Facile design of label-free electrochemical immunosensor using AuNPs@ZIF-8@f-MWCNTs for CA-125 detection in ovarian cancer

The early diagnosis of ovarian cancer (OC) is a critical factor in the effective treatment and improved patient outcomes. This study presents a facile design label-free electrochemical immunosensor, a biomarker associated with OC, for high-sensitivity detection of CA-125. Our approach, which involves an immobilization strategy utilizing nanocomposites of gold nanoparticles/zeolitic imidazolate framework-8/carboxylic acid-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (AuNPs@ZIF-8@f-MWCNTs), has significant potential for the early diagnosis of OC. The synergistic effect of AuNPs, ZIF-8, and f-MWCNTs within the nanocomposites enhances stability, electrical conductivity, and electrochemical signal while providing a large surface area with numerous binding sites for increased Ab loading. When used as electrode material for CA-125 detection, the AuNPs@ZIF-8@f-MWCNTs demonstrate a detection range of 10 to 10⁻⁶ µg/mL with a lower detection limit (LOd) of 1 pg/mL. This paper elaborates the binary bin distribution of each syntax element in AVS3. The overall syntax elements in AVS3 can be divided into Context-Modeled(CM) Bin, Bypass(BPS) Bin, Weighted Context-Modeled(WCM) Bin. A comprehensive and quantitative analysis on these bitstreams are conducted and the result is shown in Fig. 1. Moreover, Fig. 2 illustrates the distribution of CM Bin, BPS Bin, and WCM Bin across various resolutions and QPs. The analysis reveals insightful correlations between the types of binary symbols and syntax elements within the AVS3 bitstream. Through this analysis, we aim to contribute to the implementation of AVS3 codecs.

This study evaluates the feasibility of a municipal solid waste incineration-based power generation system in dhaka, Bangladesh, addressing critical issues of waste management and energy deficits driven by rapid urbanization. A 10 MW waste-to-energy facility operating at 22.5% efficiency was analyzed using key economic metrics, including Net Present Value (NPV), Payback Period, Internal rate of return (Irr), Modified Internal rate of return (MIrr), Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), and Levelized Cost of Waste (LCOW). The analysis reveals an NPV of $4.99 million, an Irr exceeding 10%, and a payback period of 11.06 years, indicating economic viability. Additionally, the plant is projected to reduce annual CO2 emissions by 0.045 million tons, contributing to environmental sustainability. The findings demonstrate that waste-to-energy technology offers a viable solution for mitigating urban waste challenges while enhancing energy security, providing a sustainable pathway for dhaka’s development and a model for similar urban context. © 2025, The Authors. Background: The percentage of coverage by host bone required to achieve adequate initial cement cup fixation has not yet been determined. Therefore, in this study, we evaluated the relationship between the acetabular bone coverage and the initial cup fixation strength. Methods: Three different defect models were used as minimum fixation models in this study along with two reconstructed models (a cup center-edge angles −10°, −5°, 0°, the bulk cement model, and the bulk bone model). Five each of models were prepared for testing. A cyclic loading test was performed to assess the initial stability of the cup based on the vertical displacement of the femoral head. All models were subjected to cyclic load testing for one million cycles. Findings: Under cyclic loading conditions, vertical displacement of the femoral head gradually increased as the cup center-edge angle changed from 0° to −10°, with vertical displacement at the end of the test for each model being greatest at the cup center-edge angle of −10° and least at the cup center-edge angle 0°. A statistical significance was observed in all comparisons among the individual models. (P 0° to ensure long-term stability in case of primary total hip arthroplasty cases. © 2025 The Authors

The diagonal compressor is one of the important types of combined compressors for large-scale compressed air energy storage system (CAES). The off-design performance prediction is crucial in the research and development of the diagonal compressor. It can not only quickly evaluate the initial design parameters, but also select the overall optimal parameters according to the characteristics of the off-design operation of the compressor in CAES. The accuracy of the performance prediction model is essential. In this paper, a one dimensional performance prediction program for the diagonal compressor of the developing large-scale CAES is established by programming, and the optimal selection result of the loss model combination of the program is given through the design point parameters. Then, the off-design loss model is modified by using the flow coefficient, and the results are verified by CFd. The results show that this method can effectively predict the off-design performance of the diagonal compressor under different guide vane openings. © 2025 Science Press. All rights reserved.

