The uniform corrosion behavior of model FeCrAl alloys as well as commercial Zircaloy-4 as reference material were investigated in 360℃borated and lithiated *** results reveal that FeCrAl alloys exhibited better corrosion resistance than *** is found that the oxide films formed on the FeCrAl alloys are composed of outer Fe_(3)O_(4)layer,inner layer consisting of compact spinel layer and porous spinel layer,and transition layer containing Al-Cr-rich oxides and matrix enriched with Fe°.The spinel oxides in the inner layer are FeFe_(2-x-y-z)Cr_(x)Al_(y)MozO_(4).The corrosion mechanism of FeCrAl alloys in high temperature water is discussed.

A full-scale experimental house to develop comprehensive passive cooling techniques for affordable apartments in the hot and humid climate of Indonesia was constructed in the city of Tegal in 2020. It is a 2- to 3-storey apartment building with a pilotis on the ground floor, consisting of 12 units with a total floor area of approximately 2000 m2. This study explains the passive design concept of the experimental house, focusing on the ventilation strategies using a vertical void, and presents the results of a preliminary field measurement of indoor thermal environments. Major thermal parameters were measured under different ventilation conditions. The results showed that the structural cooling effect by the nocturnal ventilation was apparent, but it was difficult to achieve indoor thermal comfort during the peak hours by the nocturnal ventilation alone. This implies that further additional passive cooling techniques such as radiant floor cooling and evaporative cooling are necessary. Moreover, the effect of indoor wind speed on thermal comfort of the tropical occupants should be considered more in detail. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has brought about a significant revolution in image processing. This revolutionary technology has enabled the analysis, recognition, and interpretation of images in ways that were previously inconceivable. An investigation into the most recent developments in artificial intelligence techniques that have improved the efficiency and precision of image processing tasks is presented in this study. We survey the emergence of transformer architectures and the integration of deep learning models, namely Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), to explore how these technologies have transformed the understanding and application of images in several industries. An overview of existing image processing methods and the limits of those approaches is presented at the beginning of our research. This highlights the necessity of more advanced AI-driven solutions. After that, we examine the advancements that have been made in artificial intelligence, such as the incorporation of attention processes, the development of more effective CNN architectures, and the utilisation of generative adversarial networks (GANs) for the purpose of picture synthesis and augmentation. The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact that artificial intelligence has on particular applications of image processing, such as autonomous car navigation systems, facial recognition, medical imaging, and satellite images analysis. Specifically, we focus on the enhancements in diagnostic accuracy, environmental monitoring, security, and safety that arose as a result of the adoption of artificial intelligence in these sectors through the use of case studies. Furthermore, we discuss the issues that are associated with artificial intelligence in image processing. These challenges include the necessity for explainable AI models, the requirement for computational resources, and the protection of data privacy. A number of potential solutions to these problems

Portable electronic gadgets and high-performance computing systems have increased demand for low-power, high-performance integrated circuits (ICs). VLSI technology, which creates integrated circuits with dozens to millions of transistors on a chip, is leading these efforts. This research investigates low-power, high-performance VLSI circuit construction methods. We start with VLSI design fundamentals and power management and performance optimization concerns. The constraints of traditional VLSI design methods in satisfying current electronics' strict requirements are examined. VLSI design methodology development and evaluation are the focus of this research. Advanced power optimization methods include MTCMOS, adaptive body biasing, and power gating. We also study clock tree improvement, signal integrity enhancement, and new materials and device topologies for high performance. In addition, we study how machine learning techniques automate and optimize circuit placement, routing, and timing in VLSI design. AI handles the complexity of current VLSI designs and finds optimal design parameters for minimal power and high performance. Scaling VLSI circuits to newer technology nodes raises process variance, leakage current, and thermal management difficulties, which the research tackles. These issues can be overcome with new ways to keep VLSI circuits scaling while preserving performance and power efficiency. Finally, case studies and experimental findings show that the offered methods work in real-world applications. These findings demonstrate significant power usage and performance benefits over typical VLSI design. In conclusion, our research advances VLSI technology by developing low-power, high-performance integrated circuits. The proposed VLSI design methods and solutions could lead to more efficient and powerful electronic systems. © 2024 IEEE.

