For a fixed camera array, the limited number of views restricts the quality of the imaging result. In this paper, we build a virtual dense camera array using different views from a single moving camera to increase the number of view conveniently. A virtual plane + parallax based calibration algorithm is proposed to estimate the relative positions between different views. The main characteristics of this system and calibration approach include: (1) Due to the mobility, one can vary views in the light of different scene configurations. (2) Via calibrating the moving camera under the plane + parallax framework, the computation cost of aligning images from all views is reduced. (3) A moving camera system is set up by mounting a camera on a translating stage which can slide on a linear track. Extensive experiment results demonstrate that our approach can enhance detail and quality of the occluded objects effectively compared to the fixed camera array synthetic aperture imaging approach. © Springer-Verlag 2013.

Missing feature theory (MFT) has shown great potential for robust speaker recognition in noisy environments. Accurate estimation of binary mask is crucial in MFT-based speaker recognition. This paper addresses the speaker verification problem using MFT in a practical scenario: the location of target speaker is fixed while the locations of noise interferences are unknown. Specifically, we propose a dual-microphone semi-blind approach to estimate the binary mask. During system initialization, a spatial location model for the target is trained precisely. Then a spatial model for corrupted speech is obtained on-line by model adaptation. Finally, the binary mask is estimated by likelihood comparison. Moreover, we propose a reliable frame selection method to further focus on the reliable speech frames for missing data speaker recognition. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed approach achieves substantial improvements in recognition performance in both white noise and speech corrupted conditions. © 2012 IEEE.

Airport recognition plays an important role in many computer vision tasks. This paper proposes a novel method for airport recognition including the generation of clustering threshold adaptively and automatically based on local-global joint decision. The novelties of the approach include: (1) a new adaptive clustering framework we called local-global joint decision based clustering is designed instead of a fixed threshold. (2) Within the special framework, we propose a statistical probability model based on a new local feature as the preliminary decision strategy which provide local information. (3) Another part of the framework we called reconfirmation strategy contains an innovative relative similarity model that uses global information to estimate the confidence coefficient of the result from preliminary decision. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of our approach. In addition, our method outperforms the related algorithms in terms of recognition accuracy under a variety of situations. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

This paper proposes a novel method to see-through occlusion and automatically focuses on object with high-level imaging quality using camera array. Even with the amazing perspective identity, synthetic aperture imaging still suffers from blurs and disturbance caused by occlusion. The novelties of the approach include: (1) Rather than using the direct observed images to achieve synthetic aperture image, this paper raises the idea to synthesize edge image, which synthetic binary images after edge detection. (2) Based on the special data identity of camera array, this paper proposes an "Auto-Cut" segmentation idea, which could upgrade interactive cut method, such as GrowCut, GrabCut and Graph Cut, to a totally automatic method. (3) This paper proposes an automatically selecting the focal depth method which could yield a convincing estimation even under serious occluded situation. The feasibility of our approach is experimentally demonstrated. A multi-view images based improved synthetic aperture imaging system has been set up, and experimental results with qualitative and quantitative analysis demonstrate that the method can improve imaging quality and resist occlusion in challenge scene. © Springer-Verlag 2013.

This paper presents a novel lexical-similarity-based approach to automatic story segmentation in broadcast news. When measuring the connection between a pair of sentences, we take two factors into consideration, i.e. the lexical similarity and the distance between them in the text stream. Further investigation of pairwise connections between sentences is based on the technique of Laplacian Eigenmaps (LE). Taking advantage of the LE algorithm, we construct a Euclidean space in which each sentence is mapped to a vector. The original connective strength between sentences is reflected by the Euclidean distances between the corresponding vectors in the target space of the map. Further analysis of the map leads to a straightforward criterion for optimal segmentation. Then we formalize story segmentation as a minimization problem and give a dynamic programming solution to it. Experimental results on the TDT2 corpus show that the proposed method outperforms several state-of-the-art lexical-similarity-based methods. ©2010 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a novel approach for human posture estimation using geometry model. A volumetric reconstruction of a participant is obtained from multi-camera images. After definition of body model, the geometry model is fitted into the 3D human reconstructed volume. The gray theory, which is applicable to the prediction problem of a time-varying nonlinear system, is utilized to perform the forecasting job during tracking. Moreover, a hierarchical estimation is applied to avoid local optimum. Finally the posture is gained from the geometric parameter. Experimental results show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm and precision of posture estimation.

In this demonstration, we introduce our recent progress on speech and auditory technologies for potential ubiquitous, immersive and personalized applications. The first demo shows an intelligent spoken question answering system, which enables users to interact with a talking avatar via natural speech dialogues. The prototype system demonstrates our latest development on automatic speech recognition, keyword spotting, personalized text-to-speech synthesis and visual speech synthesis. The second demo exhibits a virtual concert with immersive audio effects. Through our virtual auditory technology, wearing simple earphones, listeners are able to experience immersive concert audio effects from an ordinary music file. We believe the technologies shown in the two demos can be easily deployed in many significant applications. © 2010 IEEE.

In this paper, a revised version of non-local means denoising method is proposed. Different from the original non-local means method in which the algorithm is processed on a pixel-wise basis, the proposed method using image patches to implement non-local means denoising. Given that some details, texture and structure information will be smoothed out when performing weighted averaging, we carry out a pre-processing procedure to classify the image patches into several clusters according to their feature similarities. Later, the weights needed in non-local means algorithm is calculated between image patches in the same cluster. By this means, the above mentioned detail, texture and structure can be preserved due to the redundancy in similar image patches. We illustrate the overall algorithm's performance via several experiments. The results indicate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © Springer-Verlag 2013.

With consideration of communication link attacks, the distributed predefined-time consensus control issue of multi-agent systems is studied. First, a distributed resilient predefined-time observer is introduced to obtain an exact estimation of the states of the leader within predefined time. Second, a predefined-time consensus control protocol is proposed. The rigorous proof demonstrates that all follower agents can reach a common state within predefined time. At last a numerical example is presented to show the effectiveness of the resilient predefined-time controller. © 2022 IEEE.

Automatic detecting and tracking the objects from UAV videos is very important and challenging for both tactical and security applications. We present a robust object tracking system that is able to track multiple objects robustly in UAV videos. The main characteristics of the proposed system include: (1)A novel feature clustering based multiple objects tracking framework is proposed, which performs much better than the traditional foreground-blob- tracking-based methods. (2)Optical flow features are clustered both in spatial and temporal dimension to track multiple objects robustly even in the case of multiple objects cross moving. Extensive experimental results with quantitative and qualitative analysis demonstrate the robustness and effectiveness of our algorithm. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
