3D object detection is an essential perception task in autonomous driving to understand the environments. The Bird's-Eye-View (BEV) representations have significantly improved the performance of 3D detectors with camera inputs on popular benchmarks. However, there still lacks a systematic understanding of the robustness of these vision-dependent BEV models, which is closely related to the safety of autonomous driving systems. In this paper, we evaluate the natural and adversarial robustness of various representative models under extensive settings, to fully understand their behaviors influenced by explicit BEV features compared with those without BEV. In addition to the classic settings, we propose a 3D consistent patch attack by applying adversarial patches in the 3D space to guarantee the spatiotemporal consistency, which is more realistic for the scenario of autonomous driving. With substantial experiments, we draw several findings: 1) BEV models tend to be more stable than previous methods under different natural conditions and common corruptions due to the expressive spatial representations; 2) BEV models are more vulnerable to adversarial noises, mainly caused by the redundant BEV features; 3) Camera-LiDARfusion models have superior performance under different settings with multi-modal inputs, but BEV fusion model is still vulnerable to adversarial noises of both point cloud and image. These findings alert the safety issue in the applications of BEV detectors and could facilitate the development of more robust models.

EWT: Efficient Wavelet-Transformer for Single image Denoising

Transformer-based image denoising methods have achieved encouraging results in the past year. However, it must uses linear operations to model long-range dependencies, which greatly increases model inference time and consumes GPU storage space. Compared with convolutional neural network-based methods, current Transformer-based image denoising methods cannot achieve a balance between performance improvement and resource consumption. In this paper, we propose an Efficient Wavelet Transformer (EWT) for image denoising. Specifically, we use Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Inverse Wavelet Transform (IWT) for downsampling and upsampling, respectively. This method can fully preserve the image features while reducing the image resolution, thereby greatly reducing the device resource consumption of the Transformer model. Furthermore, we propose a novel Dual-stream Feature Extraction Block (DFEB) to extract image features at different levels, which can further reduce model inference time and GPU memory usage. Experiments show that our method speeds up the original Transformer by more than 80%, reduces GPU memory usage by more than 60%, and achieves excellent denoising results. In practice, digital pathology images are often affected by various factors, resulting in very large differences in color and brightness. Stain normalization can effectively reduce the differences in color and brightness of digital pathology images, thus improving the performance of computer-aided diagnostic systems. Conventional stain normalization methods rely on one or several reference images, but one or several images may not adequately represent the entire dataset. Although learning-based stain normalization methods are a general approach, they use complex deep networks, which not only greatly reduce computational efficiency, but also risk introducing artifacts. Some studies use specialized network structures to enhance computational efficiency and reliability, but these methods are difficult to apply to multi-to-one stain normalization due to insufficient network capacity. In this study, we introduced dynamic-parameter network and proposed a novel method for stain normalization, called ParamNet. ParamNet addresses the challenges of limited network capacity and computational efficiency by introducing dynamic parameters (weights and biases of convolutional layers) into the network design. By effectively leveraging these parameters, ParamNet achieves superior performance in stain normalization while maintaining computational efficiency. The event-triggered H_(infinity) control design is investigated for networked control systems with uncertainties and transmission delays. A novel event-triggering scheme is proposed, which has some advantages over traditional ones with a continuous detector. Considering the effect of the transmission delay, a delay system model for the analysis is firstly constructed. Then, based on the model and Lyapunov functional method, criteria for the stability with an H_(infinity) norm bound and criteria for the co-design of both the feedback gain and the trigger parameters are derived. In order to solve the feedback gain and the trigger parameters, the linear matrix inequality technique is employed. From the simulation example, it can be concluded that the proposed event-triggering scheme is superior to some other event-triggering schemes in some existing literature.

Structure-preserved denoising of 3D magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images is a critical step in medical image analysis. Over the past few years, many algorithms with impressive performances have been proposed. In this paper, inspired by the idea of deep learning, we introduce an MRI denoising method based on the residual encoder-decoder Wasserstein generative adversarial network (RED-WGAN). Specifically, to explore the structure similarity between neighboring slices, a 3D configuration is utilized as the basic processing unit. Residual autoencoders combined with deconvolution operations are introduced into the generator network. Furthermore, to alleviate the oversmoothing shortcoming of the traditional mean squared error (MSE) loss function, the perceptual similarity, which is implemented by calculating the distances in the feature space extracted by a pretrained VGG-19 network, is incorporated with the MSE and adversarial losses to form the new loss function. Extensive experiments are implemented to assess the performance of the proposed method. The experimental results show that the proposed RED-WGAN achieves performance superior to several state-of-the-art methods in both simulated and real clinical data. Learning-based face hallucination methods have received much attention and progress in past few decades. Specially, position-patch based approaches have been proposed to replace the probabilistic graph-based or manifold learning-based ones. As opposed to the existing patch based methods, where the input image patch matrix is converted into vectors before combination coefficients calculation, in this paper, we propose to directly use the image matrix based regression model for combination coefficients computation to preserve the essential structural information of the input patch matrix. For each input low-resolution (LR) patch matrix, its combination coefficients over the training image patch matrices at the same position can be computed. Then the corresponding high-resolution (HR) patch matrix can be obtained with the LR training patches replaced by the corresponding HR ones. The nonlocal self-similarities are finally utilized to further improve the hallucination performance. Various experimental results on standard face databases indicate that our proposed method outperforms some state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of both visual quantity and objective metrics.

In this work, we propose a lightweight non-contact physiological signal monitor. The proposed system is equipped with the modified DeepPhys model and the rate estimation model PhysRate that enable non-contact physiological signal measurements without markers using the low-cost color camera. We introduce the constraint term guided by scene information into the original DeepPhys model to mitigate the overfitting problem of the original DeepPhys model. The results of validation experiments in ICU observation ward show that the modified DeepPhys model can effectively counteract the overfitting problem of the original DeepPhys model. The experimental results of PhysRate indicate that it exhibits certain performance improvements compared to other rate prediction models. In terms of system integration, the proposed physiological signal detection monitor includes Raspberry Pi 4B, RGB camera, 4G module, mobile power, and mobile terminal. With the help of above five modules, the system can analyze the captured signals at the edge and then transmit the processed data to the cloud via 4G network. The edge side is equipped with physiological signal detection model and the other data processing algorithms.
