Nowadays, embedded system is replacement products combined with specific object and highly advancedtechnology. With the purpose to transplant U-boot onto target board cored with S3C2440, technical difficulties during transplantation are listed. By analyzing working method of bootloader, U-boot was transplanted successfully, and this got good preparation for booting embedded Linux OS correctly. Compared to existing papers on bootloader transplantation, the importance of this paper is focused on solution to device compatibility problems, which hasn't been mentioned up to now.

An image retrieval approach combined with relevance feedback is proposed. A set of blobs that are generated from image features using clustering can be used to describe an image. Given a training set of images with annotations, we apply probabilistic models to predict the probability of a blob in image according to the query words. For improving the initial query results, we apply a relevance feedback mechanism to bridge the semantic gap, leading to the improved image retrieval accuracy. A support vector machine classifier can be learned from training data of relevance images and irrelevance images labeled by users. Experimental results show that the proposed approach obtains higherretrieval accuracy than a commonly used approach.

To improve the performance of image retrieval, we propose an image retrieval method based on similarity calculation of visual objects in images. Firstly, one image is segmented and clustered several visual objects. By means of the keyword library, we calculate one probability vector, which is composed by probability of every visual object of the image and every keyword of the keyword library. So a total probability vector of one image can been attain. Then we calculate a content similarity according to two images' probability vectors, thereby we can realize image retrieval. The end, Ground Truth database is adopted experimental image library in this paper. The method attains good effect based on experimental result.

This paper presents anddemonstrates a simple andreliable electronic circuitry for photovoltaic energy harvesting which best suited for powering marine instrumentations. The main functions of the designed circuitry are: i) tracking the maximum power point of the photovoltaic cells which are subject to continuous movements due to sea waves, ii) power conversion and management of energy storages with a high efficiency; and iii) achieving a high level of reliability for operation of circuit in a harsh marine environment. The proposed circuitry is designed based on an analog controller which implements a sensor-less algorithm for maximum power point tracking. The power converter unit includes a simple buck converter with minimum electronic components. Compared with dSP-baseddigital controllers, the simplicity of the proposed analog controller highly improves reliability of the power conversion unit. The total power consumption of the electronic circuit is in the range of a few milliwatts. This enhances the overall efficiency of power conversion especially in low power (a few watt) applications such as powering of marine and metrological sensors. The circuitry also includes a control unit for battery charging to protect batteries against overcharging. The performance of the designed circuitry is experimentally demonstrated using a test setup for power management unit of an ocean-graphical buoy.

The properties and characteristics of micro-scale Capillary Plasma Electrode discharges (CPEds) were investigated. We examined the basic discharge characteristics of AC-type micro-scale CPEds as a function of the L/dratio. Using the basis of the previous findings, we applied the CPEd concept to the design of a commercial plasma display panel and compared the discharge characteristics with those of a conventional dBd-based PdP. The optimum parameters for micro-scale CPEd are L/dratio = ∼0.5, diameter (d) = 125 μm, length (L) = 70 μm, total dielectric thickness (T) = 90 μm. The luminous efficiency of the optimized CPEd structure is higher than that of dBd structure with same dielectric thickness. However, by comparison with dBd structure with T= 45 μm which is somewhat higherdielectric thickness than current conventional PdP (T= ∼30 μm) but has almost similardischarge characteristic, there is no noticeable difference in the luminous efficiency.

This paper analyzes there are some limitations of video data sending for current 3G video phone. A 3G video phone solution forreducing the delay of video data is proposed. The solution proposed in this work mainly consists of software components, according to which hardware needs to be selected. It also gives the video phone terminal structure, block diagram for H.324 M video phone terminal, the main software functional blocks and the implementation flow chart of each module. The delay of video data is significantly reduced by adding video phone setting module and I/P frames sending and management module. As well as by the use of software enabling video encoder to dynamically send I frame of the algorithm according to current network status.

The aim of the present research was to investigate the influence of different substrate roughness on structure and mechanical properties of Titanium Aluminium Nitride (TiAlN) coatings. Tungsten carbide rectangular block was used as substrate. different surface roughness was achieved by using grinding discs with different grain sizes anddiamond polishing powder, and TiAlN coatings were deposited on these substrates under the same preparation technique and parameters. Morphologies of substrates and coatings, crystal structure, thickness and mechanical properties of coatings were investigated using optical microscope, AFM, Xrd, CSM scratch tester and tribometer. It was shown that surface morphology of cathodic arc TiAlN coating was mainly affected by the morphology of the substrate surface and the coating growth process. The influence of substrate roughness on crystal structure and thickness of the coatings could be ignored. With the decreasing of the substrate roughness, the adhesion force between coating and substrate increased. Three stresses model was applied to interpret this result. The wearresistance of the coating was also improved with decreasing the substrate roughness.

Inkjet technology was used in a mass production process to form an alignment layer on high-temperature polysilicon TFT liquid crystal panels used in LCd projectors. This is the first-ever inkjet process for forming alignment layers in an LCd manufacturing process. Surface treatment, inkjet ejection, and post-print drying processes were integrated, and process conditions and printing materials were optimized, thereby sharply improving display quality while reducing process environmental impact.

The lightning damage is one of the most serious problems for wind turbine generator systems anddistribution/transmission lines. direct lightning strokes to a wind tower or a blade frequently cause damages in the wind turbine generator systems. direct lightning strokes to a distribution line have been considered for lightning protection design. The lightning back-flow current is also an important factor for the lightning protection design of a distribution line. Thus, the lightning protection design of a wind turbine generator system must consider lightning overvoltages coming from a distribution line anddamage to the distribution line. Insulation coordination should be considered forrational lightning protection design. This paperdiscusses an insulation coordination design of a wind turbine and a distribution line. Simulations are carried out by the EMTP for such parameters as lightning current and grounding resistance.
