Charge equalization scheme for HEV lithium-ion battery system is proposed in this paper, where all the primary windings with in parallel bi-directional switches are coupled in series to provide the equalizing energy from the whole battery string to the specific under charged cells. Moreover, to realize minimized size of equalization circuit employing the proposed cell balancing scheme, the optimal powerrating design rule according to equalization time and SOC distribution of imbalance is proposed. A prototype of HEV lithium-ion battery system of four cells shows the outstanding charge equalization performance while maintaining greatly reduced size of cell balancing circuit.

At indoor environment, a service robot must know where it is at any time. Thus, reliable position estimation is a basic and key problem. Probabilistic robotics techniques have become one of the dominant paradigms for algorithm design in robotics. recent work on Monte Carlo Localization with particle-baseddensity representation becomes popular. In this paper we introduce the multi-sensor based Monte Carlo localization (MCL) method which represents a robot's belief by a set of weighted samples and use the laserrange finder (LrF) sensor to measurement update. The new monomers containing trifluoromethyl and pyridine heterocyclic group were successfully prepared in high purity and used to synthesize a series of polyimides (PIs). These polyimides were amorphous and exhibited excellent solubility in various organic solvents such as THF, NMP, dMAc, dMF, pyridine, dMSO and cyclohexanone at room temperature or upon heating at 70 ℃ and the polyimides were converted into color lightness, optically transparent, flexible and tough films by casting on glass from dMAc solutions. These polyimides showed good thermal stability both in nitrogen and air (Td10>450 ℃) and their Tgs were above 230 ℃. The polyimide films had tensile strength of 80-120 MPa and tensile modulus of 1.5-2.5 GPa. The polyimides containing trifluoromethyl group had low dielectric constants (around 2.5-3.5 at 1 KHz), which are lower than that of nontrifluoromethyl-containing (diamines) polyimides and commercially available polyimides however the polyimides containing pyridine heterocyclic group were high dielectric constant of 4.32 at 1KHz. These fluorine-containing polyimides exhibit highly transparent. Cut-off wavelength: 344~407 nm (Kapton-H: 489 nm). Wavelength of transmittance 80%: 427~496 nm (Kapton-H: transmittance < 80% in 400~800 nm). The polyimides containing pyridine heterocyclic group showed a pair of reversible oxidation redox couples at -1.20 V vs Ag/AgCl in dMF solution and optical properties of theses polymers exhibit the UV-vis absorption bands at the region of 223-400 nm and possess strong green-yellow fluorescent (500 nm) after protonated with acid. These polyimides could be considered as new processable high-performance polymeric materials.

reducing communication overhead is extremely important for parallelizing compiler to generate efficient codes fordistributed memory machines. In this paper, a redundant parallel execution model (rPEM) is used as the model for target programs. The extenddata flow graph is introduced, and optimization algorithms based on the data-flow analysis are discussed. The overhead of data flow analysis can be reduced by performing analysis on the extenddataflow graph. The analysis helps to reduce the redundant communication overhead. These optimization algorithms are able to perform inter-loop and inter-procedure analysis. Experimental results prove that these optimizations algorithms are effective in reducing both the number of communications and the communication volume.

Based on requirement of real-time network video conference for computer supported collaborative product design in Web environment, a pure software multi-user video conference system of the similarity B/S structure was developed. JMF (Java media framework) was adopted to achieve system development. Transmission and control of multimedia data were implemented by the streaming media technology of transport and control in conference process. By way of using real-time transport protocol (rTP) andreal-time transport control protocol (rTCP), the performance and quality of conference data streams were dynamic monitored. Streaming media reception and send services of conference process were achieved by programming mechanisms of JMF rTP. Based-on Java Bean, Servlet and Applet program design languages, the system framework and client browser program design were completed, integration with product data management (PdM) system was implemented. The system provides a multimedia supporting platform for knowledge exchange and sharing in collaborative design process.

A roller straightening process is a metal forming technique to improve the geometric quality of products such as straightness and flatness. The geometrical quality can be enhanced by eliminating unnecessary deformations producedduring upstream manufacturing processes and minimizing any detrimental internal stress during the roller straightening process. The quality of steel cords can be achieved by the roller straightening depends the process parameters. Such process parameters are the roll intermesh, the roll pitch, the diameter of rolls, the number of rolls and the applied tension. This paper is concerned with the design optimization of the roller straightening process for steel cords with the aid of elasto‐plastic finite element analysis. Effects of the process parameters on the straightness of the steel cord are investigated by the finite element analysis. Based on the analysis results, the optimization of the roller straightening process is performed by the response surface method. The roller straightening process using optimum design parameters is carried out in order to confirm the quality of the final products.

Space charge formation in polyimide (PI) films heavily depends upon the water content. In order to clarify the effect of carrier injection on space charge properties in PI films, space charge distributions were observed in the PI films with different electrode conditions, such as aluminium (Al) or gold (Au) deposited on the both surfaces of the PI films. In each sample, positive and negative homo space charges were observed near the respective electrodes and theirdistribution profiles were similar to each other. No remarkable effects of electrode materials were observed. The space charge behavior in PI films may be explained by assuming surface states and carrier traps or surface region where carrier generation takes place.

Silicon carbide (SiC) is expanding its application field as a next generation compound semiconductor because of its significant advantages in high power, high frequency, low coefficient of thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity. For the manufacturing of SiC to semiconductor substrate, many researchers have studied on the subject of SiC polishing. However, it is difficult to polish without defects such as scratches and subsurface damages, because SiC is a chemically and mechanically stable material. Therefore, hybrid process, chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) has been proposed to achieve epi-ready surface followed by fine diamond polishing. In this paper, the material removal rate (Mrr) is investigated to recognize how long the CMP process continues to remove a damaged layer by mechanical polishing using 100 nm sizeddiamond, and find the dependency of mechanical factors such as pressure, velocity and abrasive concentration using NaOH based colloidal silica slurry. Especially, the authors tried to get an epi-ready surface with mixed abrasive slurry (MAS), in order to increase the removal activity and balance between mechanical and chemical factors in CMP process.

recently, fuzzy logic control has widely received attention in various power system applications, despite difficulties of obtaining its control rules and membership functions. Nowadays, power system consists of multiple areas where load variations with abrupt changes always exist, and proper control rules and membership functions could be hardly achieved. This paper proposes a practical design of fuzzy logic controllers for superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) based on wide area synchronized phasor measurement for improving stability of interconnected power system. Moreover, a heuristic method is applied fordetermining control rules and membership functions. The estimated model is determined via a coupled vibration model fordetection and assessment of an approximated inter-area oscillation mode. Finally, some simulation studies based on a two-area four-machine power system are carried out to examine the performance and effectiveness of the designed fuzzy SMES controller.
