Monaural Singing Voice Separation (MSVS) is a challenging task and has been studied for decades. Deep neural networks (DNNs) are the current state-of-the-art methods for MSVS. However, the existing DNNs are often designed manually, which is time-consuming and error-prone. In addition, the network architectures are usually pre-defined, and not adapted to the training data. To address these issues, we introduce a Neural Architecture Search (NAS) method to the structure design of DNNs for MSVS. Specifically, we propose a new multi-resolution Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) framework for MSVS namely Multi-Resolution Pooling CNN (MRP-CNN), which uses various-size pooling operators to extract multi-resolution features. Based on the NAS, we then develop an evolving framework namely Evolving MRP-CNN (E-MRP-CNN), by automatically searching the effective MRP-CNN structures using genetic algorithms, optimized in terms of a single-objective considering only separation performance, or multi-objective considering both the separation performance and the model complexity. The multiobjective E-MRP-CNN gives a set of Pareto-optimal solutions, each providing a trade-off between separation performance and model complexity. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations on the MIR-1K and DSD100 datasets are used to demonstrate the advantages of the proposed framework over several recent baselines. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is an important analytical tool in chemistry, biology, and life science, but it suffers from relatively low sensitivity and long acquisition time. Thus, improving the apparent signal-to-noise ratio and accelerating data acquisition become indispensable. In this review, we summarize the recent progress on low rank Hankel matrix and tensor methods, that exploit the exponential property of free induction decay signals, to enable effective denoising and spectra reconstruction. We also outline future developments that are likely to make NMR spectroscopy a far more powerful technique. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

To further improve the quality of ontology alignment, it is necessary for an ontology matcher to introduce a user’s knowledge into its automatic matching process, which yields the development of interactive ontology matching techniques. Since validating problematic entity correspondences is a difficult cognition task, user interaction based on Ontology Alignment Visualization (OAV) has become the critical component of an interactive ontology matcher, which directly affects the quality of validating result and the efficiency of validating process. The existing OAV tools are mainly developed based on their designers’ subjective feelings and experiences, which do not take into consideration the law of human cognition. To improve the efficiency of the ontology alignment validating process, in this paper, a Multi-view OAV (MOAV) is proposed, which synthetically utilizes the human cognitive theory-information visualization and human-computer inter-action. The experiment utilizes the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative (OAEI)’s benchmark to test the performance of our proposal, and the experimental results show that MOAV can effectively improve a user’s validating efficiency. © 2020, Taiwan Ubiquitous information. Manifold learning has attracted more and more attention in machine learning for past decades. Unsupervised Large Graph Embedding (ULGE), which performs well on the large-scale data, has been proposed for manifold learning. To improve the clustering performance, a novel Unsupervised Ensemble Learning based on Graph Embedding (UEL-GE) is explored, which takes ULGE to get low-dimensional embeddings of the given data and uses the K-means method to obtain the clustering results. Furthermore, the multiple clusterings are corrected by using the bestMap method. Finally, the corrected clusterings are combined to generate the final clustering. Extensive experiments on several data sets are conducted to show the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed ensemble learning method. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2018.

