Human-Object Interaction (HOI), as an important problem in computer vision, requires locating the human-object pair and identifying the interactive relationships between them. The HOI instance has a greater span in spatial, scale, and task than the individual object instance, making its detection more susceptible to noisy backgrounds. To alleviate the disturbance of noisy backgrounds on HOI detection, it is necessary to consider the input image information to generate fine-grained anchors which are then leveraged to guide the detection of HOI instances. However, it is challenging for the following reasons. i) how to extract pivotal features from the images with complex background information is still an open question. ii) how to semantically align the extracted features and query embeddings is also a difficult issue. In this paper, a novel end-to-end transformer-based framework (FGAHOI) is proposed to alleviate the above problems. FGAHOI comprises three dedicated components namely, multi-scale sampling (MSS), hierarchical spatial-aware merging (HSAM) and task-aware merging mechanism (TAM). MSS extracts features of humans, objects and interaction areas from noisy backgrounds for HOI instances of various scales. HSAM and TAM semantically align and merge the extracted features and query embeddings in the hierarchical spatial and task perspectives in turn. In the meanwhile, a novel training strategy Stage-wise Training Strategy is designed to reduce the training pressure caused by overly complex tasks done by FGAHOI. In addition, we propose two ways to measure the difficulty of HOI detection and a novel dataset, i.e., HOI-SdC for the two challenges (Uneven distributed Area in Human-Object Pairs and Long distance Visual Modeling of Human-Object Pairs) of HOI instances detection. Experiments are conducted on three benchmarks: HICO-dET, HOI-SdC and V-COCO. Our model outperforms the state-of-the-art HOI detection methods, and the extensive ablations reveal the merits of our

Cyber-physical systems are expected to be an enabler for better control of production systems. They require a combination of heterogeneous sensors and systems processing data from various sources. We present an architecture for cyber-physical production systems for cross-company sensor integration, ensuring the necessary data safety. Its design targets generalizability and performance. A real-life industrial application in the area of optical components polishing demonstrates the benefits.

To achieve a sustainable low-carbon society and stable power supply to local areas, a self-sustaining distributed energy system” is proposed and evaluated. The system consists of multiple stand-alone small grids (“nanogrids”) that utilize renewable energy sources and multiple electric vehicles (EVs) serving as power-interchange agents among nanogrids and as means of regional mobility. Two technologies required for constructing the system were developed. The first is “nanogrid power-flow modeling” enabling quantitative evaluation including electricity loss in general nanogrid power systems including AC and dC nanogrids. The second is a “powermanagement algorithm” for multiple-electric-vehicle operations using simulated annealing in which power consumption by moving EVs is considered. Also, a simulation environment that enables quantitative evaluation of the proposed system using regional demand data was built. The performance of the system, in the case that three nanogrids were installed in Iwamizawa city, Hokkaido, was evaluated by simulation. According to the results of the simulation (performed for 365 days), as compared to the electricity loss in the case of an AC system, that in the case of a dC system was reduced by 8%. Also, in the case of the dC system, the power supply from external power grids was reduced by 33% by increasing the number of EVs. These results suggest that the higher efficiency of the dC nanogrid system makes it more suitable for regional energy supply.

Metallic/ magnetic multilayer systems using a base unit of $[\mathrm{Cu}(100 \mathrm{~nm}) / \mathrm{NiFeCuMo}(100 \mathrm{~nm})] 10$ were investigated as the EMI shielding layer for the sub-100 MHz range. Addition of soft magnetic multilayers was found to exhibit a shielding effect at less than 20 MHz, which may have been originated from domain wall resonance in the base unit. The magneto-static interaction seems to induce magnetic resonances in the other units.

daily store sales prediction using machine learning methods

For the enterprises with chain stores, it is important to know which products are sold in which stores and under which conditions to increase the product sales. Nowadays, the more computer technology develops, the more data collected and analyzed happens. Therefore, the sales forecasting models for the business are unavoidable in the real life. There are many studies int the literature in terms of time series and regression forecasting by using classical statistical models or machine learning models. In these studies, data preprocessing, feature selection and model selection with different parameters are main issues. In this study, the daily sales of a retail store are estimated based on a large sales data with 34472 rows and 37 features except sales amount. After applying data preprocessing such as removing empty rows and standard data normalization, the data set is separated into two parts as training (75%) and test (25%). On the prepared data set, Lasso, MLP, SVr, LSTM regression models were created for the daily sales prediction. Experimental studies were carried out on these models using different parameters. r2, MSE and rMSE metrics are used in the evaluation of the created models. As a future study, the same regression models can be used for weekly and monthly sales predictions.

A reliability analysis study was conducted on the shock absorber used in a certain ship. Firstly, a multi-source uncertainty quantification model was established. different forms of models are used to quantify the uncertainty of loads, geometric shapes, and material properties based on their characteristics. Then, combining Monte-Carlo method with BP neural network surrogate model, the relationship between input variables and output acceleration is established. Finally, based on the surrogate model, the response distribution and reliability of the shock absorber are obtained, which provides a reference for the subsequent structural analysis and optimization. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2023.

Most existing multimodal named entity recognition (MNEr) methods cannot align image and text well, and fail to effectively fuse image-text semantic information, leading to suboptimal MNEr accuracy. To this end, this paper proposes a novel named entity recognition model based on Contrastive Learning and Multimodal Semantic Interaction (named CLMSI). Specifically, to narrow the semantic gap between image-text modalities, making semantically similar image-text representations closer and pushing dissimilar ones further apart, we propose a contrastive learning-based cross-modal alignment method. Moreover, to integrate multimodal information effectively and filter out the noise introduced by image features as thoroughly as possible, we propose to incorporate image descriptions as additional features to enrich the multimodal representation and to reduce the semantic bias of the image information. Extensive experiments conducted on two MNEr benchmark datasets, Twitter-2015 and Twitter-2017, demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method. Further ablation studies and case analyses also affirm the efficacy of CLMSI.

An approximately A4 paper size, 8×8 transmitter is designed for 5.7 GHz microwave power transmission targeting over 100 mW delivery in 3 m distance. The proposed tile-based design achieves up to 68.6 dBm EIrP in CW while maintaining power and cost-effective array scaling. The triangular grid array is employed and optimized as well. This guarantees over 65.0 dBm EIrP for the entire target angle, as well as perfectly grating lobe-free beam steering to avoid unacceptable interference on the existing wireless communication and radar systems.

Cement concrete strength quality is tested by the standard testing methods and the historic test results always documented in the formatted formal reports. They are difficult to gear for quality data analysis from multi-dimensional. Firstly, according to data engineering, the data attributes refer to time and strength quality in original cement concrete test reports are defined, extracted and preprocessed;Secondly, by time sliding windows the historic strength test data are divided into dynamic time periods and the features of mean, variation, median, coefficient of variation, mode, and full distance are constructed during every time period. Finally, the detailed evaluation results of cement concrete strength quality are provided by integrating the multi-features of multi-periods. Experimental results show that the raw data are defined and preprocessed to be less redundancy and reliable by data engineering and the integrated evaluation results become more accuracy and effective by the dynamic time series features. © 2022 IEEE.
