geometric structure preserved emotion submanifold space. To begin with, a Multi-Scale Representation Learning (MSRL) module is developed to learn diverse multi-scale emotion representations. The Domain Discrepancy Elimination (DDE) module is then developed to further align feature distributions in the source and target domains. To further utilize EEG emotion labels, we devise a Label Manifold information Exploration (LMIE) module to retain the sample label consistency. In addition, a global feature importance analysis method for AM-ConvBLS based on Shapley Additive Global importancE (SAGE) is designed to investigate the EEG frequency band importance and brain neural activation patterns. Experiments on SEED, SEED-IV, and SEED-V datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our AM-ConvBLS. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

The envisioned sixth-generation (6G) of wireless networks will involve an intelligent integration of communications and computing, thereby meeting the urgent demands of diverse applications. To realize the concept of the smart radio environment, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) are a promising technology for offering programmable propagation of impinging electromagnetic signals via external control. However, the purely reflective nature of conventional RISs induces significant challenges in supporting computation-based applications, e.g., wave-based calculation and signal processing. To fulfil future communication and computing requirements, new materials are needed to complement the existing technologies of metasurfaces, enabling further diversification of electronics and their applications. In this event, we introduce the concept of reconfigurable intelligent computational surface (RICS), which is composed of two reconfigurable multifunctional layers: the ‘reconfigurable beamforming layer’ which is responsible for tunable signal reflection, absorption, and refraction, and the ‘intelligence computation layer’ that concentrates on metamaterials-based computing. By exploring the recent trends on computational metamaterials, RICSs have the potential to make joint communication and computation a reality. We further demonstrate two typical applications of RICSs for performing wireless spectrum sensing and secrecy signal processing. Future research challenges arising from the design and operation of RICSs are finally highlighted. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The main purpose of this paper is to develop some methods to investigate the Schwarz type lemmas of holomorphic mappings and pluriharmonic mappings in Banach spaces. Initially, we extend the classical Schwarz lemmas of holomorphic mappings to Banach spaces, and then we apply these extensions to establish a sharp Bloch type theorem for pluriharmonic mappings on homogeneous unit balls of Cn and to obtain some sharp boundary Schwarz type lemmas for holomorphic mappings in Banach spaces. Furthermore, we improve and generalize the classical Schwarz lemmas of planar harmonic mappings into the sharp forms of Banach spaces, and present some applications to sharp boundary Schwarz type lemmas for pluriharmonic mappings in Banach spaces. Additionally, using a relatively simple method of proof, we prove some sharp Schwarz-Pick type estimates of pluriharmonic mappings in JB∗-triples, and the obtained results provide the improvements and generalizations of the corresponding results in [9].MSC Codes 32A30, 32U05, 32K05 Copyright © 2021, The Authors. This study proposes different standalone models viz: Elman neural network (ENN), Boosted Tree algorithm (BTA), and f relevance vector machine (RVM) for modeling arsenic (As (mg/kg)) and zinc (Zn (mg/kg)) in marine sediments owing to anthropogenic activities. A heuristic algorithm based on the potential of RVM and a flower pollination algorithm (RVM-FPA) was developed to improve the prediction performance. Several evaluation indicators and graphical methods coupled with visualized cumulative probability function (CDF) were used to evaluate the accuracy of the models. Akaike (AIC) and Schwarz (SCI) information criteria based on Dickey-Fuller (ADF) and Philip Perron (PP) tests were introduced to check the reliability and stationarity of the data. The prediction performance in the verification phase indicated that RVM-M2 (PBAIS = -o.0465, MAE = 0.0335) and ENN-M2 (PBAIS = 0.0043, MAE = 0.0322) emerged as the best model for As (mg/kg) and Zn (mg/kg), respectively. In contrast with the standalone approaches, the simulated hybrid RVM-FPA proved merit and the most reliable, with a 5 % and 18 % predictive increase for As (mg/kg) and Zn (mg/kg), respectively. The study's findings validated the potential for estimating complex HMs through intelligent data-driven models and heuristic optimization. The study also generated valuable insights that can inform the decision-makers and stockholders for environmental management strategies. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd
