A powerful method for automated decision systems is Adversarial Imitation Learning (AIL). It is based on a generative adversarial framework that alternately optimizes a generator (learner) and a discriminator (reward function). In the popular mind, a high-accuracy discriminator results in informative rewards, thus AIL must balance the performance between a generator and a discriminator. However, we find that the AIL reward function is biased and also results in informative rewards. Thus, we theoretically analyze the bias in the AIL reward function and find that balancing the performance of a generator and a discriminator is not necessary when we recover an unbiased reward function. Further, we propose a mutual information based auxiliary reward function. Experiments on continuous control tasks indicate that MI-GAIL is able to address the bias problem of the AIL reward function and further improve sample efficiency and training stability compared with up-to-date algorithms.

The application of CBCT systems in intraoperative environments has become increasingly common, but concurrent CBCT systems are unsuitable for situations that require a large longitudinal imaging FoV, such as orthopedics. To increase longitudinal coverage, we developed a dual-source CBCT (DS-CBCT) system in which two ray sources are symmetrically placed along the central plane. After further analyzing its geometric characteristics, we propose an analytical reconstruction algorithm termed DT-FDK specialized for DS-CBCT, which combines cone-beam rebinning and two rays with smaller cone angles among the four conjugate rays to further suppress cone beam artifacts. The system design and reconstruction algorithm are tested on both simulated and real-scanned data. Results show that the DS-CBCT can expand the effective imaging volume by 37.1% compared to single-source CBCT systems. The reconstructed images by DT-FDK also show improved image quality compared to traditional reconstruction algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

Drug-target interaction (DTI) prediction has an important role in drug discovery, significantly expediting the drug design and development process. This paper proposes a new model, ERW-BiAN, that seamlessly integrates graph embedding representations with deep learning network. Specifically, we utilize an improved graph embedding model, ERW, to generate comprehensive feature vectors for each node within the knowledge graph. Subsequently, these feature vectors are fed into the BiAN model, which leverages an attention mechanism to assign precise weights to sequences. Experimental results demonstrate the superior accuracy and predictive prowess of ERW-BiAN in DTI prediction tasks. Furthermore, the case about COVID-19 shows that ERW-BiAN has the better application potential for predicting drug-target interactions. © 2024 IEEE.

It is difficult to train a trustworthy transformer model on a small image classification dataset. This research proposes a sophisticated structured knowledge distillation algorithm that uses CNNs as Transformer's sophisticated teachers, significantly lowering the number of training datasets needed. To better to develop the potential for CNN tutors, this research configures a public data set for CNN teaching as an enlightenment textbook to guide Transformer's training and avoid falling into local optimization prematurely. The distillation process then employs a 'learn-digest-self-distillation' learning strategy to enable the Transformer to assimilate CNN knowledge in a structured manner. Sufficient experiments show that the proposed method is significantly better than the direct training Transformer under the condition of limited data sets. Moreover, in order to show the practical application value, this research contributed a practical data set for the classification of smoking and calling. Multivariate Time Series (MTS) forecasting has gained significant importance in diverse domains. Although Recurrent Neural Network (RNN)-based approaches have made notable advancements in MTS forecasting, they do not effectively tackle the challenges posed by noise and unordered data. Drawing inspiration from advancing the Transformer model, we introduce a transformer-based method called STFormer to address this predicament. The STFormer utilizes a two-stage Transformer to capture spatio-temporal relationships and tackle the issue of noise. Furthermore, the MTS incorporates adaptive spatio-temporal graph structures to tackle the issue of unordered data specifically. The Transformer incorporates graph embedding to combine spatial position information with long-term temporal connections. Experimental results based on typical finance and environment datasets demonstrate that STFormer surpasses alternative baseline forecasting models and achieves state-of-the-art results for single-step horizon and multistep horizon forecasting. © 2024 - IOS Press. Retinal vessel segmentation is important for the diagnosis of many diseases. The segmentation of microscopic vessels is one of the challenges because of the complex structure of retinal vessels, which makes it challenging to tell the vessels apart from the background. In order to improve the segmentation performance of retinal vessels, we use the edge detection method of HED to optimize the segmentation effect of UNet. Using Hybrid Dilated Convolution not only increases the perceptual field, but also avoids the loss of information continuity caused by the continuous use of dilated convolution. The Pyramid Pooling Module is used at the end of the encoder to compensate for the information loss caused by downsampling. Finally, the output of edge detection and image segmentation is combined as the final result. The model is evaluated in two mainstream datasets DRIVE and CHASE-DB1, and the experimental results show that the proposed model can improve the performance of retinal vessel segmentation. © 2022 IEEE.

It is a rapid and irresistible developing trend that the traditional classroom learning mode is transformed into an online learning mode. In the online learning process, it is important to achieve effective voice separation and provide a good lecture experience for students. In this paper, a robust and automatic method for the recognition of speech categories (teacher speech, student speech, silence speech and overlapping speech) is presented. The system, which is part of artificial intelligence in education (AIED), is a hybrid speech processing system that includes GMM modeling, GMM clustering, silence processing and overlapping processing. The online learning environment we are based on is not a customized environment that defines the roles of teachers or students, but a more casual, broader and more general online environment. The method proposed and designed based on this situation has better adaptability and scalability. The experimental results show that our automatic detection of speech categories fares well when compared to the results from professional coders. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

In recent years, wind power has become more and more important in the energy component. In order to improve the prediction accuracy of wind farms and help management and scheduling, a multi-site short-term wind power spatiotemporal combination forecasting model based on dynamic graph convolution and graph attention is proposed. Firstly, graph convolution is used to realize neighbor aggregation of temporal features between multiple sites, and the graph attention mechanism is used to enhance its ability to extract spatial features. At the same time, in view of the problem that the traditional model cannot deal with the real-time change of graph node correlation, the adjacency matrix is dynamically constructed according to the correlation coefficient and distance between nodes in the graph convolution process. Finally, the Gated Recurrent Unit is used to process the context information of dynamic graph convolution output to complete the prediction of wind power. The experimental results show that the proposed combined model is optimal in the aspects of prediction accuracy, stability and multi-step prediction performance. © 2023 SPIE.

The research of swarm intelligence shows a rapid development trend. People have studied a lot of swarm intelligence algorithms inspired by biology. Sparrow search algorithm is concerned by many scholars because of its powerful search performance. However, in the case of high-dimension optimization problems, if only a single sparrow search algorithm is used to solve optimization problems, the optimal solution often cannot be found, and the phenomenon of dimension disaster will occur or it is easy to fall into the local optimal solution. In order to make sparrow search algorithm have better performance in solving high-dimensional complex problems, In this paper, we propose a new Sparrow Search Algorithm with Adaptive Collaborative Updating (SSA-ACU). The SSA-ACU algorithm initializes the population through the chaotic search strategy to make the population distribution more diverse. Then, adaptive parameters are introduced to update the position of the leader to provide a more reliable direction for particle search. Finally, in order to enhance the development ability of the population, the position of the adjoint is updated through the pseudo-affine transformation mechanism to change the mode of its position update. Then CEC2013 was used to test and compare SSA-ACU algorithm with other sparrow search algorithm variants and classical algorithms, and it was verified that SSA-ACU algorithm has good performance in convergence speed and optimization ability. © 2024, Taiwan Ubiquitous information CO LTD.
