With the accelerated global urbanization and life rhythm, an increasing physical and mental stress has been imposed, which led to a variety of problems that could not be ignored. This paper proposes a novel web-based telemedicine system that is focusing on psychotherapy. Considering the requirement of the psychological treatment, the function of system contains high definition video monitoring, two-way voice talkback, physiology parameters monitoring and data management based on database. The solution of the system is presented in the paper, including the hardware and software design. Some key issues in the system, including HD video processing, physiological parameters processing, are also discussed. Finally, the demonstration system and performance evaluation are presented. © 2011 IEEE.

The pixel variation signal extracted from the nasal region of RGB-Thermal images can be used to achieve breathing rate (BR) measurement. However, this method fails when the nasal region is not detected in complicated motion scenarios. In this paper, we develop an RGB-Thermal imaging system collaborated with marker sticker to achieve unobtrusive and accurate BR measurement. Pixel variation signal of Regions of interest (ROI) is extracted from the thermal video and chest movement signal is extracted from the RGB video with the assistance of marker stickers. Subsequently, a custom-made time-domain signal processing approach is developed for determining BR. We further propose a method of splicing computation to measure the BR after separate processing of signal segments. We construct an RGB-Thermal video dataset with different head and body movements to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. After linear regression analysis, the determination coefficient (R2) of 0.905 has been observed for the estimated and reference BRs, indicating the feasibility of our proposed method in complex motion scenarios. © 2019 IEEE.

For those who love painting but unfortunately have visual impairments, holding a paintbrush to create a work is really a difficult task. For the purpose of solving this problem, a painting navigation system for visually impaired painters is introduced through the live demonstration. When painting, the developed system can endow visually impaired persons with the ability to perceive the surrounding environment, thus helping them realize their dream of painting. To achieve this goal, we designed four main modules viz., QR code based drawing board positioning module, brush real-Time positioning module, color recognition module and human-computer interaction module, and integrated them into the system. In the validation experiments, the blindfolded users can successfully create a painting with the help of the developed navigation system. Moreover, the users told us that this system provided them with good experience. In a way, this painting navigation system can be seen as "angel's eyes" of visually impaired painters. Aimed at the deficiency of the resampling algorithm in PF, diversity measures ESS (effective sample size) and PDF (population diversity factor) are evaluated respectively. Combined with the estimation result, diversity measures PDF is used for adaptively tuning the resampling threshold. By integrating the operation of particle mutation after resampling into PF and using the above mechanism of diversity guidance, the AMPF algorithm (Adaptive Mutation PF) is presented so as to assure the diversity of particle sets. With the simulation program using matlab 7.0 to track a single target motion from a fixed visual observation points, the performance of diversity measures and AMPF are evaluated and the validity of the proposed method is verified. © 2010 IEEE.

In this letter, we propose a supervised bimodal emotion recognition approach based on two important human emotion modalities including facial expression and body gesture. A effectively supervised feature fusion algorithms named supervised multiset canonical correlation analysis (SMCCA) is presented to established the linear connection between three sets of matrices, which contain the feature matrix of two modalities and their concurrent category matrix. The test results in the bimodal emotion recognition of the FABO database show that the SMCCA algorithm can get better or considerable efficiency than unsupervised feature fusion algorithm covering canonical correlation analysis (CCA), sparse canonical correlation analysis (SCCA), multiset canonical correlation analysis (MCCA) and so on. © 2018 The Institute of Electronics, Information and communication Engineers.

Smart health and emotional care powered by the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) are revolutionizing the healthcare industry by adopting several technologies related to multimodal physiological data collection, communication, intelligent automation, and efficient manufacturing. The security of medical images containing private patient information distributed in IoMT is of paramount importance in social communication, and guaranteeing their reliability has attracted widespread attention. Some existing medical image steganography methods fail to guarantee the original image's integrity, authenticity, and lossless restoration. To solve this problem, a restoration-enhanced reversible adaptive information steganography network, MediSR-Net, is proposed. Specifically, MediSR-Net consists of an analysis module and an encoding module. The image degradation-restoration strategy is exploited by the analysis module to improve the effectiveness of information embedding and perceptual field to reduce the error of pixel prediction. An information distillation and attention machine-based approach are adopted to achieve degradation-restoration of CT medical images at any scale and focus more on the degradation-restoration effect with small magnification factors. The encoding module is responsible for the embedding and extraction of privacy information. Ten state-of-the-art are compared with the MediSR-Net method concerning steganographic effect, embedding rate, distortion analysis, and prediction error. The qualitative and quantitative results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of MediSR-Net. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Homography matrix plays an important role in image stitching, camera calibration and other areas of computer vision. This paper presents a novel robust algorithm HM-GCE to estimate homography matrix with principles of genetic algorithm. Related experiments prove its superiority on the robustness, precision and time-consuming compared to the RANSAC algorithm. ©2010 IEEE.

It is very important to find diversity measure when to perform a resampling step in particle filter. By analyzing the inherent deficiency in resampling algorithm of particle filter, some diversity measures including effective sample size, population diversity factor and particle swarm diversity measure are introduced. Then combined with the simulation program using matlab 7.0 to track a single target motion from a fixed visual observation points, the performance of diversity measures in resampling algorithm of PF are evaluated. © 2010 IEEE.

Recently, deep neural networks (DNNs) have significantly improved the performance of acoustic modeling in statistical parametric speech synthesis (SPSS). However, in current implementations, when training a DNN-based speech synthesis system, phonetic transcripts are required to be aligned with the corresponding speech frames to obtain the phonetic segmentation, called phoneme alignment. Such an alignment is usually obtained by forced alignment based on hidden Markov models (HMMs) since manual alignment is labor-intensive and timeconsuming. In this work, we study the impact of phoneme alignment on the DNN-based speech synthesis system. Specifically, we compare the performances of different DNN-based speech synthesis systems, which use manual alignment and HMM-based forced alignment from three types of labels: HMM mono-phone, tri-phone and full-context. Objective and subjective evaluations are conducted in term of the naturalness of synthesized speech to compare the performances of different alignments. © 2016, 9th ISCA Speech Synthesis Workshop, SSW 2016. This paper presents a novel dense disparity estimation method using phase matching and color segmentation. In the proposed method, the initial disparity map is firstly obtained by an improved phase-based stereo matching solution. The solution effectively restrains two tough problems of phase singularities and phase wrap, in a coarse-to-fine approach, by using Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DT CWT) to extract the phase of the stereo images. The initial disparity is then refined by color segmentation and disparity plane fitting. Segmentation-based methods have an advantage of well representation of disparities on discontinuous region. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is superior in generating disparity maps with high accuracy and clean edges.
