Effects of clean chemical pH on Pr/FM and HM defects for W-CMP are examined. Oxalic acid, dIW, and a QAC-based basic chemicals are evaluated for their Pr/FM cleaning performance and hollow metal generation. Basic clean chemistry is demonstrated to be more efficient for Pr/FM removal but more prone to HM defects. AFM and XPS surface analyses conducted on post W-CMP wafers help discern the cleaning mechanism for W-CMP.

This study describes the lessons learned from designing, deploying and analysing the results from different travel satisfaction survey tools which measures the travellers’ door-to-door travel satisfaction. The travel satisfaction measurement survey tools tested consisted of two types of smartphone applications (a satellite navigation app and a game app), an on-line survey, a paper-based semi-structured questionnaire and a focus group questionnaire. Each of the measurement tools comprised the same set of basic questions, but in different formats, aimed at exploring the pros and cons of each tool among different groups of travellers. The data collection was carried out at eight different European cities and five FIA motorist networks. 5,275 validresponses were gathered from the survey. Further analysis results show that different survey methods performed better in different sites. The satisfaction that was gathered via main trip leg does not necessarily correspond with overall satisfaction of the door-to-door journey. The results of this study highlight the need for more inclusive, complete, door-to-door, travel survey measurements.

An inverse metal only reflectarray antenna consisting of multiple variable height conducting cells is designed at millimeter wave frequency. All reflecting elements are only made up of metal so that there is no dielectric loss in the antenna. Simulation result shows that the radiation efficiency of designed antenna is comparable with conventional parabolic reflector.

In the IGBT as bipolar silicon powerdevice, it is widely used a carrier lifetime control technique, i.e. an inducing a carrier trap level within the silicon band gap by an electron beam irradiation with a post thermal annealing. Sometimes, the electrical characteristics tend to change after the long term usage at high current density, because dC current stress of the high current density affects as if annealing out process at the high temperature. Hence it is necessary to eliminate several unstable shallow trap levels by thermal annealing in wafer process for maintaining the electrical characteristics stabilities. On the other hand, the trap levels originated in a very small amount of residual carbon (C) and/or oxygen (O) sometimes make the stabilities of electrical characteristics complicated. When we analyze this phenomenon, Photo-Luminescence (PL) is easy to grasp tendencies and is better than Cathode-Luminescence (CL). In this paper, through PL, we investigated silicon wafers of Floating Zone (FZ) and Magnetic Czochralski (MCZ) and studied the relationship between electrical characteristics andresidual C &/or O in silicon mothermaterials which are the different of the diameter and/or the manufacturing methods.

Ball bearing is widely used in a variety of machines including the transportation equipments of the automobiles and airplanes. Flaking failure is a common problem for ball bearing and it is caused by shear-mode fatigue crack growth under cyclic shear stress. Further, it is known that the premature flaking is attributed to the combined effect of hydrogen penetration into the material and cyclic shear stress during the operation. Therefore, in order to ensure the integrity of ball bearing, it is necessary to clarify the effect of hydrogen on shear-mode fatigue crack growth behavior, in particular, the threshold behavior. The evaluation of the shear-mode crack growth behavior is not easy because mode I crack branching occurs easily. Our previous studies revealed that it is required to apply static compression in the direction of specimen axis to attain a stable shear-mode fatigue crack growth. In addition, successive hydrogen supply to the specimen is essential for the evaluation of hydrogen effect on the fatigue threshold because hydrogen emits from the specimen during the fatigue test. In other words, the hydrogen-precharging method, commonly used for the research on hydrogen embrittlement, is not appropriate for the evaluation of fatigue threshold. In this study, to solve these problems, we have developed a novel, easy-to-use experimental method to evaluate the threshold behavior of shear-mode fatigue crack in the presence of hydrogen. The fundamental principle of the method is introduced in this paper.

rolling bearings facilitate the smooth motion of moving mechanical transmission devices substantially reducing the energy loss. However, flaking failure caused in bearings by rolling contact fatigue can crucially deteriorate the integrity of an overall mechanical system composed using bearings. It is understood nowadays that this phenomenon is intimately associated with shear-mode (Mode II and III) fatigue crack growth caused by cyclic shear stress in the presence of large compression. Further, a problem has become of importance that the premature flaking in ball bearings could be caused by the assistance of the penetration of hydrogen into materialduring the operation. In this study, torsional fatigue test of a bearing steel (JIS SUJ2) was performed by using a newly-developed method of continuous hydrogen-charging. Based on the microscopic observation, it was found that continuous hydrogen-charging had an influence on the shear-mode fatigue crack growth behavior in the high-cycle fatigue regime andreduced the threshold level.

Every year, millions of individuals throughout the world are seriously affected by dengue virus. The unavailability of a vaccine and of anti-viral drugs has made this mosquito-borne disease a serious health concern. Not only does dengue cause fatalities but it also has a profoundly negative economic impact. In recent decades, extensive research has been performed on epidemiology, vector biology, life cycle, pathogenesis, vaccine development and prevention. Although dengue research is still not at a stage to suggest definite hopes of a cure, encouraging significant advances have providedremarkable progress in the fight against infection. recent developments indicate that both anti-viral drug and vaccine research should be pursued, in parallel with vector control programs.

We report on a study focusing on UV exposure conditions in three different types of chambers used for accelerated ageing of materials. The first chamber is equipped with four 300-W UVA/UVB mercury vapour lamps (Ultra-Vitalux/Osram). The second chamber uses four 40-W UVA fluorescent lamps (QUV-340/Q-Lab). The third chamber is Weather-Ometer Ci3000+ from Atlas with a 4500-W xenon arc lamp. UV irradiance prevailing in each chamber was measured using Bentham dM150 double monochromator spectroradiometer. The results were compared to measurements of solar spectral UV irradiance at Jokioinen, Finland, with a Brewer MkIII double monochromator spectrophotometer. The spectral shapes of the exposing UV radiation in the different chambers were found to notably differ from each other and from the solar UV spectrum. Both spatial inhomogeneities and temporal variability caused by various factors, like the ageing of the lamps, were detected. The effects were found to strongly depend on wavelength of the exposing UV radiation. The findings of this study underline the necessity of careful characterization of the UV exposure conditions provided by the facilities used in accelerated testing of materials.