Medical informatization takes a key role in medical and healthcare industries, which is a necessary way of improving service quality and treatment experience in a hospital. In this paper, we design and implement an integrated and intelligent healthcare system with mobile services, specific to dental healthcare. The developed system contains four components, including WeChat official account, intelligent question and answering (Q&A) system, mobile follow-up care mini program and AI speech assistant. The developed WeChat official account and intelligent Q&A system provide a large amount of professional knowledge on dental health, which can help narrow the knowledge gap between doctors and patients. The two components facilitate patients to follow up our applications without downloading any extra softwares, as the developed functions (e.g., voice service) are provided through mobile services. These two components also facilitate follow-up management, decreasing manpower and resource usage in hospital. Our system is developed to serve patients as well as dentists, and provides a group of interactive healthcare services in a low cost. In this paper, we elaborate the whole system architecture and implementation detail of each component. We consider the optimization of distributed resource scheduling to minimize the sum of task latency and energy consumption for all the Internet of things devices (IoTDs) in a large-scale mobile edge computing (MEC) system. To address this problem, we propose a distributed intelligent resource scheduling (DIRS) framework, which includes centralized training relying on the global information and distributed decision making by each agent deployed in each MEC server. More specifically, we first introduce a novel multi-agent ensemble-assisted distributed deep reinforcement learning (DRL) architecture, which can simplify the overall neural network structure of each agent by partitioning the state space and also improve the performance of a single agent by combining decisions of all the agents. Secondly, we apply action refinement to enhance the exploration ability of the proposed DIRS framework, where the near-optimal state-action pairs are obtained by a novel Lvy flight search. Finally, an imitation acceleration scheme is presented to pre-train all the agents, which can significantly accelerate the learning process of the proposed framework through learning the professional experience from a small amount of demonstration data. Extensive simulations are conducted to demonstrate that the proposed DIRS framework is efficient and outperforms the existing benchmark schemes. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Some researchers have worked on intermittent control and alternate control. In both cases, the choice of the control was a constant quantity. But, in real life, this situation is hard to come by for the reason that control may vary with time and circumstances owing to machine or human errors or both. Hence is the need to employ a method in which the control matrix is rather uncertain as is obtainable in real life. In this paper, we consider a more general model of both intermittent and alternate control which allows the control matrix to be fuzzy (uncertain). It turns out that both the classical intermittent and classical alternate controls are recovered in this mode.

The main goal of biomedical event extraction is to structurally extract biomedical events from texts, however, the specificity of the domain makes both text modeling and data annotation very difficult. We propose a self-supervised learning-based data augmentation method in this paper and design specific augmentation strategies for biomedical entities and event triggers in biomedical texts, which solves the problem of sparse annotation data to some extent. In addition we improve the reinforcement learning-based event extraction method to improve the training efficiency of the model. The experiments on two datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.

HSCS:a hybrid shared cache scheduling scheme for multiprogrammed workloads

The traditional dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) storage medium can be integrated on chips via modern emerging 3D-stacking technology to architect a DRAM shared cache in multicore systems. Compared with static random-access memory (SRAM), DRAM is larger but slower. In the existing research, a lot of work has been devoted to improving the workload performance using SRAM and stacked DRAM together in shared cache systems, ranging from SRAM structure improvement to optimizing cache tags and data access. However, little attention has been paid to designing a shared cache scheduling scheme for multiprogrammed workloads with different memory footprints in multicore systems. Motivated by this, we propose a hybrid shared cache scheduling scheme that allows a multicore system to utilize SRAM and 3D-stacked DRAM efficiently, thus achieving better workload performance. This scheduling scheme employs (1) a cache monitor, which is used to collect cache statistics; (2) a cache evaluator, which is used to evaluate the cache information during the process of programs being executed; and (3) a cache switcher, which is used to self-adaptively choose SRAM or DRAM shared cache modules. A cache data migration policy is naturally developed to guarantee that the scheduling scheme works correctly. Extensive experiments are conducted to evaluate the workload performance of our proposed scheme. The experimental results showed that our method can improve the multiprogrammed workload performance by up to 25% compared with state-of-the-art methods (including conventional and DRAM cache systems).

In this paper, we propose a method for facial expression recognition for in-the-wild videos. Our method combines Deep Residual Network (ResNet) and Bidirectional Recurrent Neutral Network with Long-Short-Term Memory Unit (BLSTM). This method won the 2 nd place in the seven basic expression classification track of Affective Behavior Analysis in-the-wild Competition held in conjunction with the IEEE International Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition (FG) 2020, achieving 66.9% accuracy and 40.8% final metric on the test set. We also visualize the learned attention maps and analyze the importance of different regions in facial expression recognition.