The classification of small, low-observable airborne targets, such as drones and birds, poses significant challenges due to their low detection rates. Conventional vision sensorbased approaches often suffer from reduced performance in low-visibility environments or adverse weather conditions. Additionally, the integration of infrared sensors alongside camera sensors increases hardware complexity and cost, rendering such solutions inefficient. To address these limitations, we propose a method that leverages deep learning and inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAr) imaging for accurate target classification, using only radar sensors. Our proposed deep learning-based ISAr image classifier comprises two key components: simulated ISAr image generation and deep learning-based classification. We construct simulated ISAr datasets using point scatter (PS) modeling for quadcopter drones, hexacopter drones, and aircraft, and three-dimension (3d) mesh modeling for birds, unmanned aerial vehicles, and quadcopter drones. The two datasets based on PS and 3d mesh modeling are used to train a proposed deep learning classifier. The proposed classifier can achieve a classification accuracy of $\mathbf{9 8 \%}$ on the PS-based dataset and $\mathbf{9 6 \%}$ on the 3d mesh-based dataset, where scattering was calculated using the physical optics method.

Background: All-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) are gaining more attention due to their advantages, primarily utilizing sulfide as a solid electrolyte. However, several challenges persist, such as decreasing ionic conductivity, increasing internal resistance, and rapid cycle life decay caused by the formation of inactive Na2S, and NaMS2 (M=P/Sb, etc.) byproducts. To suppress Na+ dendrite formation during charge and discharge, make them reversible, and achieve high specific capacity, we aim to implement the strategies proposed in previous literature to enhance electrochemical performance. Methods: In this review, we focus on practical strategies to overcome the challenges of all-solid-state batteries. These include selecting suitable synthesis methods, doping elements to create flexible Na⁺ pathways, applying polymer coatings, and using composite solid electrolytes to suppress Na⁺ dendrite formation and interface reactions at Na electrode sides. We also discuss strategies for improving specific capacity and cell performance by optimizing external thermal and pressure conditions. Sulfide solid electrolytes offer high ionic conductivity and favorable mechanical properties, making them ideal for high-performance sodium-ion batteries. Significant findings: The paper concludes with a call for ongoing research in materials science and engineering to overcome the remaining barriers and fully realize the potential of sodium solid-state batteries. By addressing the outlined challenges and implementing the suggested strategies, development more robust and efficient ASSBs could be developed faster, paving the way for their broader adoption in energy storage technologies. © 2025 Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers

Botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNT/A) has been used as an injectable therapeutic agent in medical aesthetics, neuroscience research, and other medical fields. In this study, the non-endotoxin-producing and food-safe bacterium Bacillus subtilis WB800N was selected as the host strain to express functional rVG29-BoNT/A light chain (Lc) fusion proteins through a combinatorial strategy involving promoter engineering, signal peptide optimization, and overexpression of transport-related proteins and molecular chaperones. The rVG29 peptide, known for its neuronal targeting ability, was fused to the Lc of BoNT/A to enhance its transmembrane delivery and substrate cleavage activity. Furthermore, a series of promoter screening, tandem promoter construction, and site-specific mutations were conducted to maximize transcriptional activity of the target protein. Moreover, a library of 244 native signal peptides was constructed, and high-throughput fluorescence screening identified Sec pathway-related signal peptides that significantly improved secretion efficiency. Meanwhile, transport-related proteins, particularly FtsY, and molecular chaperones like GroEL/dnaJ, were overexpressed to further enhance the secretion and soluble expression of the rVG29-Lc. Additionally, knockdown of the hrcA gene, a repressor of heat-shock genes, improved the expression of molecular chaperones, as well as the rVG29-Lc. The combinatorial strategy achieved a final intracellular expression level of 500.33 ± 5.00 mg/L and the secretion level of 75.15 ± 4.33 mg/L under the same experimental conditions. This work presents a robust framework for the high-efficiency production of functional rVG29-Lc fusion proteins in B. subtilis, offering valuable insights into the industrial-scale production of therapeutic BoNT-derived proteins. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

This study presents a mathematical modeling framework that leverages recurrent neural networks (rNNs), specifically echo state networks (ESNs) and long short-term memory (LSTM) architectures, for the predictive modeling of electrical submersible pumps (ESPs) in offshore oil extraction operations. Utilizing real operational data from an offshore oil field, the research addresses the inherent complexity and nonlinear dynamics of ESP systems by employing these recurrent structures to capture and represent the temporal dependencies within the data. Key challenges, such as data noise, variability, and limited diversity, are systematically tackled to ensure robust dynamic modeling. A comparative analysis evaluates the performance of ESN and LSTM models under these constrained data conditions, aiming to identify the superior model in terms of predictive accuracy and resilience. The modeling approach emphasizes the formulation, parameterization, and validation processes essential for effective ESP optimization and control in real-world industrial settings. Findings reveal the distinct strengths and limitations of each rNN variant when applied to offshore operational data.
