Most existing multimodal named entity recognition (MNEr) methods cannot align image and text well, and fail to effectively fuse image-text semantic information, leading to suboptimal MNEr accuracy. To this end, this paper proposes a novel named entity recognition model based on Contrastive Learning and Multimodal Semantic Interaction (named CLMSI). Specifically, to narrow the semantic gap between image-text modalities, making semantically similar image-text representations closer and pushing dissimilar ones further apart, we propose a contrastive learning-based cross-modal alignment method. Moreover, to integrate multimodal information effectively and filter out the noise introduced by image features as thoroughly as possible, we propose to incorporate image descriptions as additional features to enrich the multimodal representation and to reduce the semantic bias of the image information. Extensive experiments conducted on two MNEr benchmark datasets, Twitter-2015 and Twitter-2017, demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method. Further ablation studies and case analyses also affirm the efficacy of CLMSI. © 2024 IEEE.

To achieve a sustainable low-carbon society and stable power supply to local areas, a self-sustaining distributed energy system' is proposed and evaluated. The system consists of multiple stand-alone small grids ('nanogrids') that utilize renewable energy sources and multiple electric vehicles (EVs) serving as power-interchange agents among nanogrids and as means of regional mobility. Two technologies required for constructing the system were developed. The first is 'nanogrid power-flow modeling' enabling quantitative evaluation including electricity loss in general nanogrid power systems including AC and dC nanogrids. The second is a 'powermanagement algorithm' for multiple-electric-vehicle operations using simulated annealing in which power consumption by moving EVs is considered. Also, a simulation environment that enables quantitative evaluation of the proposed system using regional demand data was built. The performance of the system, in the case that three nanogrids were installed in Iwamizawa city, Hokkaido, was evaluated by simulation. According to the results of the simulation (performed for 365 days), as compared to the electricity loss in the case of an AC system, that in the case of a dC system was reduced by 8%. Also, in the case of the dC system, the power supply from external power grids was reduced by 33% by increasing the number of EVs. These results suggest that the higher efficiency of the dC nanogrid system makes it more suitable for regional energy supply. © 2023 IEEE.

Indoor positioning technologies for IoT sensing are attracting attention. We are currently exploring standard indoor positioning methods using IEEE 802.11 / Wi-Fi. In this paper, we utilize the IEEE802.11-2016 FTM (Fine Timing Measurement) protocol, which enables to calculate distances between devices and access points (APs). The ranging accuracy of FTM, however, varies depending on multipath propagation of wireless signals and device-specific factors. Therefore, we implemented FTM on two models, Google Pixel4 and Zenfone9, and conducted experiment studies in the gymnasium and corridor of our school to evaluate position detection accuracy. In the gymnasium, the average error was 1.42 m for Zenfone9, while 1.07 m for Pixel4. In the corridor, the average error was 0.66m for Zenfone9, whereas 2.47 m for Pixel4.

With the popularization and construction of the new power system, the amount of data to be processed by the power automation system will increase explosively, and the original mode of main and standby machines will no longer meet the demand. At present, some dynamic scheduling algorithms studied in the industry do not consider the security, reliability and real-time requirements of power system. By studying the characteristics of some existing scheduling algorithms and the implementation principle of container technology, this paper proposes a container based elastic scaling technology for computing tasks, which can dynamically adjust the resources of each application instance without affecting the resource use of other application instances. At the same time, it supports highly reliable mutual redundancy and real-time switching, and supports the real-time elastic expansion of resources after adding new nodes. Finally, through the test and verification, the technology can support the dynamic allocation and distributed operation of power application resources, switch the active and standby computers in real time in case of failure, support the elastic expansion of resources, and improve the reliability and processing capacity of the upper application.

With the advancement of calligraphy education, an array of intelligent handwriting evaluation systems has emerged to support teaching. However, existing handwriting evaluation systems fall short in analyzing and evaluating individual strokes of Chinese characters. To address this issue, we introduce SSrSE, a Single-Stroke regional Segmentation Evaluation method for hard-pen regular script. Initially, we gather handwritten character images featuring 22 commonly used strokes in hard-pen regular script from primary and secondary schools. These strokes are then categorized into four regions based on their writing patterns, forming a stroke regional segmentation dataset through adjustments in size and region marking. We propose a single-stroke regional segmentation method based on an inverted residual U-net. This involves incorporating an inverse residual structure into the U-network and employing a loss function based on Intersection over Union(IoU) to tackle the imbalance in sample categories. Subsequently, Hu moments are computed for each region post-segmentation of both the copy strokes and template strokes. After mathematical conversion, the extent of image variance is measured, and stroke similarity levels are determined based on weighted assignments. Experimental findings demonstrate the superiority of our segmentation method over traditional approaches in terms of average pixel accuracy. Moreover, the region similarity calculation method yields results akin to manual evaluation, showcasing high feasibility. © 2024 SPIE.

Product movement tracking stands as a pivotal aspect of logistics operations. The ever-expanding application of IoT technologies holds significant potential to enhance product tracking in logistics. However, the rapid expansion of IoT usage has also introduced several challenges, particularly concerning data privacy, security, and transparency. Blockchain technology, through distributed ledger systems, offers a secure and transparent means to manage transactions within a network. In this study, the Hyperledger Fabric blockchain network, chosen for its private and permissioned nature, leverages authentication features to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of data from IoT devices. By integrating the widely adopted MQTT protocol, IoT devices involved in logistics processes communicate effectively with the blockchain network. This study presents a system where IoT devices enable the secure and automated tracking of data through blockchain’s registration and distribution mechanisms, all of which are demonstrated within a simulation environment. developed specifically for the logistics sector, this system holds promising potential to address challenges across various fields.

Wavelet transforms offer multi-resolution analysis capabilities, enabling the extraction of both local and global features from the surface roughness data. This research article presents a comparative evaluation of wavelet transform methods for surface roughness evaluation in the turning of Monel 400 alloy. The purpose of the study was to identify the most precise technique among the various wavelet transform methods. Surface roughness data were collected and analyzed using these methods, and their respective accuracy rates were determined. The stationary wavelet transform (SWT) had the highest accuracy rate of 89.6667%, far higher than the other approaches. TdyWT had an accuracy rate of 83.9733%, 6.4% higher than SWT. EWT accuracy was 88.5389%, 1.3% higher than SWT. The discrete wavelet transform (dWT) had an accuracy rate of 88.444%, 1.2% lower than the SWT. Multi-resolution analysis and noise filtering capabilities of stationary wavelet transform allow for a more thorough examination of surface roughness characteristics. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
