Gravitational-wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) is a space-borne instrument dedicated to monitoring high-energy transients, including Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes (TGFs) and Terrestrial Electron Beams (TEBs). We implemented a TGF/TEB search algorithm for GECAM, with which 147 bright TGFs, 2 typical TEBs and 2 special TEB-like events are identified during an effective observation time of ∼9 months. We show that, with gamma-ray and charged particle detectors, GECAM can effectively identify and distinguish TGFs and TEBs, and measure their temporal and spectral properties in detail. A very high TGF-lightning association rate of ∼80% is obtained between GECAM and GLD360 in east Asia region. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Dynamic NOMA-Based Computation Offloading in Vehicular Platoons

Both the Mobile edge computing (MEC)-based and fog computing (FC)-aided Internet of Vehicles (IoV) constitute promising paradigms of meeting the demands of low-latency pervasive computing. To this end, we construct a dynamic NOMA-based computation offloading scheme for vehicular platoons on highways, where the vehicles can offload their computing tasks to other platoon members. To cope with the rapidly fluctuating channel quality, we divide the timeline into successive time slots according to the channel's coherence time. Robust computing and offloading decisions are made for each time slot after taking the channel estimation errors into account. Considering a certain time slot, we first analytically characterize both the locally computed source data and the offloaded source data as well as the energy consumption of every vehicle in the platoons. We then formulate the problem of minimizing the long-term maximum task queue by optimizing the allocation of both the communication and computing resources. To solve the problem formulated, we design an online algorithm based on the classic Lyapunov optimization method and successive convex approximation (SCA) method. Finally, the numerical simulation results characterize the performance of our algorithm and demonstrate its advantages both over the local computing scheme and the orthogonal multiple access (OMA)-based offloading scheme. © 2021, CC BY.

Since its fundamental inception from soap bubbles, Plateau's law has sparked extensive research in equilibrated states. However, most studies primarily relied on liquids, foams or cellular structures, whereas its applicability has yet to be explored in nano-scale solid films. Here, we observed a variant Plateau's law in networks of atomically thin domes made of solid two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). Discrete layer-dependent van der Waals (vdWs) interaction energies were experimentally and theoretically obtained for domes protruding in different TMD layers. Significant surface tension differences from layer-dependent vdWs interaction energies manifest in a variant of this fundamental law. Meanwhile, the remarkable mechanical properties, gas impermeability and interlayer vdWs interaction energy of TMD films enable domes and the networks to sustain high gas pressure and exist in a fundamentally variant nature for several years. Our findings pave the way towards exploring variant discretised states with applications in opto-electro-mechanical devices. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Local Patch Network with Global Attention for Infrared Small Target Detection

Infrared small target detection plays an important role in the infrared search and tracking applications. In recent years, deep learning techniques were introduced to this task and achieved noteworthy effects. Following general object segmentation methods, existing deep learning methods usually processed the image from the global view. However, the imaging locality of small targets and extreme class-imbalance between the target and background pixels were not well-considered by these deep learning methods, which causes the low-efficiency on training and high-dependence on numerous data. A local patch network (LPNet) with global attention is proposed in this paper to detect small targets by jointly considering the global and local properties of infrared small target images. From the global view, a supervised attention module trained by the small target spread map is proposed to suppress most background pixels irrelevant with small target features. From the local view, local patches are split from global features and share the same convolution weights with each other in a patch net. By leveraging both the global and local properties, the data-driven framework proposed in this paper has fused multi-scale features for small target detection. Extensive synthetic and real data experiments show that the proposed method achieves the state-of-the-art performance compared with existing both conventional and deep learning methods. © 2021, CC BY.

Recently,positioning services have received considerable *** primary source of the positioning error is non-line-of-sight (NLOS) *** address this problem,we propose a novel NLOS mitigation scheme,in which the geometric relationship between a base station and a mobile station is *** makes it possible to identify range measurements corrupted by NLOS errors,and the mobile station can then estimate its position through line-of-sight (LOS) ***,the threshold of the NLOS detector is derived via a hybrid method using both the analytical derivation and computer simulation,which significantly reduces the difficulty of identifying *** identifying the NLOS measurements,a two-step weighted-least-squares algorithm is used to obtain the localization,in which both range and angle measurements are *** simulation results reveal that the proposed algorithm yields a high identification probability of NLOS measurements,which results in improved localization performance.

