Since different ontologies are mostly developed independently, establishing meaningful links between their entities, so-called ontology matching, is critical to ensure their communication. Due to the complexity of the ontology matching problem, Evolutionary Algorithm (EA) can present a good methodology for determining ontology alignments. However, since none of the similarity measure can distinguish all the identical ontology entities in any context, ontology alignments generated by the automatic matching tools should be validated by the users to ensure their qualities. To improve the quality of the ontology alignment, in this work, a similarity measure is first proposed to calculate the similarity value of two ontology entities; then, an optimal model for ontology matching problem is constructed; after that, an EA-based automatic matcher is presented to solve the ontology matching problem, which can also adaptively determine the timing of getting user involved; and finally, the ontology concept hierarchy graph based reasoning approaches are proposed to tradeoff the user's workload and his work's effect. The experiment is conducted on the Interactive track provided by the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative (OAEI), and the comparisons with OAEI's participants show the effectiveness of our proposal.

There are two types of roadside devices for advertisement dissemination in the Vehicular Cyber-Physical Systems (VCPS), one is roadside units (RSUs) and the other is roadside access points (RAPs). The placement cost of RSUs is lower than RAPs. However, the coverage of RSUs is limited. In this paper, we investigate the hybrid roadside device placement problem in the Vehicular Cyber-Physical Systems (VCPS). Given the budget constraint and the distribution of traffic conditions, our goal is to optimize the deployment of the hybrid roadside device for the merchants to maximize their benefits from advertisement dissemination. With the purpose of all advertisement can be effectively served, we propose a corresponding hybrid greedy placement algorithm. Our algorithm not only obtains the more benefits, but also consider the placement cost. Finally, we evaluate the performance of our proposed algorithm. Extensive simulations show that the performance of our proposed algorithm is superior to the other algorithms. © 2018, ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) is a pair of microsatellites (i.e. GECAM-A and GECAM-B) dedicated to monitoring gamma-ray transients including gravitational waves high-energy electromagnetic counterparts, Gamma-ray Bursts, Soft Gamma-ray Repeaters, Solar Flares and Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes. Since launch in December 2020, GECAM-B has detected hundreds of astronomical and terrestrial events. For these bursts, localization is the key for burst identification and classification as well as follow-up observations in multi-wavelength. Here, we propose a Bayesian localization method with Poisson data with Gaussian background profile likelihood to localize GECAM bursts based on the burst counts distribution in detectors with different orientations. We demonstrate that this method can work well for all kinds of bursts, especially for extremely short ones. In addition, we propose a new method to estimate the systematic error of localization based on a confidence level test, which can overcome some problems of the existing method in literature. We validate this method by Monte Carlo simulations, and then apply it to a burst sample with accurate location and find that the mean value of the systematic error of GECAM-B localization is ∼ 2.5◦. By considering this systematic error, we can obtain a reliable localization probability map for GECAM bursts. Our methods can be applied to other gamma-ray monitors. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. In this paper, we propose a human-computer interaction (HCI) system for entertainment or education via a depth-sensing camera. The whole system is comprised of three modules: hand detection, hand tracking, and gesture recognition. In our system, specifically, hand detection is based entirely on computer vision and do not use any markers. We utilize the Kalman filter and depth data from the Kinect to predict the hand position making the tracking smooth and robust. And we extract the apparent gestural features to recognize gestures, which are adaptable and quick. Two applications are in place to demonstrate the system: writing board, in which the user can freely draw lines in the air using their hand, and a classic game, Gluttonous snake, which is transformed into a novel game by using our framework. The system we develop is highly extendible and can be used in a wide variety of other interactive scenarios. © 2018 IEEE.

—Existing generalization theories analyze the generalization performance mainly based on the model complexity and training process. The ignorance of the task properties, which results from the widely used IID assumption, makes these theories fail to interpret many generalization phenomena or guide practical learning tasks. In this paper, we propose a new Independent and Task-Identically Distributed (ITID) assumption, to consider the task properties into the data generating process. The derived generalization bound based on the ITID assumption identifies the significance of hypothesis invariance in guaranteeing generalization performance. Based on the new bound, we introduce a practical invariance enhancement algorithm from the perspective of modifying data distributions. Finally, we verify the algorithm and theorems in the context of image classification task on both toy and real-world datasets. The experimental results demonstrate the reasonableness of the ITID assumption and the effectiveness of new generalization theory in improving practical generalization performance. Multiple phase transitions in networks of directed networks

The robustness in real-world complex systems with dependency connectivities differs from that in isolated networks. Although most complex network research has focused on interdependent undirected systems, many real-world networks—such as gene regulatory networks and traffic networks—are directed. We thus develop an analytical framework for examining the robustness of networks made up of directed networks of differing topologies. We use it to predict the phase transitions that occur during node failures and to generate the phase diagrams of a number of different systems, including treelike and random regular (RR) networks of directed Erdős-Rényi (ER) networks and scale-free networks. We find that the the phase transition and phase diagram of networks of directed networks differ from those of networks of undirected networks. For example, the RR networks of directed ER networks show a hybrid phase transition that does not occur in networks of undirected ER networks. In addition, system robustness is affected by network topology in networks of directed networks. As coupling strength q increases, treelike networks of directed ER networks change from a second-order phase transition to a first-order phase transition, and RR networks of directed ER networks change from a second-order phase transition to a hybrid phase transition, then to a first-order phase transition, and finally to a region of collapse. We also find that heterogenous network systems are more robust than homogeneous network systems. We note that there are multiple phase transitions and triple points in the phase diagram of RR networks of directed networks and this helps us understand how to increase network robustness when designing interdependent infrastructure systems.

Multiple Photon Sampling Technique Based on Stochastic Progressive Photon Mapping

This paper introduces a multiple photon sampling technique based on stochastic progressive photon mapping. We use the image space concept to divide the scene into continuous sub-blocks and then we calculate our proposed distance function and photon number function in each of the sub-blocks. The distance function is used to calculate the distance error of the hit point and to determine whether each sub-block is located at a boundary between different objects. The photon number function is used to calculate the photon number error and to determine whether the photon distribution in each sub-block is uniform. Based on the values of the distance error and the photon number error, the multiple photon sampling technique is used to acquire multiple samples of the hit point in each sub-block. Instead of using a single radius for the radiance estimate, we use three different radii and compute the final radiance estimate as a weighted average of the three values. When compared with the existing stochastic progressive photon mapping method, our method provides a better solution to the photon distribution problem and can also reduce bias and noise, especially in the scene with drastic changes in light and dark.

Tubular structure tracking is a crucial task in the fields of computer vision and medical image analysis. The minimal paths-based approaches have exhibited their strong ability in tracing tubular structures, by which a tubular structure can be naturally modeled as a minimal geodesic path computed with a suitable geodesic metric. However, existing minimal paths-based tracing approaches still suffer from difficulties such as the shortcuts and short branches combination problems, especially when dealing with the images involving complicated tubular tree structures or background. In this paper, we introduce a new minimal paths-based model for minimally interactive tubular structure centerline extraction in conjunction with a perceptual grouping scheme. Basically, we take into account the prescribed tubular trajectories and curvature-penalized geodesic paths to seek suitable shortest paths. The proposed approach can benefit from the local smoothness prior on tubular structures and the global optimality of the used graph-based path searching scheme. Experimental results on both synthetic and real images prove that the proposed model indeed obtains outperformance comparing with the state-of-the-art minimal paths-based tubular structure tracing algorithms.