A highly sensitive vibration sensor based on TENG (HSVS-TENG) with ultra-wide frequency response is presented. This study is the first to introduce a quasi-zero stiffness structure into the TENG to minimize the driving force by optimizing the magnetic induction intensity and the weight of the moving part. The results show that the HSVS-TENG can measure vibrations with frequencies ranging from 2.5 to 2600 Hz, with a sensitivity ranging from 0.32 to 134.9 V/g. Moreover, the sensor exhibits a good linear response versus the applied acceleration, and the linearity ranges from 0.08 to 2.81 V/g.

Coatings on the surface of Mg alloys are inevitably damaged during their practical applications,and corrosion can easily initiate from the damaged areas to accelerate the failure of Mg parts.A dual self-healing coating has already been developed to solve this problem in our previous *** the practical application of this coating,it is necessary to investigate its service behavior in atmospheric ***,the corrosion behavior of AM60 Mg substrate with and without the self-healing coating was compared in Shenyang industrial atmospheric *** results show that the enrichment of sediments and rainwater on the scratch areas can accelerate the corrosion of the exposed Mg *** inhibitors can be released from the damaged coating to inhibit *** dual self-healing coating shows better inhibition ability to narrow scratches due to the higher inhibitor concentration and less ***,the coating with wide scratches displays enough inhibition ability as *** dual self-healing coating is a good alternative for Mg alloy parts in the practical applications.

HappyCruise project offers cruise passengers a comprehensive solution that provides personalized security and information to reduce the feeling of insecurity and highlight the competitive advantages of Cruise destinations, offering a more comprehensive visit experience based on their interests and the available time while enhancing the Branding of the city and the port. The creation of a robust, useful, and engaging traveler mobile application with essential features is proposed. It combines offering information about suggested points of interests and other activities in the limited time of a cruise passenger's visit, security through a simple and intuitive alert system which informs the Cruise Security through a web interface about the passenger's Id, the type of the danger and the geographical position of the passenger. The passenger can also receive notifications from the ship's staff regarding the cruise schedule, the remaining time of staying at the port and of any important security messages. The mobile application also integrates a series of motivation teasers including gamified notifications with suggestions based on the passengers' interest, nearby points of interests presented with augmented reality, guidance to destinations with augmented reality navigation arrows, suggested services and products in the port area. Additionally, a biometric passenger identification system utilizing face recognition technology is used providing a quick and reliable check-in that eliminates the need of submitting passport or boarding card many times. © 2022 IEEE.

Since deep learning inference involves a significant amount of computations, there have been a lot of efforts to accelerate the inference process by eliminating ineffectual compu-tations. As a solution to this problem, several sparsity-aware deep learning accelerators have been proposed. These accelerators perform the inference on compressed data (filters and feature maps) and dynamically remove the ineffectual multiplications with zero operands. For efficiently handling the compressed data on the accelerators, a simple and effective compression scheme, which encodes the whole data with its nonzero values and their positions, is necessary. However, prior approaches have several shortcomings, such as low compression efficiency and high complexity in compression and decompression hardware. This paper proposes a low-cost compression scheme that can be applied to sparsity-aware deep-learning accelerators. The compression scheme synergistically combines two low-cost compression schemes: Zero-Value Compression (ZVC) and Base-delta-Immediate Compression (BdI). Our experimental evaluation shows that the proposed compression scheme achieves an average compression ratio of 2.26, resulting in 2.33x performance improvement,

Fe–Si sheet, which has {110} crystal orientation (Goss-FeSi), consists of Basic domain and Lancet-comb domain. Although the geometric structures of the Lancet-comb domain have been predicted by theoretical aspects, they have not been proved by experimental studies. In this paper, we study the Lancet-comb domain structures of a Fe–Si steel by a volume sensitive method, i.e., transparent X-ray topography (XrT). From the XrT results, we found the parallelogram structures, which is bulk structure of the Lancet-comb domain. The long side of the parallelogram forms about 55° angle to the rolling direction and the short side forms about 35° angle to the rolling direction. We assigned the long side of the parallelogram to {110} domain wall and the short side to {111} domain wall based on the geometric analysis. This Lancet-comb domain model well explains the behavior of the magnetic moments of Goss-FeSi. © 2025 The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan.