Within the kinetic energy driven superconducting mechanism, we have studied the temperature dependence of commensurate magnetic resonance in cuprate superconductors. It is shown that the commensurate magnetic resonance peak at the antiferromagnetic wave vector point persists in the superconducting state until the temperature rises to the superconducting transition temperature Tc. The intensity of the resonance peak decreases with increasing temperature which is just like the temperature dependence of the superconducting gap parameter. Our results are in qualitative agreement with the inelastic neutron scattering experimental data and reflect that the commensurate magnetic resonance is closely related to the creation of the charge carrier pairs and thus the superconducting mechanism of cuprate superconductors. © 2018 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland

—Photo-realistic point cloud capture and transmission are the fundamental enablers for immersive visual communication. The coding process of dynamic point clouds, especially video-based point cloud compression (V-PCC) developed by the MPEG standardization group, is now delivering state-of-the-art performance in compression efficiency. V-PCC is based on the projection of the point cloud patches to 2D planes and encoding the sequence as 2D texture and geometry patch sequences. However, the resulting quantization errors from coding can introduce compression artifacts, which can be very unpleasant for the quality of experience (QoE). In this work, we developed a novel out-of-the-loop point cloud geometry artifact removal solution that can significantly improve reconstruction quality without additional bandwidth cost. Our novel framework consists of a point cloud sampling scheme, an artifact removal network, and an aggregation scheme. The point cloud sampling scheme employs a cube-based neighborhood patch extraction to divide the point cloud into patches. The geometry artifact removal network then processes these patches to obtain artifact-removed patches. The artifact-removed patches are then merged together using an aggregation scheme to obtain the final artifact-removed point cloud. We employ 3D deep convolutional feature learning for geometry artifact removal that jointly recovers both the quantization direction and the quantization noise level by exploiting projection and quantization prior. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method is highly effective and can considerably improve the quality of the reconstructed point cloud. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. The Web has become a huge programmable platform in the Web 2.0 era. More and more companies are opening their data and services to the public through Web APIs. With the increasing number and variety of Web APIs, new Web applications and value-added services can be rapidly developed by combining different APIs. The ever-growing collaborations between APIs thus raise a kind of a large-scale networks, namely Web API collaboration networks. However, the structure and evolution process of Web API collaboration networks are still unclear to people so far. This paper provides a deep analysis to the internal structure of a real-world Web API collaboration network using k-core decomposition. We firstly construct the Web API collaboration network by using the data crawled from the largest Web API registry, Programmable ***, and then employ the k-core decomposition method to obtain different subgraphs of the network with different centrality or coreness (i.e., k-cores). We give an experimental analysis to the structures of the Web API collaboration network and its k-cores by using some classic statistical tools, such as degree distribution and clustering coefficient. The analysis results not only can identify the most central APIs in the Web API collaboration network, but also provides a basis for the visualization and understanding of Web API collaboration networks.

Asymmetrically interacting dynamics with mutual confirmation from multi-source on multiplex networks

In the early stage of epidemics, individuals’ determination on adopting protective measures, which can reduce their risk of infection and suppress disease spreading, is likely to depend on multiple information sources and their mutual confirmation due to inadequate exact information. Here we introduce the inter-layer mutual confirmation mechanism into the information-disease interacting dynamics on multiplex networks. In our model, an individual increases the information transmission rate and willingness to adopt protective measures once he confirms the authenticity of news and severity of disease from neighbors status in multiple layers. By using the microscopic Markov chain approach, we analytically calculate the epidemic threshold and the awareness and infected density in the stationary state, which agree well with simulation results. We find that the increment of epidemic threshold when confirming the aware neighbors on communication layer is larger than that of the contact layer. On the contrary, the confirmation of neighbors’ awareness and infection from the contact layer leads to a lower final infection density and a higher awareness density than that of the communication layer. The results imply that individuals’ explicit exposure of their infection and awareness status to neighbors, especially those with real contacts, is helpful in suppressing epidemic spreading. Incremental Attribute Reduction Based on Knowledge Granularity under Incomplete Data

Traditional attribute reductions can't be directly applied to miss attribute values and dynamic changes data. Therefore, how to dynamically update attribute reductions efficiently when incomplete data changes dynamically is great research value. For the change of the object, using matrix's simple and clear characteristics, the paper focus on the incremental attribute reduction algorithm in matrix form of knowledge granularity. Firstly, the knowledge granularity is obtained by matrix which uses to measure the uncertainty of the system, then calculating the attribute importance, and using the attribute importance to devise a static algorithm, and then analyzing incremental matrix form when the object increases. The comparative experiments show that the incremental algorithm can effectively and efficiently update the result of attribute reduction as the object changes.
