kNN-MT has been recently proposed, uses a token-level k-nearest neighbor approach to retrieve similar sentences, obtaining knowledge guidance from an external memory module, and then combined with the prediction results of the translation model, which greatly improves the accuracy of machine translation. However, kNN-MT uses simple linear interpolation in the fusion of retrieval probability and translation probability, which can not dynamically adjust the fusion ratio according to the matching degree of the retrieved sentences. Moreover, different fusion ratios need to be explored in different translation scenarios, and the translation effect will be affected when the retrieved sentences have a low matching degree or contain noise. In this paper, we propose an approach via Dempster-Shafer theory (DST) to dynamically fuse different probability distributions to suit different scenarios. We demonstrate that our approach is more significantly improved and more robust than the traditional kNN-MT, and we explore the application of kNN-MT in low-resource translation scenarios for the first time. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

To remove image haze and make haze image scene clear, we proposed an image dehazing network based on multi-scale feature extraction (MSFNet) in this paper. The MSFNet first directly performs feature extraction on hazy images with three different resolutions to obtain fine feature maps and concatenates them with the rough feature maps extracted in the downsampling process for fusing and obtaining richer image information. Then, the fused feature maps are put into a network module composed of ResNeXt building blocks for network learning. Next, the feature maps extracted by upsampling are sequentially concatenated with the feature maps learned by the ResNeXt module for obtaining the residual image. Finally, the learned residual image is added to the input hazy image to obtain the image dehazing result. The experimental results on the SOTS dataset show that the MSFNet improves effectiveness of image dehazing. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Post-hoc explanations are important for people to understand the predictions of explanation models. One class of methods in post-hoc explanation is the generation of counterfactuals, where a hypothetical example is obtained by perturbing the inputs to show how one could obtain a different prediction from the decision model. Counter-factual explanations should satisfy several properties: One is that counterfactuals generated under specific scenarios and constraints should be feasible for users, i.e., they should accommodate different causal constraints. The other is that it is more desirable for users to have a wider variety of viable examples, i.e., counterfactual diversity. To this end, we propose a parallelizable method based on gradient optimization. We partition the input feasible domains, perform counterfactual generation independently for each feasible domain, and then parallelize the counterfactual generation process for each feasible domain. Experimental results show that our approach effectively improves the diversity, sparsity, and proximity of the generated counterfactual instances on the public datasets Adult-Income, Lending-Club, German-Credit, and COMPAS compared to other models. © 2023 IEEE.

With the rapid development of information technology, video has become an important carrier for people to perceive information in daily life. If you want to analyze the action of people in the video data of various scenes and make use of the results, you must first identify the human action accurately. In this paper, a temporal self-attention module is proposed to help the network dynamically learn the correlation between different data frames, so as to better capture the dependency on the time of action. On this basis, a novel network structure, Channel-Temporal Self-Attention Block (C-TSAB), is further proposed. C-TSAB adaptively emphasizes the key channels of input features and focuses on the time dimension to enhance the model's ability to recognize and represent action features. In the ablation experiment, the Top-1 and Top-5 indicators in HMDB51 dataset were 58.54% and 81.70%, respectively, and the Top-1 and Top-5 indicators in UCF101 dataset were 58.54% and 82.73%, respectively. Comparative experiments were conducted on HMDB51 dataset and UCF101 dataset respectively, our model obtained a better Top-1 indicator, both of which were 58.54%, proving that our model has relatively good performance in video HAR task.

Image dehazing is an important research topic and hotspot in the fields of image processing and computer vision. Therefore, evaluating the performance of image dehazing algorithms has become an import research issue. However, current image quality assessment (IQA) algorithms only judge the final dehazed image and do not give an analysis of the capabilities of the image dehazing algorithm. In order to fill this gap, we propose an image dehazing quality assessment method that integrated the dark channel prior with image depth estimation. The proposed method first uses the dark channel prior to estimate the absolute amount of haze removed from each pixel as an indication of the performance of dehazing. Then, a dual-scale variance ratio method is introduced to estimate the scene depth of the image. Finally, the relative dehazing is calculated from the obtained absolute dehazing and the image depth to represent the capability of the dehazing algorithm. The method proposed in this paper first introduces the concepts of relative and absolute dehazing quantities, along with pioneering a pixel-level evaluation of dehazing outcomes. Extensive experiments show that the algorithm proposed in this paper is more in line with human subjective judgment than other IQA algorithms. © 2024, Taiwan Ubiquitous information CO LTD. Abstract — Previous studies have revealed the similarity between phase noise in the symbol domain of discrete Fourier transform spread (DFT-Spread) coherent orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) systems and that in the time domain. This paper further details this characteristic through both formulas and simulation results , while also analyzing and summarizing its formation conditions and influencing factors. Based on this, a phase noise compensation (PNC) framework based on DFT-Spread OFDM is proposed for high-order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) transmission with large fast Fourier transform (FFT) sizes. The proposed framework effectively suppresses inter-carrier interference (ICI) introduced by phase noise in OFDM systems, as verified through simulations of dual-polarization (DP) 64-QAM CO-OFDM transmission over 80km single-mode fiber (SMF). This work suggests that proposed PNC framework enhance the tolerance for laser linewidth in OFDM system, and may offer a possible solution for short distance high-baud-rate high-order QAM coherent transmission. © 2024, The Authors. The fully analytical method has been widely studied for its higher accuracy and efficiency, and the addition of shading rendering can effectively improve the three-dimensional perception of reconstructed images. However, existing fully analytical polygon-based shading rendering methods suffer from high computational complexity and complexity due to the need for additional calculation of the highlight spectrum. Based on previous research, we employ a continuous light and shadow algorithm that uses linear interpolation to decouple the reflection term from the spectrum, meaning that we incorporate the specular component into the calculation of vertex modulus, and separately compute the vertex modulus and the corresponding spectrum values, simplifying the calculation process of existing Blinn Phong lighting models. The algorithm can effectively generate highly realistic holographically reconstructed images with high gloss effects under continuous illumination. It achieves computational efficiency than existing algorithms, without increasing the number of polygons. Simulations and experimental results have verified the effectiveness of our proposed method. © 2024 SPIE. All rights reserved.
